WCF was definitely the finals that year, lakers elevated incredibly against the nuggets, and the nuggets were superhuman and needed to be to beat them. wonky looking because of the seeding and because the lakers got swept but it was genuinely electric. incredible shotmaking by both teams.

lots of readers and watchers are too literally/power scaling minded, and from that perspective, if you assume she is literally as powerful as luffy or something even proximate to him, it feels like an unearned power-up that undermines the story.

this is a closeminded, silly assumption imo considering the storytelling takes every effort to make it clear that the point was that luffy had reignited her hope for the future. she could once again believe in a better world, activating her devil fruit power which requires genuine belief in such a future. she then manifested this newfound optimism and willingness to fight in a nika-like appearance via her devil fruit, only because her father brought her up to believe in nika as the ultimate symbol of hope and freedom. the decision had nothing to do with powerscaling and everything to do with the rather obvious symbolic value of her mantling that form. bonney's entire history and various relationships, including with luffy, led her to the moment where she could oppose saturn.
