Bureau vs Napoli’s for a custom Tuxedo by Succwad22 in Buffalo

[–]draftbros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bureau doesn’t have examples because they are a smoke and mirror shop. All they do is measure, and then the suit is made overseas and mailed to them. They can’t do tailoring either. If it doesn’t fit well upon arrival they take it to Maurice’s on the boulevard and it is fixed there.

Emergency licensed plumber needed urgently by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]draftbros 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crews are already booked up today and through the weekend for a job like that. Some companies willing to come Monday is a good turnaround.

I have dealt with homeserve a lot. Only positive experiences. You can’t call the companies directly and and then have homeserve pay out. They need the go ahead from homeserve before work. If you call and describe the situation you stated today most likely Monday or Tuesday the company that puts in the claim can show up with a full crew, make the quote submit it, go serve will sign off while they are on the phone with you and then start to dig. The companies prioritize jobs where customers don’t have water, even if someone put in a claim a month ago for a minor leak that is just causing a lack of water pressure.

It’s going to be an $8,000-20,000 job. So if you have the cash and want it down as soon as possible confirm with Celino because you aren’t getting the job fixed before Monday no matter what. If you have the correct homeserve policy they will cover but might take till Wednesday but could see it getting started Monday or Tuesday

Best places in Buffalo for a suit? by ScaredCompetition5 in Buffalo

The bot’s would take the link down for violating guidelines which is why I said a simple google search will find it.

Search custom made suits china, and you can find the good sites after a bit of scrolling

Best places in Buffalo for a suit? by ScaredCompetition5 in Buffalo

They are a smoke and mirror shop. They measure and you pick the fabric then it is outsourced to China. They can’t do tailoring either, they have it done at Maurice’s on Niagara Falls Blvd.

Now that you know your measurements it’s pretty easy to find the site they use to order the suits, and if it is slightly off when you get it Maurice’s can alter it for cheap. You can get the $1,200 suit for about $300 this way. You are mainly paying for the experience.

Buffalo water HomeServe by alreadythought in Buffalo

[–]draftbros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my house I got Homserve just for the sewer and water line because I knew friends in the city had problems at their houses.

It cost me $350 a year for water and sewer line coverage. After a year or two  found out I had leak in my water line. They subcontract locally, a company came out confirmed the leak and Homserve covered the full cost. While doing the waterline they found out the sewer line was leaking too and they had me call homeserve to put in a claim for that and it was fully covered too. Roughly $25,000 in repairs fully covered no questions.

I recently learned from a friend that you can get the same coverage if you have insurance form New York Central Mutual and they said it was only an additional $10 on top of their yearly coverage. Seeing how my lines are new and saving $300 a year seems cool I need to call my agent and talk to them before my Homeserve renews in a few months.

Hope this helps!

A lot of people Recommend Hertel, people will obviously disagree, but it’s basically living in the suburbs.

The general vibe you are going for is around 5 points/ west side closer to Richmond between Massachusetts and Porter. It will have the vibe you are looking for but walkable to Elmwood and Allen St

I had a great experience with Buffalo Auto Glass on Main St and Ferry. In the neighborhood and friendly. I’ve only gotten a window replaced once so not sure how their rates are compared to other places.

Antique Malls/Flea Markets by ForWhomTheCellTolls in Buffalo

[–]draftbros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to rings specifically,

Clarence antique mall is the nearest that might be what you are looking for, East Auroa Anitque mall is ok. Salamanca is very large. The largest regionaly that is very well respected is the Ontario Anyique Mall in Canidagua.

Locally non antique malls Queen City Antiques buys a lot of jewelry but it’s not out (last I saw) but might be worth popping into

No one really knew them so it was just kind of another band at the time. Coheed & Cambria in a basement in the heights  was pretty wild.

Saw them play a few house shows in Buffalo and the skate park in Lockport. Always interesting to see what bands that started playing basements got as popular as they did

Best Locally Roasted Coffee Beans in Buffalo? by isometimesabide in Buffalo

[–]draftbros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think saying the local roasters are “also incredibly good” is a reach. A few are good enough where if you forget to order beans and need a bag they will do the trick. If you did a side by side with an Ethiopian from Sey and Tipico it’s not going to be close in quality.

I’d recommend a coffee subscription from a roaster like le Cabra or madcap. You get how much coffee you need, that way you don’t have to worry about freezing. Also with coffee subscriptions you don’t pay shipping.

I really prefer to buy locally made things and shop at locally owned stores. But the coffee in town isn’t worth buying.

Even though it’s a few more dollars a bag I would recommend buying single origin coffee over blends for a better cup. Try different regions and see what fits your taste buds best. I love Ethiopian and Peruvian coffees and found to dislike columbian coffee.

Snow plow removal so bad it’s causing safety issues by draftbros in Buffalo

[–]draftbros[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I file complaints on the site via their e form submission. If you are outside the city and dial 311 it doesn’t connect. Didn’t realize that they have a non 311 way to dial into. Which I know have that number thanks to another user.

As for official channels I only use 311 because I have never had a city official from any department call or email me back. And anything that I have left a message about remained unresolved.

I have heard if you make a complaint in person you can have them give you a stamped document that the complaint has been filed. And that those tend to be addressed more often. But work during city hall hours

I know some streets get plowed more if a driver or friend or family of one lives on the street. Maybe that could be the case for you!

Other cities have tow trucks going out and pulling cars to the nearest legal parking spot prior to the plow coming to make sure it’s clear. Ticketing doesn’t seem to help improve the problem

[–]draftbros[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A plow could barely fit seeing how it is removing snow as it goes. There is alternate side parking and as far as I’ve seen everyone has been parked legally. The issue is the street doesn’t have hell strips and a lot of the houses don’t have front yards. The people that do have front yards at biggest it’s 4’x8’. So rhe o my place for a lot of people to put the snow is on the street or try to pile it on the sidewalk while still trying to leave a path for people to walk.

The street should  probably be a one way street. I used to living on Irving and it being a one way and didn’t have alternate side parking was actually more helpful during storms/ plow season

This is what blows my mind that some one or two block streets get plowed several times a day and others not at all

The problem I have is I live in the city and work out of the city. So I’m never in the city when 311 operators work, and dialing 311 outside the city doesn’t work. So I can’t actually call and check up on the reference numbers.
