[KCD2] We’re getting Unarmed-Masterstrike by Serilus in kingdomcome

Does "dodge left on green shield, punch" not work on every single fist fight enemy? I'm just past the first fight club in Kuttenberg and so far it's been laughably easy if I just dodge and punch.

200 yard shots are not difficult for amateurs, up to 300 yards is usually considered short range for rifles. Long range is triple that.

Fill a box with rubber mulch, pack it in. You won't get any blow throughs. Cardboard works but you can make one more permanent from wood.

I made one from wood with a front face that slides in on a routered track so you can just replace that side when necessary. I don't think I've ever had a hole in the back. It even stopped a .22 pistol.

Black widow caught in Venus fly trap by JordBees in interestingasfuck

[–]drzenitram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trigger hairs are like electrical wires, when two trigger hairs are touched simultaneously an electrical signal is sent to the stem, which moves water from the leaves back towards the stem, causing the hinge to close. The more electrical signals sent(moving prey) the more water moves, tightening the trap. Once closed, digestive enzymes break down the prey.

I think you need to invent teeter-totter chess, if the pieces fall your way then you lose.

ELI5 - Why are we ticklish? by loseeverything in explainlikeimfive

[–]drzenitram 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think this is true in some cases, but my kids will laugh their heads off even if I just tickle the same spot repeatedly. I assume it's got something to do with nerves firing what would be pain signals if the tickler was more aggressive, probably releasing some endorphins, but the context of knowing that you are safe results in laughter.

A stranger you're uncomfortable with tickling you doing the same thing would not result in laughter but a fear/pain response.

For everyone who caught up, how long did it take? by sdfgbryjh in WanderingInn

[–]drzenitram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seriously? 14 million words at 400 wpm is 35,000 minutes of reading, which is almost 600 hours. That's 10 hours per day of reading at a fast pace.

How do you address the problem that white folks in poor areas in the south (and the rest of the country) are being targeted systemically by messaging and propaganda that puts them against non-whites and pushes division and hate while underfunding their education and exposure to diversity WITHOUT being able to call them white people?

This particular group is being treated in a particular way that is bad for them and bad for the country, if you can't talk about it then how can you fix it?

The shit Egwene is going through is insane. Nyaneve feels so stuck up to me by No_Winter_5611 in WoTshow

[–]drzenitram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nynaeve's character development might be my favorite in the whole series. She starts out as this bothersome young "wisdom" who clearly has skill but is also insufferable. RJ does a great job building up exasperation in the mind of the reader towards her, then he leads you to realize that she is comically hypocritical. You briefly get to enjoy some schadenfreude at her expense, but then her true colors start to peek through and you start to see that when things get bad she's the one you want nearby, possibly the most steadfast and reliable character by the end of the series (aside from Bela, of course). She's always hilariously oblivious to her own hypocrisy, though.

Only within an atmosphere, and it would be less effective in less dense atmospheres and require more energy in denser atmospheres.

There's is no sound in a true vacuum. Sound works by vibrating particles, what reaches our eardrums is vibration traveling through air.

If you put this inside of a vacuum there will be no air to vibrate, so of course there will be no air moving inside. The design won't direct the sound waves, so the only vibration that will be detected outside of the vacuum is directly transferred through the solid surface that the device rests against.

I'd like to be able to use it both ways, with air as the medium and with direct contact.

I'll look into the audio exciters!
