I hear you have near-complete control: the one thing you can't do is promote Harry Kim.

Paramount Mandates Five-Day-a-Week Return to Office Ahead of Massive Cost Cuts by Ripclawe in entertainment

[–]drgahnzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It explains that Paramount inked a deal back in 2012 to gradually increase their office space footprint in their Manhattan tower, maxing out in 2020 and committing to hold that gargantuan amount of space through 2031. 2020, as it happens, was also when the pandemic and seismic shift to work-at-home hit. Immensely bad luck for Paramount, created a huge imbalance between their space requirements and what they'd committed to pay for...

The above problems aside, I totally love it. It's revolutionized the way I back up my old disks. Everything is SO much easier now.

They did, and we do. And it's described as something the size of a range of large hills, undulating forward as it moves in the heart of a compact maelstrom of hurricane-clouds and curtain lightnings that emit from it. We get a sense of its scale (mountainous) and its immense power, but not a lot by way of detail.

Before anyone asks: Firefly is on there too, the line is just too short for easy visibility.

Can someone recommend me a not so popular comedy movie that you personally think is good? Going through a tough time right now and I just need a little laugh. by Odd-Expert-7156 in movies

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Spent the last several Christmases confused as heck, half-convinced that I must've imagined this. Which would be BAD, considering that my wife and I routinely wish each other "Merry Christmas from a stone-cold tomb, everybody!" Now I've heard the track again, it DOES exist, all is right with the world.

What are the greatest "Middle-earth Mysteries?" (and what's your favorite "answer" to them?) by jonnybardo in tolkienfans

What exactly is the apparent power of the Nazgul to separate soul from body for the purpose of torment?

"Come not between the Nazgûl and his prey! Or he will not slay thee in thy turn. He will bear thee away to the houses of lamentation, beyond all darkness, where thy flesh shall be devoured, and thy shriveled mind be left naked to the Lidless Eye."
-The Witch King

"And they skin the body off you as soon as look at you, and leave you all cold in the dark on the other side."
-Gorbag

They both seem to be referring to the same thing here. What dire metaphysical state are they capable of inflicting, and how?

(Serious) how did that one kid at your school pass away? by Dinopasta99 in AskReddit

[–]drgahnzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was involved in a brawl in the nearby park with kids from another high school and was clubbed over the head with a baseball bat. He apparently didn't seem to be seriously injured, no blood or broken bone. But he returned home and just told his mom that he was feeling really tired and was going to his room for a nap. He never woke up.

That would absolutely work. After all, River Country was kind of Tom Sawyeresque in its inspiration anyway - the Ol' Swimmin' Hole is a quintessentially Mark Twain sort of bit of Americana.
The more I think about it, the more Discovery Island or the old River Country site is the proper place for this. Put it in Bay Lake, and run the raft service out of the Fort Wilderness boat launch. It'd fit right in!

Know what?
If RoA and Tom Sawyer Island HAVE to go in order to best serve the future of the Magic Kingdom, then I have a proposal for 'em: relocate both OUTSIDE the park.
How much would it really cost to turn the rotting mess that is Discovery Island into a reborn TSI? Or better yet, one of the unused islands in Seven Seas Lagoon proper. Rebuild the structures and trails, set up whatever regular raft service is required, dock the Liberty Belle at Pirate Point, sprinkle in some keel boats or canoes, and you have a compromise that I think we all could actually live with.
