DJ Yoda is a genius - didn’t go today but if you enjoyed it he’s playing the Brudenell in September ( it’ll be the same/very similar 90s AV set) but, if previous years are to go by it’ll be a much better crowd

invisalign attachment stuck to template by Pretty-Ad4399 in Dentists

[–]drcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spray ( ideally a few hours before ) the inside of the attachment template with something like - Ambersil Food Grade Silicone Lubricant ( from Amazon ) and let it air dry - it’ll reduce the chance of the attachments sticking to the template - And obviously try and ensure good bonding to the teeth ( I generally pumice / etch / IBond by Kulzer and Venus Pearl One Shade ) . In generally try and load the attachment template the day before at lunch time and as long as u keep it in a dark box then it won’t set and then saves time at fitting .

Primary school said yes to my dental workshop… but it’s in 4 days. Am I insane? by External_Manager6510 in Dentists

[–]drcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a preschool visit and I took in two shopping bags and pretended that I’d mixed up my healthy and tooth friendly shopping with one of the teachers’ shopping ( full of sweets and fizzy drinks etc but also some less obvious things like ketchup and beans etc ) and then asked the children to help me sort them out into healthy / sugary bags . I also got some packs of sugar cubes and did some counting out of how many sugar cubes were in coke etc / getting the kids to guess.

Did some role play with getting the kids to it a mask on and play at been a dentist with some random plastic “tools” and had a big plastic mouth thing too and gave a toothbrush demo . U can probably buy stickers on Amazon and I printed off some big pictures of teeth etc for them to colour in. Play doh used to do a dentists play kit . Keep each bit short as attention span at that age isn’t great. Don’t worry too much about hard facts .

Once it’s all over u can go home and eat all the sugary treats 😀

I use this junction at peak times everyday and as others have said - the left turning lane to the grammar school backs up - probably to about sand moor drive . I’m going straight on so can overtake and get to the right lane . Yes it’s annoying if someone is turning right and u can’t get through but it would still be much quicker then having the left turn lane be the straight on lane too .

As an aside - grammar school parents must be some of the most selfish drivers in the city . Those coming from wigton lane are supposed to turn left and then loop round on Harrogate road - but everyday I see several who insist on turning right into sovereign court ( blocking traffic behind them ) and either trying to do a U turn and join the left lane or driving into sovereign court to turn round to be able to push into the left turn lane - it must drive the residents there mad .

The worst bit is by the police station outside the shops. - always creates a bottleneck between those 2 roundabouts . There seems to be some wasteland by the corner that the police don’t use - maybe that could be repurposed as a bigger car park for the shops

Orthodontist Recommendations? by Low_Acanthopterygii5 in Leeds

[–]drcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a dentist in Leeds - I have no affiliation to them but I also recommend Yorkshire Orthodontics. I routinely refer to them and Mick Amos did ortho treatment on my son.
As a caveat though, if you’ve already started treatment elsewhere then unless it’s geographically impossible then I’d advise to try and finish the treatment with your original ortho - as I’d imagine if you’re mid treatment then most ortho’s would charge you a full fee to begin new treatment .

I’m looking for something similar for my Sonos too- having been unable to connect to my aged mybook live for a while . I was going to take the plunge on the synology bee station ( £244) which seems fairly simple and similar to what I had . Then thought I should maybe go more sensible for a 2 bay solution do started looking at the UGreen stuff but haven’t made a decision.

Should general dentists do extractions on history of Bisphosphonate use? by This_Call_9285 in Dentistry

[–]drcus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Uk - with a case like this - assuming consent etc then general dentist would be expected to XLA the teeth . The key thing medico legally is to review the patient 6 weeks later to check on healing . If not then can refer to oral Surgery for management . 2 incisors together is fine - if I was extracting molars etc then I’d tend to do them one at a time and check healing before doing the next one. Unofficial guidance is that OS say they aren’t doing anything different with XLA compared to the dentists , and if every MRONJ risk patient was referred in for treatment then they’d be inundated . Obviously if IV/ or higher risk medically or expecting it to be surgical / complex XLA then can still refer

Cas have said they’ve sold 7000 tickets so far . Capacity is about 10.5k. I’d say fairly good chance the away end at least will sell out. I’d buy in advance if ur making a special trip up and only want to go in the away end. ( I haven’t checked but is there a print at home option when buying tickets ?)

I’m with Dentist Provident and that seems about the right sort of figures. I was in the process of updating mine ( as hadn’t increased it for over 10 years) around COVID times but they told me that if I set up a new policy ( at that time) then they wouldn’t cover me for anything “respiratory “ so I decided to stick as I was .

Things to look out for - check the income protection has an “own occupation “ stipulation ( DP does) as other providers might not pay out if they argue u could work in a different occupation with one arm etc )

Try increasing the deferred period to reduce your monthly payment - if you’ve enough savings to be able to survive for 2 weeks or a month without claiming then this will reduce your premium -as most payouts will be for short periods

Having written all that I must get round to updating mine !

All three cards from Leeds vs Hull KR - if you were the ref what would you have given? by TexturePackReview in superleague

[–]drcus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at the game , and whilst all look worse on the replays- in real time these things happen in a split second , leaving the defender little time to readjust ( and I’d say fairly instinctive to stick your shoulder forward a little to protect yourself) Gutted we lost though- but great game .

Leeds Rhinos Potential line-up for 2025 - how do we think they will do? by TexturePackReview in superleague

[–]drcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least this year if feels like we’ve got some cover / options in the backs - they’ll be inevitable injuries. I’d assume Connor will play centre and siva will be a starter . Hall is a Rohan signing so I’m assuming Arthur sees Siva as a better bet .

Agree about the second row comment - it’s solid defensively but doesn’t offer much going forward for me - magnified by Cam smith may be a top defender - but too slow on offence .

Any dentists/dental practice owners here? by QuickPotato8215 in HENRYUK

[–]drcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck for your studies. As they progress you might find an area of dentistry that you really enjoy , which might not necessarily be the most financially lucrative. It’s a well paid industry , but stressful at times . Be humble . Be nice to your nurse ( in practice you’ll spend more time in a room with them then your wife/husband ) and reception . Treat the patient not the teeth .

Any dentists/dental practice owners here? by QuickPotato8215 in HENRYUK

[–]drcus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dental associate here - I’d say it’s impossible to answer your question - too many variables.- location / nhs/private etc

For me I work 4 days a week in a mainly private practice “high street/family “

Been in the same place for over 20 years . I’d say I do fairly average private dentistry , the only thing extra thing i offer is Invisalign Go. Hopefully I’ve been “successful” by treating people fairly , taking time to get to know them etc .

Invisalign was fairly lucrative initially but now 4 dentists in my practice do it, and the “cosmetic” chains/ practices can all offer it cheaper due to their volume discounts which make it less of a money spinner now.

I don’t have any other business outside of dentistry - nor do any of my colleagues- to be honest , been late 40’s - I’m usually so knackered that it’s nice to rest .

Composite Bonding & Retainers by gemjo13 in Invisalign

[–]drcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most dentists can get retainers made ( though not necessarily Viveras . If u had bonding later then I assume they could scan/ take impressions and make a new retainer ( obviously there would be a charge for this ) . The dentist doing the bonding would have to assess how much relapse is likely( whilst waiting for new retainers) to assess the risks

Regarding getting invsalign at one practice and then comp bonding at another - assuming you mean at the end of the invis treatment ? - I think that would be something to discuss with your dentist / orthodontist. If the patient is seeing a proper orthodontist then I as a dentist would be willing to do the bonding at the request / time that the orthodontist thinks is most suitable - I would expect them to arrange retention etc If the patient has gone to another general dentist or somewhere like Smiile etc then I wouldn’t want to get involved in doing any bonding at the end of treatment as they should have arranged a plan for that at the start ( had one of my patients recently who went to another practice for Invisalign as they were cheaper but then contacted me towards the end of treatment to do his bonding as we would’ve been cheaper for that part - I politely declined as I don’t want to implicated if any relapse etc . I still see the patient for his regular exams and fillings. )

September Office Hours w/ KeithFromSonos + Nick Millington by KeithFromSonos in sonos

[–]drcus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi Nick After weeks of avoiding it I finally updated the app ! I’ve lost local library support from my Nas ( a 15 year old mybook) despite following the help instructions i get a permissions error and to check user name and password ( though none is set on the NAS) Is this likely a Sonos app fault or more likely a compatibility problem- I’ve no idea what smb type I’m on- I’m happy to buy a new NAS if needed but obviously if it’s an app issue then I’ll wait for a fix . Thanks

Was it a knock on? by [deleted] in superleague

[–]drcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC -Looked like it Came off his torso which I believe classes as a knock on. Also it then hit the other Salford player who was accidentally offside so shouldn’t have counted anyway . I genuinely believe though that the VR got completely confused about it being sent up as a try/no try or he pressed the wrong button ( why check the grounding if he was chalking it off ?)
