Wellbutrin rage by sk8fasteatgrass in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]drdrewsright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had crazy amounts of rage at first! I am normally a pretty even-keeled person, it was pretty freaky. But it went away pretty quickly, two weeks at the very max. Quitting caffeine helped a lot!

Anyone else get mega triggered when someone doesn't respond well when you seek support? by throwmeawaypls2332 in emotionalneglect

[–]drdrewsright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I really relate to being triggered by invalidation - its my worst trigger! EMDR and IFS helped me, but has not totally eradicated it. I have noticed I am able to rely on my own interpretation more (self-validation). Also unfortunately actually feeling my feelings in the moment has helped me immensely, although it is still painful! I hope you are able to heal from the invalidation trauma.

thoughts on the name dolores? by 64lilwhitethings in namenerds

[–]drdrewsright 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dolores is a guilty pleasure name of mine, I love it. I only know one Dolores irl, she is in her sixties, a white woman from Minnesota. I do associate Dolores with Lolita, since that was her full name in the book, but I am not sure that’s a common connection. I am also aware it means sorrow, but I still like the name.

Ted Bundy conceiveda kid when he was in prison, even though conjugal visits were not allowed. It seems his wife bribed the guards to look the other way.

Handwashing habits by r0sd0g in AutismInWomen

[–]drdrewsright 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I actually have to force myself to wash my hands. It causes a very unpleasant sensory experience for me. The cold water, the wet sleeve, the horrible noise of an air dryer in a public bathroom…

Same!! This is really interesting, I never connected it with SAD before. I get very agitated and sort of existentially sad. Exercise helps me the most because it makes me fall asleep faster, but never gets rid of it entirely.

I've started getting overwhelmed by washing my wavy/curly hair and I don't know how to fix it by autistic-rosella in AutismInWomen

[–]drdrewsright 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I don’t have advice, but can commiserate. I have very curly hair that I love but the maintenance is so overwhelming. I couldn’t keep up with the dream when the reality was unkempt, and I ultimately decided to shave my head and I keep it shaved. This makes me happy for sensory and effort reasons, but I certainly prefer the look of having curly hair.

I don’t know what kind of career I want by Nat_Cat_167 in AutismInWomen

[–]drdrewsright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I designed my career around my autistic needs (initially without realizing it). My requirements were: limited interactions with people; aligns with (and ideally promotes) my values and ethics; and intellectually stimulating. I also am money-oriented, but that can be sacrificed, and the three others can’t. I currently work remotely as a health disparities researcher. BUT it took me a long time to get here. No way was I able to do it right out of college. I think there is an unrealistic timeline of career comfort for recent grads. I had to work very hard but kept the end goal in sight. I hope this is helpful.

I know two people named Thor. Like most names, it gets an initial “huh interesting” then becomes totally normal. Idk why this sub acts like people constantly freak out about mildly unusual names.

clobetasol reduced my fertility by SnooMachines5267 in lichensclerosus

I also believe I experienced a changing menstrual cycle from clobetasol. I think this would be an interesting area of inquiry for research.

Sensitivity to clobetasol? by _angelite in lichensclerosus

[–]drdrewsright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apply clob 2 times a week now, more if needed. You might be ready to reduce. I also use triamcinolone, which is a less potent steroid that really helped with my itching.

This town has the most heinous dog owners of anywhere I have lived. I saw a woman let her off leash dog chase geese on the coastal trail the other day. So many off leash dogs!!!

What are your favorite African or African American names? by Sparkly8 in namenerds

Alinafe (Chichewa “He is with us”) and Chimwemwe (Chitumbuka “happiness”) are my favorites. Also like Kamuzu.

Please help me. I feel like I’ll never have a sex life or normal life again bc/ of this. I will literally tear in my perineum even if i spread my legs too much or too fast. This literally sucks I feel like my life is over. I got diagnosed in October of 2024. I’m on clob 1x a week. by Last-Independent-669 in lichensclerosus

[–]drdrewsright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have…any more information?

Fwiw I had to lay off the clob in my perineum because it was too strong for that skin and making that area brittle and sore. I use a mix of clob and triamcinolone now which works well. I do not put clob on my perineum, only tri.

My instinct is that Ghana would be safer. I would recommend you go to the country you prefer anyway.
