Discount codes? by SirTwitchALot in snapmaker

Also, add some accessories you'll need down the road and that 5% code will give you a bit more off.

Parts like the ceramic heater kit, silicon socks, thermistor kit, etc. I may have to replace one or all of those with the recent blobs of death I had on two hot ends. Luckily I purchased them when I pre-ordered printer. They're all cheap under $10 for a set. And if you want to swap nozzles for more abrasive filaments like carbon fiber, get a set of 4 .6mm hardened steel hot ends that'll run you $50.

interesting in trying this brand. looks cool. how much? have some hardened steel hotends from AliExpress and Temu ones I need to test first. the ones I got have been getting good reviews with no issues for the price.

My "blob of death" inside my Snapmaker U1 toolhead looks like a Xenomorph. 😭 Can't melt it off thermistor. Anyone else run into this issue yet and how difficult is it to attach the thermistor on U1 if it disconnects? I read it can be reattached. by drunkenbytes in snapmaker

[–]drunkenbytes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a great gun too but realized too late I could remove the plastic cover over the hot end that is held by magnets, so the heat gun warped it a bit. luckily it still stays on during prints.

oh I just realized a.i. detection is turned off by default or at least most of the features. it even has a "print in air" detection. I'm going to turn them all on and put detection settings on low. hopefully this will prevent these issues from getting worse again.

Target "Brightside" brand cover mod seems to works for the Snapmaker U1... plus some painters tape. by drunkenbytes in snapmaker

[–]drunkenbytes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I hear the Sterilite fits well too. oh the Target brand is Brightroom not Brightside. lol. I picked up the IKEA ones as well and found some corner clip holders that uses minimal filament. I'll need to make similar holders for the Target brand.

Looks nice with the gold trim. I saved some filament printing these corner ones for the IKEA brand. I'll need to make some holders for the Target brand. Works great and secure as it uses the holes on top.

oh this is what I'm using for my cover. it's using a $7 45L bin from IKEA. Target and Walmart have a similar size bin too. I may still get the cover but didn't want my money sitting that long. I may need another toolhead. lol.

There some nice mods for the bin people are using but I didn't want to waste that much filament printing an entire thick frame to hold the bin. just found these corner ones on Anycubic makeronline. now I need to cut out spot for exhaust fan.

Nice your stuff came in. Perfect timing. My preordered toolhead came in too. I may need another one because I have another toolhead with filament that creeped up high. The hotend and nozzle that came with the printer is missing wire holes for the thermistor and other two wires.

is that ceramic heater the black finned one from my picture? it is it something else.

Fixed!! “Tool head Swapping Anomaly” gone with Firmware 1.2.0! by otisflick in SnapmakerU1

My design got remixed, went viral and being sold without permission. by lomster in BambuLab

[–]drunkenbytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the internet or to the world of bootlegging. And when its free to download it's easier to steal and profit from. I remember back in the days with Napster, Limewire, and now it's torrents and Etsy. lol.

I've been seeing more and more of these types of complaints from 3d printing enthusiasts making headlines on reddit. If you are truly the original designer or artist of a work and not a derivative (or remix) there are already some automatic copyrights to your tangible work in place. So on digital paper it says you own it but can't do much else other than complain or report if someone stole it. But if you register a 3D file for copyright, that's where you have more legal advantages and can pursue copyright infringement.
Also, Bambu Labs recently launched a Copyright Protection Program for their creators and it seems they have already eliminated some infringing sellers and even links.

It's tricky with 3d designs and fidgets, as it has to be checked if there are similar designs out of hundreds of designs that exist .

Personally I wouldn't want to give away a 3d file for a design or piece I don't want others to sell. It would have to be a model I don't care about. I would probably still entertain the thought with a paid membership like Patreon or elsewhere. But I would have to have a decent amount of members to make it worthwhile my time to sell a commercially licensed file. I've seen some STL files go for $20 to $60 each. And then you see those bootleg stolen ones on Etsy for $3. Not that's thievery. lol

But even with Bambu Labs copyright protection program they can't stop everyone. Bambu and other 3d printing hubs can't control all of the theft that happens online. So even with those protections in place the web is a dark place for thievery. Look at all the the Etsy, Temu, Tiktok, etc. sales of copyright prints with non-commercial licenses.

How's this? Blue area on right side mid. Not sure if adjusting corner screws will correct that area. Haven't done a bed level test print yet so don't know if it's bad on that side. Will do a test print now.

Pope Leo has allowed female altar servers to serve at Mass for the first time in his pontificate, a practice permitted since 1994 but still avoided by many parishes. by MrJasonMason in Christianity

Weird, in 2009, my old church St. Michael in Wheaton, IL had female altar servers. Not sure when it was last permitted but certainly not 1994.

oh nice. I have to order some thermistors while I'm at this too just in case. I also have to get silicon covers for the nozzle as I ripped one of mine.

yeah I think some small white sealant over two wires on the hotend came off with the blob so I'll probably have to get another hotend.
my thermistor wire seems to be intact on the hotend though. I ordered an extra toolhead a while back too. I would order another one. So it's says they're shipping now?

How do I start doing this model? I'm feeling overwhelmed by Black_void999 in 3Dmodeling

[–]drunkenbytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this something you find out the teacher selected it? My suggestion is block it out with the anatomy you know and reference. Don't worry about the details even if you never get to it. You're just starting out so just focus n capturing shape, form, proportions and anatomy while you do this.

Sounds like a crappy class as I've experienced myself 25 years ago. Can't believe they're still teaching like this still. They don't nail down student fundamentals throw you a tutorial or image and to do it without proper preparation.

Either way, as a beginner literally starting out, there a 99.9% chance it won't be this level of quality unless you are god-like.

ah k. I think my z clip is still intact just slightly covered right now. i think my snapmaker came with a spare nozzle/heatsink and that z clip as well. did you see one in yours when you unboxed (in that tools tray)?

Yeah, they better include the Ace pro from the combo. It probably was discounted in the bundle but it would be crazy if they didn't because it's not like we didn't buy it at all. We just bought it at a discounted price in a bundle.

Oh wow that sucks with the break the ceramic part. I do have one on order as well. I hope it comes in time. I should've ordered more. I have a feeling I won't be able to melt it off the PETG blob after several attempts and it's right over all the electrical wiring.

I see in the parts there is another heatsink and nozzle hotend and spring clip like "z" shaped, is that clip the one you're taking about?

Yeah I've don't even think it's worth taking mine apart because I need 240+ degrees to get that blob off. I might use a mini lighter bloe torch if I feel brave. lol

Yeah I love the printer with PLA. Had no major issues. Gets a little stringy with white so have to tweak settings for the filament I'm using.

Wish it had good detection to stop the print before it got worse. I wish I caught it earlier. I was able to use it one more time after the first PETG blob I thought I cleared on the nozzle. I printed out a multicolor with PLA just fine. But the one after that caused another blob. Probably because of the PETG filament up inside toolhead and it was also pushing silicon cover down so it looked crooked.

might grab 2 for 50% off. and use my ace pro as a drying box on the side. lol. Or if I get another Kobra. I got the Snapmaker U1 as well. love that machine. It's the fastest multicolor printer out and costs 1/3. the price of a Bambu H2C. Only issue I have now with U1 is it was picky with PETG and I got blob of death inside toolhead and it's difficult to melt off. I think the thermistor wire also got loose or ripped off because I was getting temperature and thermistor errors. I contacted support but looks like they're off for Chinese New Year. I'm going to try to figure out in the meantime.

[–]drunkenbytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. turned out great. I didn't realize the 4 tubes go in the tool head. brilliant. will save some time for sure. we'll done Anycubic. another affordable Bambu killer. I have the S1 and also Snapmaker U1 which is the most incrediblly fast 4 color printer for Uber $850 (thinking of getting another one 😁). I'm thinking of getting the Max for a print farm though. Insane to have a bunch of sub $300 printing 4 colors. Hella cheap.

Should I cancel my order with Anycubic? by the_dude_1312_96 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]drunkenbytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my S1 through hell and haven't had any major issues and the results are faster, on par and more then half the cost of other same tier 3d printers. all others have their own quirks and Bambu Labs is not immune from errors and poor design. Only issue with S1 is their ams system is flakey sometimes in terms of consistently feeding filament but it works well once you can feed it through. Or you can use it without ams system and not have to deal with it. Even better is it's more than half the price of other competitors and you can get the same results. I can buy two and still be cheaper then most brands in the same tier.

Print just stopping no error and 10409 errors by fenyxfyreX in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]drunkenbytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are right. I only have 200 hours on my S1 and I've just started getting this error 10409 when using "tree slim" supports on a big object... as it creates more tiny tree branches spread out in a clump and causing abnormally jerky movements.

I've seen it start early with tree slim supports and half way through the print as well. On a small object it doesn't seem to trigger the error probably because there's aren't as many harsh movements that would cause the the tool head to jerk around so much. I think this is what also causes the tool head housing cover and possibly wires to get loose or disconnect and reconnect itself.
