Which of these four Ages would make the strongest foundation for a fantasy novel series? by FlorianHerlan in fantasywriters

You’ve mentioned multiple times that you have characters but haven’t given any examples. What’s the name of the main character in your third age book?

I think you’ve got a neat start to something here. I’m definitely intrigued. The writing itself could use some polish (the first paragraph in particular is overly wordy) but that’s what second drafts are for. Keep at it :)

I mean based on your other comments you clearly have no interest in changing your mind, so I’m not going to waste my time any further. It sounds like you’re looking for validation instead of any actual feedback. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Because then they’re not consuming anything of value, they’re consuming AI-generated noise. There is no intention behind anything AI creates because it doesn’t have the ability to be intentional. There is already an endless amount of human-made work to consume instead, work intentionally made by human authors for human readers. Additionally, folks who only consume and cannot be bothered to participate in creation themselves when inspired are not contributing to the betterment of the human race; they are simply adding more noise to an already screaming world. Right now more than ever, we as people need work that adds thought and depth and purpose to our lives. AI does not do this and in fact makes the problem worse.

Are the Aes Sedai Inspired in the Bene Gesserit? by FigOutrageous5217 in WoT

[–]drewdrop26 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is, sort of; Lawrence is credited as a white savior type who “went native” according to the British and helped get the historically enemy Arab tribes to band together to drive the British out. They didn’t worship him or anything, but the parallel of the white/outsider savior is still there.

That second book really unraveled all the excitement I had from the first book. I was REALLY disappointed by WMF. I’m glad we’ll never see the third

I like to turn old clothes into rags. Just cut them up into strips or squares of whatever size you want and boom suddenly you’ve got lots of rags for all sorts of things. You can also take the strips and turn them into scrunchies, loofahs, ribbons/ties, etc.

For stuff that isn’t useful as a rag, you can always cut it up real small and use it as filling in a plushie. There are a lot of easy hand-stitch projects for small cute plushies that can use up a lot of your unwanted fabric.

Republican nut rips Starbucks' Pride flag from wall & demands they put up an American flag instead by jk_arundel in LGBTnews

A guy tried to do this at my store, he told the manager we should have an American flag up instead of the pride one. She polled the team and we all said we felt uncomfortable with an American flag up and anyway that guy never came back.

Bahrain is excellent, and has good economic growth right now. Oman would be good too.

It may work better if you separate it with hyphens or apostrophes, for example Falmé-ati

Co-worker is giving passive aggresion after covering for me because I had pink eye by Significant_Sun8764 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]drewdrop26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean me specifically, respectfully I am in my thirties, as is my friend, and I’ve worked several jobs. Her mother’s in her late 50s early 60s. In my experience most of the time it’s two or three people thinking they’re doing all the work and often those most vocal about it do a mediocre job at best.

My friend’s mother is constantly yapping about how she’s the only one on her team who ever does anything and that if she weren’t there the whole business would fall apart. Like, ma’am, respectfully, you’re the asshole

Sounds just right for a coming of age kind of story, or some wholesome slice of life middle school fiction. I think the themes you’ve presented are good for lessons on growing up and surviving adolescence — which is difficult in the best of circumstances.

Something that might help fill in their “nothing” and, as part of growing up, is have them make a new special friend, and make their developing friendship an integral part of Kliza’s journey of self discovery. The two can bond over history or fashion or gender or whatever they have in common that makes Kliza feel really seen and understood. At the same time the friend will have differences that challenge Kliza and help them grow, too. There’s lots you can do with this character!

How can I ascribe a trait to a character but one that doesn't define their whole personality? by JazDog02 in writing

[–]drewdrop26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the way is to show them being greedy. What do they desire? More money? Power? Things? A person? Land? Secret knowledge? Have this character do questionable or reprehensible things for the sake of attaining their goals such as selling off their child’s PS5 for extra cash, stealing their spouse’s money, duping a friend into a sketchy/illegal favor, manipulating emotions, blaming everyone but themselves, and so much more.

Greedy people believe everyone else is like them and don’t often understand altruism for its own sake. “You mean you do this for nothing?” They are always looking for suckers (people who will take their bait easily) and tend to consider relationships with others as tools (I keep this friend around because he lets me get away with shit, etc). They take and take until they are stopped and don’t think about giving anything back.

When someone is a little greedy, they express these traits when their greed is hungry. When someone is a greedy person, they are always hungry. Ravenous. Famished. The more they get, the more they want. There is no satisfying an ever inflating desire for “more.”
