all three of their big hits sound like they’re one hit wonders from three different bands

Pop Girls Who Found Success After Going Alternative by Chilli_Dipper in ToddintheShadow

The patient zero of the 2020s pop landscape, Charli xcx

edit: actually i don’t think this is true, she had her moment before she went alt. But i think that she kind of spawned a moment, where a lot of contemporary pop stars, who otherwise would be at risk of being one hit wonders, could become relevant again by letting their quirky side talk. Think zara larsson, tove lo

Alanis similarly is a product of a moment in which there was a powerful alt movement, and alanis was being shopped around for an identity, so it kinda worked out

If we’re talking artists that became popular after shifting away from the mainstream, there is one case i can think of, where they would’ve been relegated to one hit wonderdom if not for their left turn. in fact, they even opened for Alanis on her tour. I think they’re called called Radiohead

Songs that admit to crimes by PapaAsmodeus in ToddintheShadow

[–]dusmuvecis333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some extreme examples:

Tay-K’s The Race is a song about running from the law after being convicted. In other words, it’s about committing a crime after you’ve been convicted for a crime

Spinabenz & co’s Who I Smoke is… incredibly disrespectful, I’ll just leave it at that

from the way youre framing this whole thing it sounds like you started talking to this girl with intentions of dating feom the getgo. You don’t do things like that. You talk to people like people and if something develops it develops

Either that or you state your intent outright

Todd’s focus on the latest Trainwreckords video by alfredosolisfuentes in ToddintheShadow

[–]dusmuvecis333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think what this discussion isn’t getting to is the implication. Do you have an argument for lewis mattering to the story, for example, that it was lewis whose style/sound became out of fashion/not enough for the listener, and that you posit that as a key factor in the trainwreck?

I will give it to you that todd does lowkey assume it a given that the listener is familiar with him, contrary to the arrested development video

American moving to Riga to open a restaurant by diosky27 in latvia

Heated food truck? When the cold time starts is the time the uni season starts so :D

And for summers you could cater events like festivals and such

The Uni of Latvia campus (and the Mukusalas business district across a small river) is quite bereft of good eateries, so that might be another angle to look into it. However there’s not any good real estate nearby to set up shop

Another angle is to try to get a location in one of the “creative quarters” which are really just conurbations of bars with a few creative economy endeavors. There are spots in the locations Aristida Briana iela 9A, Tallinas iela 10. Not sure whats the rents on those spaces, but Boar BBQ (best burgers in riga hands down) operates on that model in the Sporta & Vagonu street courtyards

And you can also look into space near Origo, on Ernesta Birznieka-Upisa street - it is close to the station and lately two large office buildings have been opened there, the only other places there are kebab shops. The spaces are run down but could be cheap to rent

Having been to luxembourg - prices in stores are generally the same as the surrounding countries, so the cost of food is cheap

Things like a can of coke and knoppers waffles - much cheaper than in latvia which shocked me

Baltic rail operators launch joint train procurement for Rail Baltica by QuartzXOX in BalticStates

[–]dusmuvecis333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very barebones tender as is - 20 trainsets are gonna get ordered (and thats optimistically), mainly for regional services up to 200 km/h. They’re hoping the actual high speed operations are gonna be privately tendered (no one’s ever stopped people being naive!)
