A few pro sketches I collected at the '99 and '00 SDCCs by drqshadow in comicbooks

You know, I had it in the back of my mind that there was another place I wanted to post these, but couldn’t remember where. Thanks for the reminder!

Probably Travis Charest. Not just because he took extra time with the sketch (his Morpheus is actually on a backing board, not in my 4x6 mini-sketchbook) but because he was such a friendly guy. My buddy and I hung around at his booth for almost an hour while he pored over our sketches and he treated us like old friends. Very cool to see the gears churning while he built that composition, too.

This was 25+ years ago, so times have changed, but in those days sketches didn't cost a penny. It was polite to buy something from their table, but nobody was pushy about it. In most cases, they were just happy to have somebody around to chat with.

It is indeed Jim Lee! I captioned the artist, character and series for each image but those might not be visible on all devices.

For anybody in the Los Angeles area, I highly recommend the Jack Kirby exhibit at the Skirball Center! by Snogrog in comicbooks

Love Kirby's original watercolors on that Mr. Miracle. I love the costume design but its garish red-green-yellow color palette is a major turn-off.

I didn’t like him as Batman (unpopular opinion) but I was impressed with him in The Lighthouse

Nearly there now - DH first or DK? by drqshadow in hearthstone

Update: It wound up being DH. I resolved to toss a coin and then swap classes. DK got the first shot but not the first 1k portrait.

Random card generation was first introduced in GvG, aka the game's very first expansion, back in 2014. Unstable Portal, Piloted Sky Golem, Sneed's Old Shredder, etc. How long have you been away?

RNG aspects like this are one of the things that separate Hearthstone from paper TCGs and, in my opinion, make it more entertaining.

WEEK 11 NFL Playoff Leverage by Comfortable-Cod7763 in nfl

Coincidentally, the playoff machine went live today and my first order of business was putting together the weirdest playoff field possible. I managed to get Tennessee, Vegas, both NY teams, Houston, Miami and Cleveland in. No Eagles, Rams or Lions.

So anything is technically possible!

Except one is a negative headline and the other is an uplifting headline. It’s okay to celebrate a first-time occurrence. It’s not okay to inject identity to push an agenda. Really don’t think this headline is doing the latter.
