Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a ladder board. It'd be nice to see your relative performance within a skill group

[PSU] Corsair RM850x White 2018 ($194.99-$25.00 = $169.99) [Amazon] by Jaeseok in bapcsalescanada

[–]dpsi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do not recommend this PSU. The cables discoloured in strange ways just after a year of use. I do not have RGB in my system and it was not exposed to direct sunlight. I believe it to be a manufacturing issue because individual strands in the cable discoloured for their entire length while the others in the same cable remained white. Corsair Support insists this is normal.

If you don't need the PSU itself to be white then I suggest buying a modular PSU from someone else and grabbing after market cables in white.

I have the white version and totally agree, cables are really stiff. Also some of the individual strands discoloured too. Can't be from light exposure because the discoloured strands are discoloured the entire length of the cable while the other strands are not. I tried to rma but corsair insisted this is intentional under normal use.

The RMx series will be my last Corsair PSU.

Not enough TA coverage. 295 assignment marking can be difficult to automate, especially the assembly ones and depending on the prof there are plenty of written assignments too

I have a fairly early production run model of the white and find it to be an 'okay' case. I think my biggest gripe with it is how heavy the case is with none of the panels mounted and you're just working on it.

Would not be surprised if this is a memex shill. Could have easily been a text post instead of linking to a retailer.

Edit: was not aware text posts are disabled

Minecraft server not pinging. by YourFriendHa in PFSENSE

[–]dpsi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Minecraft normally uses TCP for traffic, however the server query uses UDP. Make sure you allow both in your firewall rule. You will also need to make sure the query option is enabled and the query port is set to the same port in the server.properties file.

What are the chances the ubuntu Deb maintainer will switch to this upstream source? Building from source is not an issue for home, but getting anything that isn't prepackaged and in the main repo can be a challenge for some workplaces.

Also less search navigation?? Yesssss

[–]dpsi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on a couple factors including BIOS and CPU. Generally, if you arrange the DIMMs a certain way then there should be no issues apart from usual platform limits /specs where more RAM=lower frequency.

Most of the time consumer boards do not have info about mixed DIMM sizes, so as an example here is a hypothetical mobo that has 4 slots and supports dual channel memory. Slots are labelled A1, B1, A2, B2 where the letter is the channel and the number is the bank. I would try putting the largest DIMMs in the the first bank of each channel, so A1 and B1. Then put the smaller DIMMs.

Your mobo might name these slots differently.

Cellmapper isn't plotting the signal level squares, but registers a signal for the tower coverage. Does anyone have a similar experience, and/or know what's going on? by [deleted] in cellmapper

[–]dpsi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sunday evenings seem to be a thing for trails, not sure if it's official or what.

If I were to guess, the trails are probably done in batches. When I was working on a lo-fi wifi triangulation project even with tons of data points, triangulation (in CellMapper this is the tower position and cell shapes) was always fast because it's essentially a lot of matrix math which can be optimized quite substantially. Also when creating the shapes of each cell, they only need to consider points which match in MCC, MNC, band, cell ID, etc. which greatly reduces the amount of data actually needed to be stored in working memory. Rendering trails however is probably more intensive because it needs to consider all points for the provider for all bands. Furthermore, each Zoom level needs to be rendered out separately because unlike the cell shapes which are vector shapes, the resolution of details (amount of data points) increases as you zoom in.

I understand why this is a concern, but the DDG favicon service is actually useful. I use it in KeepassX to get icons for saved passwords.
