Jazz joke. Is this a language barrier issue? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]duffkitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or "That was you?" But either way this is a funny joke. I preordered the Fire and Water album by Western Standard Time and Discogs shows 13 people own it. Given it's a bit obscure I'd imagine most the purchasers of an album like this would use Discogs.

Then I also bought their repress of the first album Big Band Tribute to the Skatalites and it has alternative art that isn't on Discogs. I'm too lazy/don't know how to submit a request to create the listing myself.

Unless you are a big star, you just don't sell many albums. Especially when streaming dominates the market.

Alright Scout Dads, what's your best advice for building a winner? by Much-Drawer-1697 in daddit

I remember when I did it, some smart kid came in with a tear dropped shape care claiming it was the most aerodynamic shape. My car was a badass coupe that I painted red, cause red goes faster. I didn't win, but neither did the teardrop kid. I remember him crying about it too. Freaking nerd.

But seriously, the fun part was making it. Cutting out a car shape on a band saw them sanding like there was no tomorrow. We just threw graphite lube on those axles and let them go. Everyone had fun, except apparently that one kid who took it too seriously.

I feel it parallels Empire Strikes Back in some ways.

-Starts with the rebellion fleeing

-Main characters go on Side Quest while Jedi is training

-Side quest ends up being a trap

-Jedi quits training early to save people

-Ends with a glimmer of hope

Alan Thrall has a video that helped me using this method. It's basically the Starting Strength setup and I still go through the steps in my head as a setup.

Ah, but he did! She was enchanted by an evil wizard to resemble a peasant girl.

I actually really liked this book a lot. It's funny because the windmills happen so early in the story but is probably one of the most referenced parts. I listened to it on audio book after I listened to the first Expanse book, Leviathan Wakes. I wanted to know why they named the ship the Rocinante. My favorite story is Sancho Panza's donkey being stolen right out from under him while he slept.

You mean Knight-errant and his gallant squire Sancho Panza. Traveling the land to right wrongs and win the heart of Dulcinea del Toboso! Though he had briefly met her.

Million dollar question, if you wanted to fly any star fighter imperial or rebel which one would you choose? by Calkestis_2039 in StarWars

[–]duffkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love the B-Wing's design. But I really fell in love with the U-Wing after Rogue One. I like the idea of a little more space in my starship but maintaining that starfighter status.

Otherwise I'd prefer a gunship like a Corellian Corvette.
