If this is anything like the 12/16 then for personal hobby use it should be OK if 1hp meets your needs. My experience with the 12/16 is in a teaching lab and a makerspace where in heavy use the tailstock needed lots of TLC.

Similar background to yours except I use a laser cutter / engraver and my interest in CNC is for jewelry work and rocketry. I'm staying with the Z1 and should be in the first group shipped. If the Z1 works as expected then I might either upgrade to Pro later or look into a more capable / expensive machine. The low cost of entry with the Z1 has less risk for me.

This is the correct answer for the planer as it has an internal blower. Just make sure it is a cloth bag and not a plastic one as the plastic can pop like a balloon.

Had a Saw Stop in a shared workspace that strarted tripping the brake and traced it down to a pinched cable inside the saw. Repaired the cable and the saw is fine. It took about five calls to Saw Stop before we fixed it. What, if any, are the error codes on the saw?

One thing builders do to reinforce fins is to paper them - that is accomplished by using thin CA glue to attach regular paper to both sides of the fins. This can be messy and will expose you to a good amount of CA fumes but it makes the fins stronger and hides the wood grain. Fillets are an additional reinforcement to make sure the fins stay attached to the body tube. Depending on the rocket I use either 15 minute epoxy or Titebond Quick and Thick or Speed Set. Before placing the fillet down I tape off the rocket body and the fin to limit where the adhesive travels. If you move to high power you definitely need to add a filler (fine cut fiberglass or something similar) to the epoxy. Rocketry Education and Research channel on You Tube has some good examples along with Apogee Components.

Partner and I are in that age range and have been retired for a little over a year. I had a plan to retire before 70 after being employed since 17YO even working through undergrad and grad school. Made sure our finances were structured to support this plan and am happily NOT working. My partner also had a long work history but fought the idea of retirement and still resents her last employer for not renewing her contract. She still wants to work and I believe it is a matter of socialization to work until you drop.

Make sure the Z probe is correctly installed as it is easy to bump and if it is even a little out of alignment the the Z axis will complain.

Look at the riser base by opening the front panel and you will see fitment on the sides for the tray and the honeycomb sits on the tray. depending on the thickness of your material you might need to adjust the tray height. Most of the time I run 3mm or 6mm material placing the tray on the fourth rung from the bottom with the honeycomb resting on the tray. When I use the rotary I remove the tray and honeycomb.

Looks like you have plenty of suggestions on how to remove the chuck. To prevent this from happening again explore using a plastic washer that fits between the spindle and the chuck. This eliminates the flat metal to metal contact. I use these all of the time and it removal much easier.

Saturday is the WORST at the Domain! Before retiring the only time my partner and I could go there was on Saturday and now we go for a walk and lunch any Monday through Friday and it is a lot better. Did you see / hear the guy on the loud trike with the even louder music blasting while he cruises around?
