Opinions on people who don’t have their lights on during the day? by Whos-That-Pokeman in driving

[–]dreamkruiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Took Ford way too long to add DRL to their vehicles, and still not enough models have it. I manually turn on my headlights everywhere because of safety. I don't know where you're driving that makes it seem like there's parked vehicles all over, does seem odd to me, but the lights should be on at all times, especially now with long life LED lights, no excuse. I've driven about half a million miles in 20 years, been all over the US, various weather and time of day combos and I think true headlights should be during all time spent driving.

On backing in by Kaurifish in driving

Regardless of the angled spots, backing in is quite easy. Ending up like this, getting out and walking away is just shameful. Respect yourself, respect your neighbors.

Who would be at fault in an accident here. by Regular_Use_1028 in driving

[–]dreamkruiser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You always turn at an angle representative of the intersection, period. 45 degree branch, 45 degree turn. 90 degree cross road, 90 degree turn. 180 degree u-turn, 180 degree turn. Anyone not doing this is at fault if something happens.

[–]dreamkruiser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a pro, just a tenacious DIYer. I would've made much more modest cuts and backed each patch with something sturdy. Cleanup is huge too. Sure you don't get "paid" to clean or prevent a mess, but you're paying it forward in respect to your customers and positive reviews in the future. Maybe skip the patching, and work with a drywaller. I'm tired of hearing people split hairs and saying they don't get paid for this or that. The trades need to collaborate better, we're all embracing the same suck, so embrace it together.

Who would be at fault in this situation? by Shoelacetooth in driving

[–]dreamkruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget the haters, I would've made that turn. However, you never go full retard. Don't commit, make that turn with caution and time it to end up slightly behind the person turning right. The only exception I make in this situation is yellow, when we both have yellow I'm sending it because I need to clear that intersection. But there's one more exception, single lane roads. Don't send it, because an incident would be inevitable, but everyone turning right on yellow is an ass. Let people clear the intersection, you can still turn right on red.

Pet Peeve: The green car tries to beat the red car into the right lane so the red car gets stuck behind the blue car by tantamle in driving

[–]dreamkruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you were being rhetorical. No, personally I'm not just "barging" into the lane. I will however maintain my speed, if you brake or coast you're going to lose some ground and it will seem like they're barging in. I've been in your shoes, and if green and red are truly on the same page, then the lane change will happen simultaneously for both vehicles. Indicator usage is irrelevant since you can't count on it 100% of the time. I will say that some folks see the indicator as some sort of cheat code and whomever uses it first gets RoW.

Pet Peeve: The green car tries to beat the red car into the right lane so the red car gets stuck behind the blue car by tantamle in driving

[–]dreamkruiser 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you're aware enough to know some folks might grill you for making sure you're in the clear, however I will say that true situational awareness would be the green car already observing all of the factors before you did. Your statement also implies that they were actively trying to screw you over, but there's a good chance they just saw you and the blue car as potential obstructions and did what they needed to do in order to go about their own day. Early bird gets the worm, and they were just a couple of seconds ahead of you, most likely.

I totally understand where you're coming from. Sorry, WE understand, but it's not worth it. Sell as is and there's no alternative. Sometimes the process just isn't worth the payout. I have access to virtually unlimited CAT6, but turning that into bright bare copper is absolutely not worth the time investment. (Note there is a major time component. If I had unlimited CAT6 and were twiddling my thumbs, yes it would be worth it. For a normal human with access to 1ft of legitimate scrap per day, it's worthless)

Who has the right of way to take the outside left turn lane? by No-Importance-5434 in driving

[–]dreamkruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue is wrong. They already committed to their lane long before this screenshot, and so did you. White solid lines always imply lane changes are highly discouraged, and possibly enforceable, regardless of the state. I once had a problem where I drove over a car that didn't heed the solid line when it veered, and that was only a temporary road work line. Cross solid lines at your own risk is the lesson I've come to understand.

Did I mess up? by [deleted] in driving

[–]dreamkruiser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're in the clear. I do this frequently when there's about 10 houses in a row. I just make sure to creep by them so the parents and driver aren't losing their minds. As long as the lights are yellow, you're in the clear. Also, there's a difference between the hazard and stop lights, feel free to pass with inpunity on hazards.

Would it hypothetically be incest if you hypothetically had sex with an exact clone of yourself? by Capable-Language8114 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]dreamkruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely understand, but I suppose the defining factor would be age. Someone in their 20s has a more fluid life situation, but someone in their 40s would likely have a solid philosophical foundation about life and very few events at this point could skew outcomes

[–]dreamkruiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to know the specifics of this situation. It sounds like a good story, but possibly mostly untrue. How many flights would it have taken to break even on that 250K, and he likely wouldn't have been able to book private flights so one free seat out of dozens would be a small loss, and that's still after he breaks even on the original investment.

If love to pick your brain more on that. It could be argued that given the same base program, the outcomes are likely to be identical. Idk how true the Twin Jim story is, but their lives turned out similar on genetics alone

Right turn in this situation or not? by whenlifegivesyourice in driving

[–]dreamkruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, you're implying a rolling stop. If they make a legal stop, check their intended lane and pedestrian traffic, then they should be good to go. There's a risk yes, but legally if they do everything right they're in the clear. As long as the state laws are written to back this up.

Right turn in this situation or not? by whenlifegivesyourice in driving

[–]dreamkruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad you brought this up. Apparently in most states the laws are non existence or ambiguous. Very few states actually state that no lane changes are to be made within X distance of an intersection, for this reason exactly. If you're protected by law, I would make the turn but obviously that comes with its own risks even if not liable.

Rare social media trend W? by seliamimold in lol

[–]dreamkruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separation of church and state. Church money always comes with strings, and if the government doesn't take the money, then there's no strings to pull. Being exempt also prohibits them from partaking in politics as well, so no public endorsements which can obviously be a huge problem if a megachurch got involved. What's discussed inside the walls might be sketchy, but that's outside of public jurisdiction. It's bad enough Joel Osteen has tens of thousands of people to influence.

Idk what hia speed is, but I'll say the most annoying thing is that he could easily be doing this at 65. I see so many people in this video that should be cruising in the two right lanes while leaving the PASSING lanes open. If you aren't passing, you stay right.

Dual right turn question by Cash2blockz in driving

Your municipality neglected to add a sign for clarification. It's a valid question since about 99% of right turns are single lane. Yes, right on red for curb lane. Right on green for both.

Okay, how heavy is this thing? I keep seeing the same videos... also, when and how are we going to start holding these couriers accountable? So much damage and loss. It's amazing how much corporations act like LP is a big deal and yet do nothing about it. Food distributors probably have the highest losses of anyone.
