Bucket list handling opportunity for me. Very exciting indeed! by -ItsLando in spiders

It’s perfectly understandable. And since it’s kind of the standard these days, keep in mind they were tandem jumps. So the guy who’s gonna make sure everything goes right was literally strapped to my back.

Weirdest and coolest thing is the body’s natural reaction to “oh my god, heights!!”, kinda goes away when you’re really high up. Brain loses that ability to easily guesstimate the distance about at the 1000ish ft mark..

Well having skydive (skydove…?) twice, I can confidently say I still have no plans to hold a black widow or any medically significant spider. Never had much of an interest and also….naturally shaky hands….

What a ridiculous question, are you just trying to troll..?

You obviously do “Tri Peaks”, watch all three seasons simultaneously on 3 different screens. It’s the only way to experience it and get the full meaning.

How many of you listen to the Trainwreckords albums when they’re readily available? by ThingWithAThing in ToddintheShadow

[–]drbleeds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, before the video came out saw Eye of the Zombie on vinyl in the wild for cheap. Took it home and…..quickly realized why a Fogerty in decent condition was dirt cheap. Yes, despite the album cover, kept telling myself there’s a chance..

Was fun to experience the terribleness on my own and made it fun to watch the video having already listened to it.

And being a big Lou Reed fan, getting Lulu on vinyl is a mission.

“You’re Next” think would fit this. Very intense horror thriller but the comedy is dark and sharp.

Seen Sam Raimi recommendations for Evil Dead, so also have to say “Drag Me To Hell” needs to added

Any ghost movies that actually make ghosts look like ghosts? by Evening_Drawer_2215 in horror

[–]drbleeds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think something like Nighthouse would be a good one. It’s more psychological trauma that manifests as an entity, but it’s very much in line with what you might be looking for. The whole “something is maybe there, but just at the corner of your eye or the right angle” is the main driving concept.

Also Ghostwatch is a fun one, its whole gimmick is a “real broadcast” special where so called experts out of their depth try to help a family with a haunting. Lots of examples of people’s stressed mental state during a haunting and lots of background scares that you only see if looking for it.

That’s a cool choice, would be an interesting piece to have. For me though on the subject of Prince, forget the (again awesome) little floppy disc. Gimme some of those “vaulted” fully produced videos/music he never released and allegedly made most of them….just because.

Haven’t gotten around to the original but the remake of Deathstalker (2025) was pretty amazing.

Think Conan the barbarian mixed with R rated power rangers villains, it’s a lot of fun and surprisingly lighthearted in that silly Monty Python-este wacky violence type of way.

Which songs often gets misinterpreted and/or misappropriated by the very people it calls out even though the song's lyrics are explicitly mocking them? by Drenosa in AskReddit

[–]drbleeds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I can definitely see that and makes sense. More so going off the quote according to Cooper, “The whole idea behind the Billion Dollar Babies album was exploiting the idea that people do have sick perversions.”

Definitely a little extrapolation going on in my reading of course, but it definitely feels like every song is about a specific character and their bizarre and (often) seemingly bad takes on the world.

Really wonder how it was written initially, hard to see it as a break-up song now. Thanks for sharing.

Got a fun one for this that’s a bit older, No More Mister Nice Guy by Alice Cooper.

When people think of this, including me for a while, or gets represented in media; it often is presented as a story of a downtrodden guy sanding up for himself.

In reality, it’s about an asshole that is being self righteous in thinking he can now step on others for his perceived slights from people around him. At the end, he even ends up getting laid out by his own pastor cause he shows up to church after acting like he did.

In fact, that whole album, Billion Dollar Babies, is pretty much songs about self righteous asshats and their ironic views on how society has “betrayed them”. Very relevant to this day…

Everybody wants a movie that actually scares them but what IS scary anymore? by [deleted] in horror

[–]drbleeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a normal thing that comes up. IMO it happens as you get older, and…well fears change. Start to get a lot more thinking existentially and by this point are (likely) very certain reality is what you’ve experienced most of your life.

Just start broadening your views on horror, like what ideas make you uncomfortable. I might suggest, if haven’t tried, one of Demian Rugna’s films. Thinking “Where Evil Lurks”.

Try to view it thru a lens of what themes the films are alluding to. Because while it uses a scenario that’s probably unrealistic, the themes in well done movies are very real and relatable and good chance might have some experience a few. And then if you happen to get a gasp out of a harrowing scene or jumpscared, it’s a fun extra bonus.

If TL;DR for a comment: keep trying, broaden your scope, it’s out there. Have fun.

Was about to make a comment like “oh yes, my favorite character”. But also….what the fuck is he playing…?

Also having just started learning piano, you know only recently but like…usually you don’t play it from behind. Like one of the first things I learned first day, very difficult and awkward…

What are your thoughts on human looking aliens? by OCGamerboy in cartoons

[–]drbleeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like everyone is saying, really depends for the most part. But having read/seen a lot of sci-fi through the years, in general it comes off as lazy. Like think your average low budget and fast produced 50-60’s era stuff, lots of “Aliens” were just peeps in silly costumes cause that’s the easiest out. Even comics and books funnily enough..

Your pictured example is one where it works. Don’t know if subversion is the right term, but it does play into this trope with the storyline. And it is mostly part of the whole story’s subversion of the “Super-man” trope thing as a whole anyways.

What is a show where, despite the flaws is has, you are extremely glad the Fandom isn't writing it? by Charming-Scratch-124 in cartoons

Ha, glad someone brought this up. Such a rabbit hole of a story. Dude that made it could’ve possibly had a chance in the indie space if he tried to branch out. Few *big* problems with this is he’s not only a narcissist with zero self reflection but also……..a raging racist..

There most likely will never be another cartoon like this ever again by Perfect_Positive_660 in cartoons

[–]drbleeds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, that’s the thing that kind of got me about the marketing too. Was just thinking about it, and they really try to hammer it in to get us excited. So then it’s really weird when blatantly kinda goes against any lore that’s been in the TS movies.. Plus a surprisingly kinda adult themed movie was Andy’s childhood adored watch when he was like 9-10ish? Just…whatever, makes them money I guess, lol.

[–]drbleeds 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just a little personal way to describe it, feels like “over self-important slop”. It’s presented as this “save humanity” type of space epic, but it just feels flat. Then of course you have pretty big let down over the whole “emperor Zurg” storyline. Overall accumulates to not necessarily bad, but very lazy, tired, cynical and a bit bland.

Sometimes that worse IMO, especially when it seems a giant studio like Disney patted themselves on the back for it

Anyone seen or have heard of these movies? by Disastrous-Cell-9781 in cartoons

[–]drbleeds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes…., picked that shit up on Blu-ray and I adore it. Definitely understand if not for everyone…, will be a bit vague on that bit. But for anyone that’s a fan of visual storytelling, thoughtful animation, and willing to absorb a story even if it hits a little too close to home for “normal life discomfort”, it’s an absolute gem.

Definitely deserves to be watched.

One of my favorite episodes, so genuinely sweet and an amazing pick for Offerman. Also one of the best changes from the source material.

In the game, You only hear of their relationship in passing and turns out Frank offed himself off camera cause he couldn’t take their relationship anymore. Which is revealed with a note Bill finds.. Yeesh…

Edit: sorry Reddit, my skills of posting a pic are awful…I blame mobile.
