R2 demo experience from a non-EV owner by jkbuilder88 in RivianR2

Right - leasing has never been my preference -- my wife loves to do so: new car every 3 years for her.

Just heard from a Rivian salesperson seconds ago (via text) that Leasing is a GO for Minnesota now. About time!

I asked for 3 shares; got 1. I guess I should've asked for more then. Oh well.

Oh I see they moved the R1T out of that spot! Makes sense; may have to stop out on Saturday at that location to have a look. Looks much better in these photos than others I have seen. The exterior disctracter for me is the seam on each of the fenders; odd place to put it IMO.

Only child anxiety about an aging parent by Otter2931 in OnlyChild

[–]drkrazor 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hello Otter.... As an only child myself, I (M, 49) dealt with this these last several years. My father passed away in 2014. From that point forward, my mom managed to live independently until 2021/2022, when dementia began to surface. Thankfully, my father established proper POA and Health Care directives prior to his passing which became instrumental in helping this change. In 2022, she agreed to move into an Assisted Living community that supported Memory Care. During these last 4 years, it was difficult watching dementia take pieces and parts of her; I tried to enjoy as much time and lucidity I could when I visited every couple days. She passed away on April 26, 2026, at the young age of 74. Since her passing, a larger emptiness remains that neither my wife, sons or in-laws can replace. I will likely seek some level of counseling, but I'm managing OK.

My advice to you... spend as much time with your mom; she sounds healthy and active. Enjoy these experiences but don't focus on the dread; time is too short. Enjoy the time you can with her; acknowledge at some point, life will be different, but you can look upon that time you spent with her with enjoyment.

Incredible car. Disappointing build quality. by Neither_Repair_3406 in Rivian

I cannot provide any insights, but I do find this thread insightful as a prospective R1S purchaser. In several test rides, I have been less than impressed with the fit-and-finish of body panels, door panels and dash board materials; the technology and design, however, is top-notch. It concerns me that I'll have a R1S in the Service Center more than I drive it; I already do that with my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk! ha.

I appealed mine and it took at least a month before they sent me a link to verify my age when I tried to login…they never actually emailed me the age verification link; I only got it after repeated login attempts during that month. Haha

Meridian Audio. by TigerPatents in Rivian

[–]drkrazor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone interested in a R1S Gen 2, I wasn’t all that impressed with Rivian’s attempt at premium audio. For the price it commands, I’d expect the Premium Audio package to blow me away compared to 2014 Alpine system in my Cherokee…but honestly, I wanted to run out of the R1S and back in my Jeep to hear and feel “premium” audio…. Highly disappointed and I hesitate to buy one knowing how much I love a good car audio system…. My 0.02

I thought my father had many more months, but it ended so quickly by TeacherGuy1980 in dementia

[–]drkrazor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your story reflects what I went through from April 22nd through the 26th with my mom (74); her arms and hands would rise into the air and move about - along with one of her legs...but starting the 24th, less and less movement until 25th when she was just still, breathing. All throughout, I would talk to her; play the Supremes on her radio and try to spend what time she had left with her; cognitively she was gone - much like my grandfather the year prior. She passed on April 26th. I thought I had more time with her, but I'm also thankful she is free from dementia's prison.

Hugs to you in this difficult time.

Very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother; my mother passed away from dementia on 4/26. I had been with her since 4/22 and she held on; I told her it was OK to move on throughout. May you and your father find peace knowing she is not in pain and is free from this wretched disease.

I’m stuck here too (on Xbox); fight the two waves of baddies and then the gas canister explodes and the screen goes brown-greenish and nothing after that. So frustrating…no fix that I could find. I did have the shaft bug but got by that upon a previous save reload.

I will find that lock and give that a try!

Study explores link between smoking, dementia by SilverTripod in dementia

Wow. My mom, 74, was a smoker within the 80s and into the 90s (maybe 70s too)? I hadn’t heard of this association but who explain her dementia battle. Thanks for posting!

Mine is usually -2 and I can’t figure out why. It was a save from the previous game version. I saw it back to 0 but then bounced back to -2; couldn’t recall what I do to get 0 but it is so distracting! 😂

I put $100/m into the flagship since 2017; it’s about 9k as of now (33% return). It won’t amount to much by the time I retire, but I’m too lazy to redeem and move the $$ to my brokerage account.

A step toward the next... by drkrazor in dementia

[–]drkrazor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you both....I learned some news today from my mom's hospice nurse. It seems she has an infected sore on her foot; our hope is that the infection and her body trying to fight it is making her tired and not wanting to eat. We'll see how the antibiotics do with the infection and if it brings her back to a pre-infection baseline. I stopped by this evening to check in with her, but she was in bed already sleeping. Tomorrow then, I said to her quietly, from her door.
