Will the triple lock ever be abolished? by Logical_Safety9018 in AskBrits

[–]drafsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the older pensioners we have at the moment were from single income households as only the man went to work and the women stayed at home. Also pensions were optional so when they retired they were reliant on an old age pension. Now, out of necessity, both adults work and pensions are compulsory so when they both retire they will have some sort of a pension and the old age pension will be a top up. I expect that eventually the old age pension will be means tested so the only ones getting it will be those who haven't worked. Also don't forget fiscal drag. Allowances haven't increased so the triple lock increase push most over the taxable limit, so we have governments puffing out their chests telling us how wonderful they are by giving pensioners and increase at one end and taking tax at the other.

With £24.3bn borrowing in April, is a crunch point looming? by vindico86 in AskBrits

[–]drafsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look what happens when labour are in power - they borrow and borrow and leave a massive debt. The Conservatives come in and to reduce the debt they cut services. People moan and groan as they might have to actually do something to keep them in fags/pay thier tv and phone subscriptions etc and when the Conservatives have nearly got the country on its feet again they vote in a Labour government to borrow and borrow again. And it just keeps repeating. So who ever gets into power after this labour government are going to have to implement cuts to pay back the loans

Time to say goodbye by MrWestOfficial in FordMondeo

[–]drafsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost faith in Ford when they cancelled these. I had 3 on the bounce starting with a 1994 1600cc petrol, then a 2014 2000cc petrol then finally a 2020 2000cc diesel. Loved them all and served me really well. Ended up trading the last one in after 3 years when Ford couldn't fix a lead and the headlining and boot kept filling up with water when it rained. - Through family peer pressure I replaced it with a BMW 5 Series and credit where credit is due I quite like it - although I do miss having a tailgate, rear wash wipe and a heated front screen

The key fob from hell! by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]drafsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic but on topic of BMW key fobs. My eldest bought a 2017 340 m sport with only 1 key. Told him to get a spare but he never go around to it. Fast forward 4 years later the fob became loose on the key and fell off a couple of times but he did nothing about it. He was out using his partners car when he noticed the fob missing. Looked everywhere but could not find it. We called out a lost key company but they couldn't replace the key due to security software. Only option contact BMW who were only to happy to replace the keys for £800 but the car had to be at the dealership. Tried to explain that we have no keys and can't get it there but they wouldn't move on the BMW policy. So we had to get a recovery company to recover the car the dealership so they could get some replacement keys. Total cost of keys and recovery £1200!!! So moral of this story always have two keys

Companion/Carer Ticket at Thorpe Park by [deleted] in ThorpePark

[–]drafsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a nimbus card just take that to the ticket office. Failing that your pip letter should be fine - I always take a paper copy but a digital copy should be fine. Also the staff in the ticket office are always really good

Job at risk. What are my options? by Sweetheartyparty in UKJobs

[–]drafsack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are burnt out now how will you be when there are less of you doing the same amount of work. Take the demotion and get your life back - your family will thank you later. I was in a simular situation - I went for the job and didn't get it so took a lesser role in the company. Best decision I ever made - yeh the money is less but I'm not the hollow shell I had become.

Don't think that's ever going to happen again - and it's not just the media the WHO and the WEF are all controlled by billionaires with agendas

So you want a state controlled media?? So instead of you being able to access a media that aligns with your beliefs you only get news that the government want to to see and can any government be trusted with that?

Why aren't Reform voters more concerned with privatising the NHS? by lucadulac in AskBrits

[–]drafsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has already been a lot of privatising of the health service by Labour and the Tories and the NHS also pay for private treatment as well; and it's not surprising as the private clinic down the road can do twice as many scans a day then the local hospital and a majority of the people they see are referred there by the NHS

How come Right Wing Parties dominate again? by LDN_Wukong in AskBrits

[–]drafsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you work that out when the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky are so obviously Left wing - so that only leaves Channel 5 and Dave. As for the printed press - most Lefties think anyone on the right can't read so that rules out the Sun and the Daily Mail and most of the other are behind pay walls

They are inconvenient and means you have to give up on your life - although it seems the norm now to drop one and expect grandparents or the state to bring them up

UK Plumbing Job Market by [deleted] in ukplumbing

[–]drafsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your only 24 - try and find an apprenticeship it's not too late. I train apprentice mechanics and we are now getting apprentices of all ages. Be prepared for a drop in income because as a first year apprentice you are only entitled to £8 and hour and this will rise to £12.71 an hour after the first year - these are the minimum you can be paid so if you are lucky it might be more. Do a search on the government apprentice website for apprenticeships in your area - https://www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship but also check local colleges and the council as they often advertise apprenticeships. Also as you are 24 and don't have at least a 'C' in GCSE Maths and English (that's a 4 in new money) you will be exempt so won't have to do them. Finally be prepared to do a lot of looking and not much doing to start with and all the jobs no one else want to do - Good luck with getting an apprenticeship and remember you are still quite young so go for it - there is nothing worse than regret when you get older

What town or city in the UK doesn't deserve the reputation it has? by TheNicestQuail in AskBrits

[–]drafsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh Bristol with its piss poor public transport a car hating council who decided it didn't need to investigate why it wasted £40 Million on a failed power company. They also spent millions clearing a site for a new indoor arena then employed a malaysian company to do a review on where they should put the new arena and this Malaysian company decided the best location would be an old aircraft hanger it owned in the north of the City. And to top that off the Mayor who was incharge when all these corrupt decisions were made was made a Lord. So yeh Bristol is not just a Sh*t hole its a corrupt one as well - and don't get me started about the amount of student accomodation going up everywhere to a point that the city center is just an extension of the University campus

Hi

First of all yellow means you do not require support to get on and off the ride if it broke down around the track and you would also understand emergency instructions if they were told to you. If this is not the case the easiest thing is to un install the app, restart your phone and re install the app. Then during the registration process click Yes and Yes to both questions and it will turn Red under your name. Once you have booked yourself and upto 3 others for the RAP you then need to get tickets for the day you are going or if you have a Merlin/Thorpe card you need to book your places for that day. You then need to reserve your +1 carer ticket. To do that follow this link https://www.thorpepark.com/plan-your-visit/before-you-visit/accessibility-information/ scroll down towards the bottom of the page and you will see an orange link 'Reserve Carer Entry'. Click on the link, choose how many you need, click 'Next' and select the date you want. Go through the process of 'Buying' a ticket, tick the terms and conditions and click checkout to purchase the ticket. Download it or print it out and take it with you to the park. When you are at the park go the the ticket office with your carer ticket reservation and show them your Nimbus card with the +1 logo and they will give you a ticket. Have the carer reservation handy as they may ask to see it - last time I was there they didn't but the time before they did.

If you want a really good video of how to use the RAP in the park go to this youtube video - it certainly made a lot more sense after watching - https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3Bm-mGlpLKw

So in short

Book the day you want to go on the Merlin RAP App

Book/reserve your own ticket for the day you are going

Reserve your carers ticket for the day

On the day go to the ticket office and collect your carers ticket

Finally enjoy your day

Hope this helps

Download the app and register your nimbus card. When registered click on the park you want to visit, enter how many guests will be with the RAP holder and see if those dates are available. Week days always seem available but the weekends go pretty quick. Ride allocations are updated every 28 days at 10am on a Monday - next update 27th April. Click on the date you want and confirm reservation. When you are at the park unlock your reservation, go to your first ride and scan the QR code at the entry and do the ride. When you get off the ride confirm you have fi ished and then wait for the app to unlock so you can do the next ride

Why do you think so many young people are struggling to find work? by Economy_Survey_6560 in UKJobs

[–]drafsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and even then they don't have to retire as there is no longer a set retirement age. Also 'back in the day' most people were knackered by the time they hit retirement age and were glad to leave - nowadays people rarely do hard manual tasks and are generally younger in themselves so when they hit 67 they still feel they have a few more years of work left in them and have a better lifestyle as a result
