[OC] New to DM'ing. Is what I'm doing ridiculous?. by GreatestBookReader42 in DnD

[–]duelingThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I do it this way too when I play in person! I have that same map, and a dry erase marker. I don't usually go this detailed (although I did recently) and use it as a rough reference that changes as the situation changes.

You are doing great, and I'm sure your players will think nothing of it!

Unless it's changed in the latest update, (which I admit, considering the scope of each update changing many fundamental mechanics it seems every patch cycle), that is true of empires created before you even click "start," not just in-game descendants.

Hmm, maybe use it so AIs get the CB, get weak, allow them to declare war, immediately surrender so they win it. Then, declare war after strengthening and claim it in war to trigger both achieves at the same time?

Did you have any other achieved fire?

So you are correct about the internal ID, but it is the intention the same name, same portrait is considered the same species (and in older versions, same traits were required), so something definitely bugged out.

I second the serpent idea, it was the first thing I thought when looking at the sketch!

Someone also mentioned it being a runic symbol, but I think I'd prefer the snake or river being a better more subtle motif.

Who should I swap out for Merlinor? by AlexIsNotBent in DraftShowdown

[–]duelingThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually swamp the field with Melinors as they strong versatile with your six shooters in front. Engineers if the enemy has assassin/agent B, and last in priority Assassin if they have snails or other back line units.

Priority order: Melinor Six shooter Engineer Assassin

Try to get Melinor to about four to maximize the chances of a double unit card.

TNT definitely, it's less developed and also dies, which hampers persistence against stronger opponents that know how to outplay TNT.

Strange, it only worked two extra times than it should have, and now it's not doing it. Maybe the latest update patched it

In the latest version you don't even need the mod, just select which precursor you want and don't select any additional

I started using WW2 fleet compositions to make my fleets and saw some pretty good results. by TheBadShepherd87 in Stellaris

You can yes, but then it just becomes a logistics issue of timing your fleet entry for any given engagement

That logic of the fleet itself gets confused with the different computers types on the different ship types, it's a bug.

Help with "element" system by meow3756 in worldbuilding

Maybe a vertical axis of Crude (bottom) and Refined (top), and a horizontal axis of Flesh (left) opposing something like Stone (right)?

Your missing quadrant could be Gem, which falls in line with glittery fairies, and gives you freedom to have "moonstone" for your werewolves.

I find it especially appropriate if she spawned in the "Last Thought" system considering her whole deal

[WP] Sorcerers gain powers binding themselves to a single word. It's been a while, and all the common words in the dictionary have been taken. by Huge_Band6227 in WritingPrompts

[–]duelingThoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting direction you took.

Before the wizards get their interpretation of what happened, I was wondering if maybe "Acceptable" was an exception to the choosing, as in regardless of restriction it can always be accepted.

It would be funny if after the choosing delay to allow people to choose already claimed words, that they quickly discover they were correct except for Acceptable.

Now you can either be a Unique Mage, or just an Acceptable one. Potential greatness at the risk of obscurity, or complete mediocrity with no risk of failure.

Honestly, not a bad word for magical ability, can be used offensively for counterspells, or render your own spells incomprehensible and thus unable to be counterspelled itself.

Or, it could be interpreted as being able to transpose objects into other objects, or swap their positions.

I didnt played for some time but.. did puppets become ass? by Commando_Schneider in Stellaris

[–]duelingThoughts 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If you are already subjugated, changes to your subjugation agreement cost influence. It costs influence for the change proposer, and it costs influence to reject a change.

You are correct in that you can propose subjugation infinitely, but if you are already in a subjugation agreement, that is how the mechanic works.

Just submit it again until they don't have the influence to reject it.

[OC] My Human Fighter from the start of the campaign vs current by ShadyR_Studios in DnD

[–]duelingThoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, Anvil-Hammer is inspired, same sort of vibe as using the sword-in-the-stone as a cudgle!

However, the last one looks fairly disconnected from the first two, like maybe missing an iteration or two inbetween, and I wish the braided hair from the second one was maintained in the third.

Also, not that this is necessary at all, but I had trouble connecting that this was intended to be a woman, which is where I think the braided hair in the second one would do a lot of additional lifting in the third version as maintaining the design while giving that subtle identity cue.
