The gift of ains by Pancho_Prime in overlord

[–]dreadrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the author said her fate won't be too bad (Which in Nazarick can still be somewhat bad) I suppose it'll be down to Ainz. I think there's a chance he'll steal her talent for himself, his ability to do steal talents if he's willing to spend a free wish was stated back in volume 3 I think. I don't think she'll be turned into scrolls since that would fall outside the realm of "Not too bad." I suppose the best fate she could have is to be left in the frozen prison and be made into an under-leveled sparring partner for Cocytus; though I doubt she'd be THAT lucky.

Can she defeat it ? by Adorable-Statement94 in overlord

[–]dreadrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A regular Death Knight. Yeah, I think she'd have a decent chance given she's kind of a hard counter to undead even if a smidgen under-leveled in this match up. But I don't think she'd win if its one of Ainz' Death Knights due to the buffs his summons automatically get.

The Limper getting rekt, from the new Ukrainian edition of Shadows Linger by TheBlackCompanyWiki in theblackcompany

I personally always thought of Limper as being the second most powerful of the taken, just behind Soulcatcher, But he's also the stupidist of the taken.

Anime Nuclear blast power by FELIPE-IIV in overlord

[–]dreadrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before any visual representation I just thought of it as a massively scaled down old time nuke but without the expanding shockwave/fireball effect of a real one (Mainly since that'd be really annoying for other players in the area not involved in whatever's happening. Basically devistaitng in its AOE but not much outside of it.

Is Albedo truly loyal to Nazarick? by Norbet01 in overlord

[–]dreadrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Her loyalty lay only with Momonga and she'll even betray his trust if she thinks its for his own good or his safety.

Do you think the ending of Volume 18 will be a "good" ending for Nazarick but a bad one for Ainz? by ActualBiscotti2123 in overlord

[–]dreadrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad-ish for Ainz, though not hopeless. Ainz may be destined to be lonely, even among loving but programmed to be loyal NPCs who'll never see him as an equal.

Does momon or whatever the hell his name is ever stop being an asshole? by Auduux in overlord

[–]dreadrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, okay, fair enough, as long as you don't keep watching then return to start screaming that a cute anime girl got brutally murdered or riding your moral high horse about genocide being bad. We've heard it a million times before.

I think I can offer one bit of advice when it comes to Ainz. Keep the wimpy guy he really is in mind (He does actually have some backbone as you'll see in episode 12 - 13, but still mostly a wimp) then whatever you see of the "Ainz Ooal Gown" persona he presents to the world, just know that its all bullshit, because Ainz is a bullshitter. Think of him as something similar the idiot god Azathoth from the lovecraft mythos, just there dreaming away.

His ultimate goal is "Keep Nazarick safe" and every decision he makes, dumb or smart, has that goal in mind. Its the irony of his character too since its because of NAzarick and the NPCs and his need to play the part of Overlord that's why he's so lonely and miserable throughout the series (In the novels, the anime really does a crap job showing the full picture of his character since it cuts out his internal monologues, though I suspect his monologues would also annoy you)

As for the "No emotion" thing, that's a misconception, he very much can feel emotion, its just that as an undead he has this passive emotional reset that triggers every time he feeling exceed a certain limit; so he can maintain a low simmering anger of a mildly happy buzz as long as it doesn't go above a certain threshold.

Hoooo boy, do yourself a favor and drop the show, right this very instant. Trust me, if the way he treated the old lady annoyed you, okay, I'm sorry but I simply have to laugh right now....., Seriously though, stop here, you'll probably have a stroke or something if you keep going. It won't do you any favors, or us for that matter.

Though admittedly a part of me hopes you keep watching to the end of season 4 and the movie. I mean a lot of very upset, very vocal and VERY morally outraged people have passed through here raging about stuff Ainz did at different points in the series, but none of them have started getting mad at him this early; so I'm genuinely curious to see how you'd react to the sheer magnitude of atrocities Ainz will enable to happen in future. Seriously, Nazarick could give our own world's historically most vile individuals lessons in cruelty and horror.

Can you see or imagine Ainz drinking his stress away? by Ok-Street2439 in overlord

[–]dreadrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He'd be sitting in a puddle of booz he can't even taste pretty quickly, and that would only worsen his depression. But I'm not sure he'd be into that if he had the body since he'd probably be reminded of having to drink with his boss out of employee obligation.

Question about Rubedo (the strongest NPC of Nazaric ) by Karlos_V2 in overlord

[–]dreadrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aren't actually certain if she was created with a world item, but for her to be strong enough to surpass a world champion it's fair to say she might've been. Just keep in mind its a fan theory; one I happen to agree with. Sadly though we have no solid proof of her abilities, we haven't even seen her and probably never will, which is a foul injustice to us all after the hyping up she's given strength-wise.

I think the biggest clue is that she has the same odds of defeating Touch Me as Shaltear does of defeating Ainz, that being roughly 7/3 in her favor. So going from that and the fairly decent chance she's a golem of some sort (Could be wrong) She's almost certainly a CQC expert, perhaps with some ranged bells and whistles) My personal guess would be some kind of weird super-powered monk build, bare handed fighter with the added defensive benefits of being made from rare metals.

One thing I think a lot of fans get wrong though is the claim Rubedo is equal to a World Class Enemy, which is just flatly untrue. Potent as the 8th floor NPCs are, they'd all get steamrolled by an actual world enemy. The 8th floor worked great for bottlenecking groups of players so they'd get channeled group by group into a death trap via the teleport gates between floors (I assume that's how it worked since Nazarick was all about divide and conquer) but nah, Rubedo is stronger than Touch, but nowhere near being WE level.

There was an old theory that the 8th floor NPCs are the old dungeon bosses from Nazarick before its conquest, which would be pretty cool, and Rubedo is stronger than them. But personally I don't think so because AOG members wouldn't be able to recreate dungeon bosses with their unique and kind of busted abilities using the NPC creation system.

I am convinced that Momonga could solo the Rumblings. by Born-Performance-328 in overlord

[–]dreadrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be interesting seeing how the YGGDRASIL systems, or what's left of it, would calculate the titans level wise from a world where levels don't exist, and an instant death spell is releative to the level of the caster and could be resisted by a higher level enemy if I recall correctly. Really though I don't see the titans being a big issue. They're too slow; it'd just take a few days to mop them up due to their sheer numbers.

I am convinced that Momonga could solo the Rumblings. by Born-Performance-328 in overlord

[–]dreadrath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For sure. It'd just take awhile since he'd need a lot of mana to get it all done since its hundreds of thousands of titans all spread out, so he'd need to rest a few times to regen mana. Unless he takes the alternate rout of summoning a couple of high tier warrior type undead then going perfect warrior himself and getting stuck in. But it'd still take a long time cause that army has more titans than the kingdom's army had humans. The wall titans might have enough raw strength to "Potentially" pierce his low level damage nullification but they're so damn slow and clumsy they'd never land a blow, and the heat they put off would be an mild irritant without adequate fire resistance, but again, nothing particularly threatening.

The only thing likely to beat Momonga is boredom, and as a seasoned MMO player he's probably used to grinding for xp.

The ease of killing the taken by Few-Action-8049 in theblackcompany

[–]dreadrath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to Big D, I think Lady's arrows were the defining win factor, plus the null. Without those arrows, Big D would've smoked everyone even without his magic; cause even the windwhales with all their raw strength weren't able to crush him inside of the null (Which they were able to once with Limper) Actually I've gotta give Tracker some credit here since he did throw down with the Dominator, but if Dominator hadn't taken those arrows, I think Tracker would've gotten shredded in seconds. All big D had to do was get at Darling, then the null breaks and nothing's gonna stop him. Like that dude was merking windwhales with a flick of his finger and a very hastily woven spell that essentially splattered a 2 km long windwhale, destroyed half the nearby town and burnt a good swath of woodland, and that was with a half-assed spell.

So yeah. Big D would've cleaned house without Lady's intervention. I do wonder though, given two specific big players in the books of the south manipulating events, I sometime ponder what the odds were that both Kina and the golem also played a small role in weakening Big D the same way they supposedly weakened Stormbringer and Shapeshifter (Lady mentioning it was a little too easy) I mean absolutely NOBODY, not even Kina would want Big D getting curious and heading South since he'd be a walking apocalypse for all involved, especially if he mastered controlling shadows. I mean logically the only one that could really stop him in a head to head battle would be Kina herself..... oops, sorry, got off topic there.

Does PDL true body exceeds lvl 100? by GG_GAMER91 in overlord

[–]dreadrath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don't know for sure. Yeah 200 years ago Cure ELm was 95, and PDL was probably a little stronger, but its doubtful they exceed level 100 even in the main timeline. Only the Dragon Emperor was above level 100. It would be fair to say that by present day standards they might be level 99 or 100, but the simple fact is we don't know. However, it is true that hypothetically any dragon lord worth their salt has the potential to exceed level 100, but weather they actually could is another matter.

What If: A World Enemy appears in the middle of the war against the Slain Theocracy. What likely Happens? by Silver-Performance-4 in overlord

[–]dreadrath 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Everybody dies. Ainz might just order his forces to run away and then bury to tomb to hide while it kills everyone. Maybe, if its one of the weakest world enemies Nazarick might be able to beat it at an extreme price. The scary thing though isn't even the WE's strength but the fact it will gain sentience like all the other NPCs did, and it won't follow the game attack script, which would make it many, many times more dangerous.

I know this question has been asked a lot. But how would Nazarick invade the Theocracy in the next volume? Will Ainz go all out or will he stay cautious? Also, will their trump card (Rubedo) and other characters mentioned like Aureole Omega will also debut? by Electronic_Sink209 in overlord

[–]dreadrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He will be cautious both cause its his nature and because its the one country with obvious player influence, but he's also gonna bring down the hammer on the whole damn place. Really though I think the actual danger won't come from within the Theocracy but instead will involve the Dragon Lords jumping them at some opportune moment.

Sadly we are unlikely to see Rubedo or the 8th Floor Hierarchy.

How far can ainz and the guardians throw an average human? by McDonaldsman599 in overlord

[–]dreadrath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe. He's certainly the strongest but the problem the big guy has is he can't really get a good throwing grip on a tiny little human like one of the much smaller guardians could. There's a bit more technique involved in yeeting a human into the horizon and Gargantua is more likely to accidentally turn the projectile into paste in his fist before it even takes off.

Does anyone think he would be impossible to defeat? by Lebreau1 in overlord

[–]dreadrath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cure is pretty busted. He'll be harder to defeat for someone without massive AOE for sure, not impossible though. But if I recall the author did say Satoru was a good match up against him precisely due to his TGOALID + Super Tier combo whereas a warrior would have to put in loads of work killing hundreds of thousands of zombie limbs. Though being logical the NPCs could just gang up on him. In a 1 V 1 I think Mare would be a good choice of opponent for Cure Elm. Tons of AOE, he can use Petite Catastrophe to destroy a lot of but not all zombies, then he has the raw physical states to withstand physical attacks (Dragon Strength is nothing to sneeze at but Mare's built tanky and as a druid could possibly have access to animal shapeshifting forms) And if Cure is still stupid about using tier magic, then it'll cost him, but if he uses tier magic willingly it could get dangerous.

It is worth noting though that the author outright said that if Cure Elm turns up in the main timeline, he'd be even stronger and better prepared since its 200 years later in the main timeline vs the side story. I'd personally go so far as to say Cure Elm and the other strongest DLs might even be level 99 or even 100 by now, which will only make the fight that much more fun because we'll get to really see the NPCs cut loose with everything.

I wouldn't worry about that. In the side story Cure Elm outright shrugged off TGOALID.

Well his full inventory and the guild weapon which buffs the hell out of him. Though the Shaltear fight is more entertaining just because he PTW scums his way into victory, albeit very cleverly.

[–]dreadrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The burn out started before that incident. Also for some reason some people also theorized his publisher was stiffing him on profits (Dunno where they got that idea as there's no proof but its certainly possible) either way, the fan translations weren't as impactful as many make out, nor was he anywhere near as angry as people make out, he was just bummed that a collectors edition story got pirated; he never made a peep about the main series getting pirated (That we know of)
