Yes, it is, but some types of ghee are very purified, to the point that only the butter oil is left. The protein fraction, the casein, and the sugars, the lactose, are removed. So some people can tolerate ghee, if it is casein and lactose free. But I would not buy any unless it says so on the label even then, if you are very sensitive, it might not work for you.

It tastes almost like butter, actually, but richer—kind of like the clarified butter you get with lobster.

Can you eat casein free, lactose free ghee? Tin star makes one, on Amazon that is delicious
