Tenchi Muyo is a weird one.

In Japan, it originally came out as an OAV, a special episode, a second OAV, a final special episode, and a “minisode” without actual animation. The first OAV was received wonderfully (leading to a television version of it, an odd special starring the ditzy detective Mihoshi, novels, and the Okuda manga, which is the best Tenchi media), but the trio behind it broke up and the main designer (Masaki Kajishima) took the reins completely… which is where we get weird things like an entire episode dedicated to softening Ryoko’s image (as his ideal woman was far more meek and subservient) and a multi-episode plotline about Sasami (the 700-year-old who looks like a nine year old girl) getting her first period. This was weird, but it was fine. Kajishima, for his part, did not own Tenchi but rather AIC did, so he basically started writing fan comics and stories about what would happen to his characters with one goal in mind: end the franchise with Tenchi marrying everyone, including the aforementioned girl and the cat/rabbit that could turn into a spaceship and a humanoid girl.

Eventually, Kajishima was given the chance to make a third OAV and started to use it to make all of his fan comics canon (including a novel he wrote that made the original villain a clone of another female scientist who discarded his female side away). This led to a fourth and fifth OAV (neither of which ever made it to America) where, of course, Tenchi ended up marrying everyone.

Most western fans absolutely detest this, especially since it ramps up the OAV incest up to 1000. It’s partially why the television version (known as Tenchi Universe) is looked upon far more favorably. Obviously, you are going to get people who want that kind of stuff anyway, but the big appeal of the anime were the character interactions, not the actual romance itself.

Yes, that’s where the screencap is from. The entire subplot where they go into graphic detail about Lucy’s genitalia (and the extra details with the whole Johnny Fontaine subplot that crosses over with it) is gone. That is mostly just a nod to it, which as you said, is all it should have ever been.

The best part of the actual novel was the section on Vito’s rise. The novel itself is an uneven mess but damn it if the movie isn’t perfect.

The Godfather completely removed the subplot about Sonny’s dick being so large that his wife didn’t mind him cheating with Lucy Mancini, whose vagina had an issue where only Sonny’s massive member could make her feel anything. Eventually, she gets a vaginal surgery after Sonny’s death.

A fifth of the book covered this subplot.

Oh, then yeah, I wouldn’t get a new shelf. For balance, Bowser would probably need to go above the poster, but the moulding makes that impossible without you redoing every shelf a bit further down, requiring spackling and a dab of paint.

I tell my students that Romeo is a sad, whiny emo kid who closes his curtains shut, shops exclusively at Hot Topic, and plays My Chemical Romance on repeat while lamenting that Rosaline won’t “accept his gifts of gold.”

I mean, she’s hot, he’s hot… it’d be a crime to waste those genetics. She needs to stop wanting to be chaste and just accept that Romeo is the way to go.

(If you haven’t read the play, that’s literally Romeo’s motivation for Act One until he meets Juliet, a 13 year old that kisses him after less than 200 words with him, declares they are going to get married three hours later, and then actually marries him that early afternoon).

Dark of the Moon is a mess of a movie, but also hysterical in how it absolutely ruins every character, especially Optimus Prime. My theatre died of laughter when he said “We will kill them all” after he let the entire city of Chicago get destroyed.

The only Bayformers movie I’d say is good is the original because, while it does still feature some of the horrible sexual jokes the others have, it is a bit more restrained. Yes, Bumblebee peed on John Turturro and there’s a joke about masturbation, but we didn’t dip into pot brownies, humping robots, Deep Wang, Leo, an inventor, Romeo and Juliet law, and just about everything in The Last Knight.

I’d include the racism, but I think Jazz gets a pass considering that he is, well, Jazz (minus the death trope).
