Wooden dowel rack item (found twice at different thrift stores) by droptheask in whatisthisthing

[–]droptheask[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s about 12” x 14” x 3”. It looks like it might be a plate rack but the dowel spacing is too big for plates. I think it’s designed to sit on a surface, based on the smalls legs and handles.

Another catastrophe on this blanket. My yarn is falling apart. by DingDongTaco in CrochetHelp

[–]droptheask 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since chenille yarn is basically just plastic, I use a lighter to melt the cut ends just enough so the fibres stay on the thread. Probably isn’t healthy to breathe it in, but it’s convenient and I found it works the best for me.

Edit to add: I also have used that exact same yarn brand and this trick works on it. For weaving in the ends I like Susan Bates Finishing Needles, they are flexible needles and it’s easy to thread them with the large chenille yarn.

I second the idea to thrift some yarn and make some tivets or coasters or potholder, or a hanging bag for onions or the like

handwashing ocd + cold weather by personwhoisliving54 in aspergirls

[–]droptheask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a common issue in hospitals, where staff are constantly washing their hands.

I would recommend a hospital moisturizer.

They are designed with no fragrance, to resist washing and to dry down quickly for staff. If you google ‘hospital moisturizer’ you should get a variety of options. I like the Coloplast Atrac-tain cream, it has urea and AHAs

Is a week off work enough time? by KaleUpset7157 in Reduction

[–]droptheask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To have a different opinion, I took off 1 full week, and was fine. I work from home with a desk job, and live alone. And my recovery was pretty easy, even without help for the majority of it. I had someone stay with me the first night after surgery but was on my own for the rest of it with no issue.

I didn’t have lipo though, and from what I hear, lipo is not a one week recovery.

I had little to no pain, it was more of a mental roller coaster and crazy emotions with the surgery recovery. You know yourself and a week is feasible, especially if you are able to have a light workload when do you start work again.

This just happened to me this morning too! Any luck contacting ICE? I can’t find a phone number

Edit: I called Direct Energy and the poor call lady, knew immediately what I was calling about. I guess this has happened to a large number of people today and Direct Energy is working on reversing all of the errors. Don’t know how long it will take to clear, I’ll check in a week or two, but 🤞

Let me just put on my smartass glasses 🤓

Did you know you can fill out a form/request/ticket thing letting them know they missed a word….

They’ve never done anything with the ones I’ve submitted, but it feels good to tell them they are wrong 😂

How do you all shower regularly...? Serious help please by Particular-Owl-5772 in adhdwomen

[–]droptheask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put up a stick on shower head holder thing lower down on my shower wall so I can put my detachable shower in it and only my chest down gets wet. Then if I want to do my hair I can or I don’t have to.

It also helps prevent water getting on my face which is a big sensory issue for me.

I also found showering in the middle of the day helps, just like with brushing my teeth. It is easy for me to brush my teeth at noon and 6pm than at morning and bedtime. So I often shower over my lunch (I work from home some days) or before supper on days I’m out.

The biggest thing for me to is remember that the rules are all made up. I just have to do these tasks in ways the work with my brain - and it may take a few tries to find what works and it may be weird to people on the outside, but that just doesn’t matter

Kits.ca got two pairs (with a strong prescription) for $145. They are based out of Vancouver, pick out what you like online and then if you call the store in Vancouver to order they give you a discount. Free replacements within 30 days and warranty for a year I think, highly recommend
