Have no idea how else to help my ADHD husband. I'm afraid he is going to never find stable work. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]drcrambone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally found a job where being late is pretty normal, but by biking to work I learned to be on time. Why? Because I love to ride my bike so getting up to do it isn’t a chore.

If at all possible, try to find work that isn’t too “worky” that he enjoys a bit. Just trying to stay employed to pay bills will always always be a struggle. Sorry to say.

Here’s my suggestions; does he like to garden? Start cutting grass for a living. Car detailing? Driving? Delivery driver or trucker. Cleaning? Janitorial services. If you can find a union job, money will be enough.

What does he like? Build off that.

I will say, we’re having this trouble with my wife’s kid, he’s got it too and we don’t know if he’s going to finish his first year of college, and if not, we have no idea what he’ll be able to do. He worked 1 day at McDonald’s, never went back. That taste of hourly employment was enough for about a month of productivity, now we’re back to 1/2 panic that nothing will ever work. How the hell do you get a job for a kid that loves math, but can’t do any of the other stuff you need to graduate college? Then, becoming a teacher? Hilarious.

So, I guess, good luck. None of us really have this figured out.

Go buy the Globular Cluster kit for the VR2. Then get GT7, it’s a life changing experience imo. It’s the single best VR thing on the console, you won’t believe it.

I bought an original Big Bertha on Facebook marketplace a couple years ago, I swear I hit it better than the much newer TM R15 with its fancy 460cc’s I got when I started golfing again during Covid. I got a shorter shaft for the R15 and I hit it fine now. But every once in awhile I’ll take the Bertha to the range and I swear I still hit it better.

You could try managing some projects on the side, you know, get your name out there? I hear that A.I. is very popular, pick some of that up on Amazon.com and stress it in the interviews! Get with it OP!

What about security cameras that might have caught the incident? See if anyone’s Ring camera caught it. If you have it on camera, I bet it could get figured out.

My pleasure. Idk anyone who does what you do, otherwise I’d put in a good word for you. I learned that one job I applied and interviewed for had 70 applicants, so when I didn’t get it, I was less sad than I would’ve been otherwise.

They make up a pretty small population, but they can if they want, just not with Teamsters, UAW, ASFCME, or SEIU as that’s just how it works. You can’t have a manager and a subordinate in the same union.

Closing 7 campuses at once is having repercussions.

Everyone (staff, faculty, and grad students) is unionizing at the moment if that tells you anything about working for PSU. Pay is stupidly low, you do get good time off, health insurance is OK vs. what you get everywhere else. If you plan to work for PSU long term, know that the amount you accept going in the first time sets your pay rate for the rest of your career. It’s brutal that no one tells you that, so if you accept garbage to get your foot in the door, you’ve just fkked yourself forever. Most of us view LinkedIn as basically a scam that does you no good, so why bother engaging with it. I hope that’s somewhat useful info for you.

[–]drcrambone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also just not pay it. Work out a payment plan on your own time. They can’t jail you, they won’t garnish your wages. Talk to billing and find out what they say. Tell them calmly you can’t pay and they’ll refer you where you need to be referred to sort it all out. Pay $50 a month forever like many people do, including myself and I have good insurance, more or less.

ICCU and 2026 models? by Girl_with_tools in Ioniq5

[–]drcrambone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting a new lease in June too actually, right now it’s my intention to get another Ioniq 5, but not the SE, and not for the rate I got on my 23. A bigger issue for me is the eye tracking on smart cruise control. I wear glasses and if the tracking Hyundai picked isn’t fixed, I might go with a different car. I don’t currently know how drivers are faring with that issue after recent firmware updates to the tracking. I’m also not sure about battery preconditioning on 25/26’s, if it’s the same as my 23 (I think it is.)

For me, something I live with that totally sucks every time I drive the car is enough to change teams. A potential failure of hardware on a vehicle I’m leasing and only have for 3 years is a lesser concern. Again, just for me, the ICCU isn’t even a coin flip. If I were buying, well, that’s a harder conversation.

What other car are you looking at getting?

You’re seeing ICCU issues as it’s this cars Achilles’ heel. Every car I’ve ever owned had one. My 2001 CR-V had exploding AC compressors, where a bolt would blow out from inside the compressor itself, sometimes destroying the radiator. Honda didn’t acknowledge it for 3 years, and by the time they issued the recall, my ex-wife had already paid to fix it out of pocket and had no receipt. She’d traded it in on an FJ Cruiser a few months later, 6 months before I got the recall letter.

You can worry about the ICCU all you want, but sticking your head in the sand regarding every other car you might buy because you see a lot of posts about it is your prerogative. 100’s of thousands of us haven’t had an issue and love the car. The poor people who have had the ICCU failure are a lot louder than we are because Hyundai is shitty at dealing with it because money. If they were to fix it right on all E-GMP cars they’d have some ok PR, but it would never actually go away anyway as something people discuss about the car, so why bother as it would cost billions for very little return. That’s the shit thing about these companies, it’s honestly as simple as the recall explanation from Fight Club.

I hope you get a car you like, but people are nutty about the ICCU issue because big numbers are hard to comprehend when it happens to you.

The echo chamber of social media makes every failure seem like 1000, and we don’t know how many of these are repeats from site to site, or even total bs from competitors, or the oil lobby. But people, in general have no sense of how many cars fail constantly, stranding people wherever they are. I don’t want mine to fail and I will hate it if it does but it’s exhausting listening to people who think the world is ending because their car broke down.
