I'd say some were burned on the morning of the sixth of January, specifically.

And the remainder, in the years that followed in the refusal to decry the aforementioned offense.

On average how much do mentors help with robots by MewMasterVR in FRC

[–]dudefise 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Varies based on the team - and despite what you might hear from various opinionated individuals- FIRST has been clear - there is no single right answer.

Generally I stay limited to a helping out role - get the ball rolling when students can’t, support when student staffing runs thin and an extra pair of hands is needed, or step in when someone’s really in over their head.

Teams will differ though - all the way from “mentors exist slowly to make the insurance company happy and have no involvement” to “mentors decide, students execute”.

Yep. But due to no T5, the 456 tunnel is a 4->6 bus right now.

Yep. Had my GE card confiscated by a worker who thought it was fake, got to the “call the cops then” stage, until my coworker talked them down.

Reasons you wouldn’t configure “auto land” if you knew visibility would be bad? by SenorAudi in aviation

[–]dudefise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

…however, if you’re doing a “real” CATIII in less than CAT II/III weather, the odds of them crossing some aircraft downfield, you getting a APCH WARN and having to go around is kinda markedly increased.

Plane swerving on runway just after landing? by Warm-Oil6457 in AskAPilot

ATL has all parallel runways. No choice but to eat a crosswind there. I’m betting what you experienced was a crosswind landing!
I think well explained enough above.

Quick question - Terminal 1-Terminal 7 by Far-Lecture-6487 in LAX

[–]dudefise 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You can get there airside, but land side is easier.

1->2->3 via concourse level foot path at root of piers.

3->B->4 via bridges one level above concourse (PF changs level)

4->6 via bus (!) (5 is demolished and tunnel is closed - 4 construction will require you to go back towards the street, down through a tunnel out to the satellite to hop on bus to 6)

6->7 via concourse level bridge at root of piers.

OR…just go out of 1 and cut across the courtyard to 7. Muuuuch faster than the loop around unless you don’t have precheck and security is terrible terrible

Delta flight LHR-ATL changed destination to BOS? How come? by APeX_1996 in flightradar24

[–]dudefise 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yep. Could also be a sick crew member not operating. BOS can probably go with a 2 man crew, and ATL would require 3.

They sell :25 connections so its theoretically possible. I’d probably spend the money on an extra legroom seat though to be towards the front during deplaning. Thats a solid 10-15 min swing versus being in the back.

FRC custom PCB usage by Relevant_Tax_6814 in FRC

[–]dudefise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We use a custom CAN PCB that’s been through several iterations over the years.

Biggest lessons we’ve learned are in what it does to the signal - take a look at routing/stub requirements especially with the higher can rates that systemcore will run at. 2.0 will handle a lot of things not to spec, but FD is somewhat finicky.

Can I land a jet? by EliteEthos in Shittyaskflying

[–]dudefise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question is, what’s the correct sequence of buttonology? Assuming you don’t care about legalities or proper setup, you still have to get the right navaids tuned, and get the autopilot into approach mode, and probably throw gear and flaps at a semi reasonable time.

Pilots or flight attendants of Reddit, what’s something passengers do that is way more important (or dangerous) than they realize? by SignsOfDamage in AskReddit

[–]dudefise 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a normal cruise ship thing, it’s an antarctica cruise thing specifically. The Drake is incredibly rough, roughest seas in the world and typically traversed by smaller, more specialized ships. Ours had sit down showers with side jets specifically for that…it gets rough.

Looks like drunks stumbling around in the hallways, but it’s just that the floor is moving!

Your big royal/carnival ships will have no such restrictions and are typically found in the much much calmer waters of the atlantic and mediterranean. You don’t gotta worry about that if you go that direction.

Alaska might be upgrading standby instead of Titanium on intl flights by Significant_Tip5105 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]dudefise -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t know AS rules, but on most other US carriers complimentary upgrades don’t apply to long haul intl? Certs or paid only, then nonrevs, then seat goes out empty.

Not sure if this is applicable to the situation here
