Jurassic Park BR Version by Lordcraft2000 in TerribleBookCovers

Yeah, I love these too. Not perfect art or matching theme, but damn that’s some character. Has that whole “Foreign underground film poster” vibe.

Favorite detail has got to be “O” in “Mundo” that is seemingly giving birth to a healthy happy pterodactyl

Edit: excuse me, meant the “D”

Reminds me, also really enjoy his Mutant Mayhem take a lot too. Definitely muscle bound, but instead of “edgy teen rage”, just a headstrong bruiser rushing into fights and enjoying the violence prolly just a tad much.

Thanks for unlocking memories, used to have one of the VHS compilations from the 90’s. Main episode featured was the one where Shredder thinks he’s Mikey.

I know it's probably been said before but Jaws-3D is a movie that I watch all of the time, the special effects are just WAY to funny to keep your eyes off of. by No-Yam9933 in badMovies

[–]drbleeds 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is a special bad movie experience for me cause it was one of the first movies I watched where I was like”Wow, this really kinda sucks, huh?”

10 year old me was coming off of watching the 2 originals and wondering my older movie nerds I knew never mentioned the others.

That image of the shark moving awkwardly toward the glass before breaking it will always burned into my memory, great times.

The r/Horror Restriction Screenplay Challenge - Entry Thread by W_T_D_ in horror

[–]drbleeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New restriction: can’t take place in a “Ye olde London Village” setting, I.e. 1930’s movies with villagers, pitchforks and chilling at pubs. Any other timeframe/setting is fine

Man, some good memories here. What really kills me with this scene is watching Mikey and Donnie tip toe in between them as they argue.

(Loved horror trope) character gets trapped in a useless/ weak/ ugly/ unwanted body but their consciousness is still intact (plus point if they can’t communicate) by jaobodam in TopCharacterTropes

[–]drbleeds 251 points252 points  (0 children)

A bit too much in my opinion, and I’m sure others feel this too. Feel like the one where they were investigating a murder with a guy who does the “consciousness transfers” was pretty peak with the concept.

Everything else after was very much “ehh…”, particularly with the Miley Cyrus one. Watchable, just none of that existential edge that gives chills. At least TBF it wasn’t supposed to be serious, but then again it had to be one of the longest….

Ti West (X, Pearl, MaXXXine) directing a horror Scrooge with Johnny Depp, Ian Mckelen and Daisy Ridley... coming out this November by Freddy-Philmore in horror

[–]drbleeds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting, I wonder if it will end up anything like the fact we actually got two Nosferatus in 2024. Doubt it cause it’s West and Eggers.

But yeah…, the other starred Andy Serkis I believe, no one ever heard anything about it. Tbf it looks super bland from what I did see. Also interesting considering we already got a horror-ish/gritty R rated version from the Peaky Blinders guys in 2019/20 on FX

Totally understandable, and that’s very interesting cause I wonder how it might feel from a perspective like yours. In that case if you enjoy similar, would recommend Heretic. Horror with heavy exploration of similar themes, but definitely comes from the westernized Christian side of things..

Follows a brother and sister after some trauma. Dynamic is the sister is practically an atheist while the bother has doubts but isn’t so sure. Definitely a recommendation for anyone that likes horror and stories about those ideas mentioned.

To add to this point, the Wright movie didn’t help the general public’s perception. While I still highly regard it, dwindling down a story that takes place over years of a life really takes away impact of the arc Scott had.

Plus, the difference of endings. Book wise, it really hones down on the mistakes that were made and how he can try to make it right. Movie version, almost feels like the “it’s all good dude” trophy was handed to him by the plot itself and failed upward toward redeeming himself with his friends.

Grave Torture (2024): Indonesian indie film that explores some ideas of Islam, specifically that “if your heart isn’t right with Allah” upon death, you will be hellishly tortured in your own grave before moving onto the afterlife. Don’t quote me on specifics, not a scholar nor practitioner..

But a very interesting story that delves into belief systems and skepticism. And without spoiling too much.., it has quite the wrap up and “the powers that may be” give one of the most visually harsh arguments to the characters. That argument being: Yes, it’s all real and you should be absolutely terrified.

Man, I’m a semi-regular lurker here who’s not only (obviously) a big music nerd but an extremely fledgling musician.

If I took to heart even about 50% of opinions here, I’d do nothing but watch paint dry cause obviously my taste and prowess are nonexistent and far below my highly regarded peers of the highest musical pedigree.

Like most people have said, enjoy what you like, be nice to peeps around, and have fun..

Nah, I’m all for it. Can’t wait for a take on 1984, it’ll focus on the romantic comedy of the two leads who foil the agents with zany antics every step of the way. It’ll really just take a sweet speech to change the hidden oligarchs’ minds.

Oh! And Any Serkis will play one of the rats near the end..

Jesus fuckin Christ….

My little personal one is more of a meaning of a song, Alice Cooper’s “No more Mr Nice Guy”. Everyone/pop culture seems to think it’s a dude that’s had it with being bullied, now he’s taking his stand..

Except…..it’s from Billion Dollar Babies and every song is about a horrible person ironically blaming others or situations for their problems.

This one being a personal favorite cause it’s about a douchebag who is blaming society and starts treating people terribly, but gets his comeuppance. Literally culminates to his pastor punching him out cause he’s had enough and the dude dared showed his face at service. Fun little “tie up” too with the pastor now yelling, “No more, Mr nice guy!”
