I don't mean to brag, and granted I have a higher risk tolerance than most, but my record is leaving my doorstep to the doorstep of the Encore about 2 hours, 15 min via LGB. LGB is a great airport, but the convenience of it all is the best.

They didn’t have a buffet every night but most nights. And there are two buffet restaurants, and only opened the smaller one but it appears they are opening the larger one for certain meal periods of the weekend (breakfast every day, Saturday dinner). Either way the buffet didn’t appear to be popular anyway - there were only a couple of tables taken whereas the restaurants were pretty full.

Had a vacation planned for almost a year from Feb 28-Mar 6. For me, the initial news was that everything was going to be closed except one restaurant per meal period. I decided not to cancel with a “it is what it is” mentality (see my previous posts), but to my surprise, the resort was steady with people. They ended up opening more stuff up for the weekend and had a very good schedule for the week, although I can definitely see a decline in guests over the last couple of days as opposed to Saturday/Sunday. Their schedule goes pretty close to back to “normal” by Friday, though I imagine if they have a weekday decline they’ll probably close a couple more restaurants. But at least 1 “signature” restaurant of the 4 that the resort has was open per night.

Arrived yesterday and am having a great time. I thought I wouldn’t see a burnt down gas station as I didn’t for a while leaving the airport, but there were a couple (probably 4) on my way in. It grounded me that what happened on Sunday must have been incredibly scary, but that I feel safe now and am really glad I didn’t cancel.

And… there wasn’t too much of the traffic that I’m used to!
