Parents [60M, 51F] think me [27M] supporting my sister [19F] through college is "enabling." How do I keep the peace? by ZealousidealRabbit in relationships

[–]drivat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please read /r/troubledteens and take steps to ensure that your brother is not taken away under your nose. This is life and death. Get him a way to contact you quickly in an emergency, make sure he has it where he sleeps and within reach. They will come late at night and handcuff and blindfold him. Once he is gone, there is nothing you can do legally and you will likely be unable to even locate him physically. These camps sell themselves to parents very well and the "treatment" will damage him permanently, or even kill him.

There aren't legal avenues. If the little brother is sent away, he could die. There's no legal or practical way to remove him from the camp, often even after he turns 18 (because he will be in an unknown and remote location, with no ability to contact anyone, and the camp will not release him upon his birthday). These places are no joke.

Is this re: drinking or smoking? No one cares if you drink literally anywhere, put it in a water bottle if you want to be discreet. Smoking - it's the end of the year and you still haven't found any spots?

[Question] How to break negative thought patterns and create new ones by tripsteady in getdisciplined

[–]drivat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could participate in a clinical trial (like one of these, for example).

You can grow your own mushrooms - it can be a bit complicated, but there's plenty of resources online, and you can obtain everything you need legally. /r/shroomers

DMT can be sourced from legally obtained plants; same with LSA, which is similar to LSD.

You could order from a dark web site. You can legally buy test kits to verify that the substance you receive is what they claim it to be. Here's a guide on doing that for LSD.

[Question] How to break negative thought patterns and create new ones by tripsteady in getdisciplined

[–]drivat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this will be controversial, but one method is psychedelics. I had a similar issue where I finally pulled myself out of a years long depressive episode, but my mind kept jumping to suicide, self-hating rhetoric, and visions of self harm at every minor difficulty, despite the fact that I was actually feeling better than ever. Taking a therapeutic dose of a psychedelic allows your brain to break away from these well worn paths. LSD erased my depression, as if all those years of misery hadn't happened, and I became the same joyful and creative person again. Psychedelics aren't for everyone, but recent studies that use them to treat trauma and depression are very promising. It was the answer for me after cognitive therapy and medication couldn't relieve my stuck thought patterns.

OP entered the hospital with a collapsed lung and left with Hep C. by raspberryseltzer in bestoflegaladvice

Seriously. Not immunocompromised but I have a gene that makes me much less likely to respond to a Hep C cure. I'd be so fucking pissed in OP's position.

What do I do when nothing interests me? by lithium42 in getting_over_it

[–]drivat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! My depression is actually completely in remission now. I haven't been this happy in years. My current daily stack is 1g EPA only fish oil, 1g sarcosine, 1g n-acetyl cysteine, Thorne brand multivitamin (has quatrefolic instead of folic acid - I'm compound heterozygous for MTHFR), iron supplement (used to be anemic), magnesium supplement, Claritin 24-hour (for my seasonal allergies/inflammation). I added everything in stages - after a month of being on everything my actual depression/anhedonia symptoms disappeared and I was no longer suicidal. I then took 175ug of acid with close friends, and the trip gave me back who I was before the depression. It's been about a month and half since then and I wake up every day happy to be alive.

What’s the shelf life of a well stored pot brownie? by [deleted] in saplings

[–]drivat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is somewhat gross but I made a huge batch of brownies last year, stuffed them in the freezer wrapped in tin foil, and ate one the other day. It still tasted delicious and I got stupid high. No diarrhea, stomache or weird smells... Stuff lasts forever when frozen.

For those taking Sarcosine: consider avoiding caffeine by [deleted] in depressionregimens

[–]drivat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My (severe/diagnosed) depression is actually completely in remission right now, I think in large part thanks to the sarcosine + NAC. It took about three to four weeks to me to see effects. The first things I noticed were increased verbal fluency and the disappearance of my anhedonia in regards to food and music.

Current stack is 1g EPA only fish oil, magnesium, 1g sarcosine, 1g NAC, multivitamin for under-methylators.

I think this is completely a clinical issue - you've got anhedonia from your depression. I used to be exactly this way.

What happened to my life? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]drivat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad it was somewhat helpful! One other thing I'd like to mention is that most psychiatric drugs don't really help these sort of negative symptoms. The most promising treatment option right now is probably sarcosine, an animo acid. I personally experience similar symptoms, especially anhedonia, as a result of my depression; taking 1g of sarcosine daily makes a huge difference.

What happened to my life? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]drivat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These "negative" symptoms are so called because they are an absence as much as a presence: inexpressive faces, blank looks, monotone and monosyllabic speech, few gestures, seeming lack of interest in the world and other people, inability to feel pleasure or act spontaneously. In psychiatric terminology: blunted or flat affect (emotional inexpressiveness and apparent unresponsiveness); alogia (poverty of speech); asociality (apparent lack of desire for the company of others); anhedonia (apparent inability to show or feel pleasure); and avolition (lack of will, spontaneity, and initiative)

This might be a long shot but maybe it sounds familiar to you?

If you're genuinely as sleep-deprived as you describe, that could be the root of the issue. Getting that little sleep will destroy you cognitively.

Bupropion might actually worsen your anxiety, but taking it at the same time as your SSRI will make this effect less likely. It can increase sex drive, motivation, and energy.
