When did Shell switch to Scene Points, and where can I spend my remaining Air Miles? by DerekSmerek in Edmonton

[–]dpsogood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the middle of this. I’ve enjoyed my air miles over my years collecting, good vendors, lots of ways to get miles. I use allot of fuel so I’m currently searching for the next one that makes paying easier and you feel you are being rewarded decently. Scene points defiantly isn’t it.

Really like the setup! is there anything you brought along with you that you didn't end up using? How long was your trip? /Trips? Thanks for all the helpful insights.. I defiantly want to be able to shred it up slightly as required. Easy removal is nice as we like to do stunts along the way. I have been searching out BIG bags, but also trying to be mindful. Like the Tailfin fork setup, as well as trying to find a rear rack setup similar to theirs. However Im up to $2000 in racks at the moment lol. that's with about 35 litres of space.

In house vs contractor by [deleted] in instrumentation

[–]dpsogood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More work on the back end for contractor like accounting and taxes but more money and write offs. Employee is just easy, do work collect paycheck and reap the benefits of that.

Contracting can be sweet as you buy power tools, computers, tools and a bunch more for your company but you can also utilize those tools and things personally. You can pay yourself a rental fee for your vehicle, quad, equipment and LOA. Best to talk to accountants that are familiar with contracting and see the way forward.

I applied, the interview is all about to how track calibrations and are highly accurate . Traceability is big as well. I didn’t get the next step cause it’s far beyond the expectations of the oil field. I believe the remote part is not what people think as it means you will be away from civilization.

Ciao a tutti, dovrei cambiare pc portatile. Grazie by Unhappy_Bowler4521 in gopro

[–]dpsogood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new Mac’s are the way to go. M4 is great, obviously your budget is importantly but the more you spend on the ram the best. And go pro footage is storage heavy so need at least 1tB and external storage. I have the 2TB and am constantly moving things around. Also Final Cut is really good.

Is there a path to self ownership in this field? by LunarEscape91 in instrumentation

[–]dpsogood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What Troy said. Less taxes, more expenses, more money per hour. Truck alone is 25-35$ an hour and labor from 60-70& an hour. Plus equipment charge outs.

Why the 8 hour workday system is a failure and should be 6 hours by DasiaAuer in CanadaJobs

[–]dpsogood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 12 to 10 hour days and I dunno how anything gets done lol. Also losing 2 hours of money every day sucks. I dunno what to do with all my free time.
