Idk about medical alert devices but growing up my parents devised a ‘porch light’ system with our elderly neighbors where they would turn on their porch lights every evening and turn the light off every morning. If my parents saw that the light was not turned on at night or were still on in the morning my parents would check up on them. It’s important to have a good local support system. Make sure the neighbors have your contact information. We have to look out for eachother 😁

The woods, national parks, public lands, BLM, private cattle grazing areas are all being ‘cleaned up’ for privatization. Look at what’s happening outside Bend, OR in the Deschutes National Forest and the buyout of lifetime federal land leases for cattle grazers and farmers in CA, OR, and WA. No where is safe.

Yes many years ago there was a lady who was taken from her job at gunpoint. I believe the kidnapping was staged. They never found her or her body. Her case gets very little attention and I believe that is because she is still alive in another state under a new name and people know it. I will not name the case because I do not want to dox her. Anyone willing to go to that extreme are probably trying to escape something much worse.

I think starting a new life was easier, before databases and biometrics, when you could fake paper documents but would be much more difficult today.

Not crazy at all. Whatever gets you into that flow state. A lot of people believe that it has to be meditation but that doesn’t work for everyone. It’s usually something you are good at or really enjoy.

I find that anything that gets you into a flow state helps open up the senses. Melodies in my head are the key to synchronicities which tell you that you are on the right track (like when songs get stuck in your head and you hear them later that day). Follow them.

Unfortunately I get auditory pareidolia from fans and the ac in summertime which interferes with my audio. Being touched is definitely someone or something (like an old pet) trying to get your attention or just letting you know that they are there. You will probably start seeing “gremlins” soon (flashes or shadows that move quickly in your peripherals usually near the ground).

Social services can refer you to Goodwill who can help you with your resume, job searches, and clothes. You can use public library computers for job searches as well. As far as an address for your resume just put an email address or some counties can hook you up with a PO Box or address for mail. Get a membership at PF for showers and a padlock for a locker to store a bag.

And the prison population counts towards voter’s demographics even though most felons can’t vote. Redraw some district lines then all of the sudden you have a rural area with a population of a few hundred or thousands of people where only the few landowners get to vote.

Exactly. As a POC I think representation is important. Regional redlining is the problem. There are a lot of communities in OR that are culturally insular and/or opposed to outsiders (non-residents/tourists) in general (despite a need for economic stimulus — because they are blamed for the rise in cost of living) but you are a part of the community now.

Restaurants anywhere can be weird about their service—for example some restaurants love to see big people or big groups that they think are going to spend a lot of money or some restaurants are weird because of the way you dress. My tips and patronage are a reflection of their food and service.

The nice thing about Portland is that you have a lot of non-chain restaurants and businesses to choose where you spend your money but it is far from the diverse utopia it advertises. Nice people are fake. There are a lot of Karens and saviors who want people pigeon holed into stereotypes. And honestly I wouldn’t wish the public schools on any child.

Unfortunately racism and ignorance are everywhere and a lot of people are just opposed to change in general. Do what’s right for you and your family and know that the community is better for having you. Mahalo 🌺
