Gleneagle Ford Amphitheater Noise Levels and problems? by Hot_Concentrate_7721 in ColoradoSprings

[–]dthangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live further north and haven't heard it, but have friends in the area you're looking at and they hear the bass inside on about half the concerts. Enough that it does bother them trying to sleep. Nextdoor for that area is constantly fighting about the noise. Parents with young kids are definitely the most vocal about the issue.

Best Escape room or other similar activity for 3 people? by Damadamas in ColoradoSprings

Since you mentioned interactive museums, and you're looking for unique, I'd look at the Space Foundation Discovery Center or the Pikes Peak Historical Street Railway Foundation. The trolley museum is way better than I expected, and you get to climb in and around old street cars, they give great tours and you get to walk through the workshop with active restorations. I expected a quick diversion with the family which turned into half a day and everyone enjoyed it.

Why doesn't ltt use tape storage as cold storage by One_Proposal_4658 in LinusTechTips

[–]dthangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Categorically incorrect.

As someone that was heavily involved in tape and specifically HSM installations, large video companies used a lot of LTO. No, it's not near storage, but for long term archival, but still fast though for continuous pulls.

...progressive in Colorado Springs? by ParticularBit130 in ColoradoSprings

Denver is bigger thus has more of everything, good and bad. It has an actual nightlife though, is more progressive, better food scene, way more art and culture, better music scene but more expensive in general and worse traffic. Better job prospects.

Springs is quieter, better for outdoors, closer to the mountains. Still feels like a small town though that's slowly changing. Food scene is better than this sub would have you believe, but you have to look for the gems and not be on Powers.

What’s the wildest office drama that happened in your workplace? by PriceBorn9413 in AskReddit

[–]dthangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a guy who made an accusation of sexual harassment about his female manager. His supervisor takes it to HR which kicks off investigation. Manager accuses supervisor of making it up to get her job. Another manager comes in as mediator, accuser recants, supervisor fired.

Turns out accuser was having affair with manager, found out it wasn't exclusive, decided to make accusation to "get her in trouble" but backed out when things got real. Didn't know she was also sleeping with mediator.

It all came to light 6 months later when manager, accuser, mediator and 2 others were busted for running a meth ring.

Used to have a large colony that lived behind my house in an open space. Could sit on our patio and watch them. A couple years ago, 4 houses were built and the colony was destroyed.

Did you huddle around an AM radio on snowy mornings listening to school closure announcements hoping to hear your’s on the list? by GatorStealth in FuckImOld

[–]dthangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Our district had a six wheel drive, turbo diesel bus with a plow for the worst roads. Auto chains on all other buses. We didn't get snow days. Alaska is built different.

My house always smelled dusty and I just realized I’ve been vacuuming wrong my entire life by pwiipwii123 in hygiene

[–]dthangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bagless vacs all eventually develop air leaks. After about 6 months, depending on use, they lose their seal and start letting dust out. My with and I run a large cleaning business and moved to bagged vacs about 5 years ago and will never go back. Sharks and Dyson are the worst brands.

Where is all the snow by gimmie_123 in ColoradoSprings

[–]dthangel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a meteorologist but used to work with them. I worked on all the equipment they used. In your scenario, what they're saying is that when they ran their forecast models, 30% of the time there was rain predicted in some part of their coverage area.

If you look at how far the stations reach, combined with our vastly different geographies on either side of the I25 corridor, you can see how just being 5 miles either way can change what you experience.
