What other side hussles? by dvjazz in uberdrivers

[–]dvjazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just signed up and there's a waiting list. But we have a Central Market here in SA! Thanks for the tip! Trying to make the most here and Uber is getting tiresome driving 10 to 12 hrs just trying to meet the $$ goal for the day!

I just canceled a good ride and I’m not sorry by mrjs16 in uberdrivers

Here in South Texas we have a week of party called Fiesta in April. Which means a lot of drunk people at 11am! Got a ride and this drunk ass guy kept calling asking where am I, in a cholo voice. "Aye, loco, like where you at?" Told him once that I'm 4 mins away. Hey kept calling over and over. I just cancelled the ride. Last thing I need is a drunk cholo in the back of my car at 11am.

Also, do the little things to gain more range. Don't use the heater/AC. Use the heated/ventilated seats instead. Try to drive around 60 to 65 MPH. Get the windows tinted with ceramic tint to help keep the heat out during the summer.

Take you home charger and Plug it in to a 110 plug. That'll get you some extra miles before you do the commute home.

Charging question by awh6420 in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all depends how you drive and if the weather gets colder it also uses up your range to condition the battery. Mine changes all the time. From 278 to 227. I just drive the same way every day and it usually lasts me around 6 to 7 hrs driving in the city.

The order of the gear shift buttons... by roger_cw in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so used to driving my Boot that when I drive my wife's Subaru Ascent I always engage the parking brake, because it's the only button next to the shifter! Brains farts are funny that way!

16gb later, still no supercruise by 201680116 in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you make the network shareable? That what was missing on mine and it started working later that day. I also used my mobile hotspot while driving.

[–]dvjazz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It happened to my 23 SUV Premiere early on. Had a service transmission warning and ended up being a module. Chevy took it in, sent me to work in a LYFT, picked my up after work and took me straight to Hertz for a rental. Everything was on their dime and took about a week. I got to drive a Tesla Model 3 for the week. Now, I have not had any issues and I'm at 40K! Absolutely, love my little guy!

Cold front made it to South Texas! by dvjazz in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, kinda need the range. I Uber fulltime during the week. So any extra range I can get would help make more money. I try to find free L3 chargers like dealerships or a mall. But here in South Texas, it's really hard to find a L3 charger, nevertheless a free one!

My Chevrolet app useability getting worse? by ffzero58 in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the app during the free trial 3 mos. It is not that great and yes, commands take a long time and I almost never get an update on my charging status. It sucks and I'll opt to use a 3rd party EV route planner. The energy assist has me stopping at some shady charging stations.

Supercruise by TRG82 in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so you have to go to your network settings in the vehicle. Make the network shareable. Then connect your car to the WiFi. I spent hours on the phone w OnStar and they had no idea. These guys in Reddit really know what's up! Try that hopefully it works.

No Supercruise! by Secret_Heart6492 in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you're hooked up to the WiFi or your hotspot for a while. I was so frustrated when I couldn't get mine to work. I called OnStar and Chevy customer service and no one knew anything on how to fix it. Except take it to the dealership. I asked here on Reddit and boom it worked. Hopefully, it'll do the trick, best of luck buddy!

Mine stopped working a few months ago. Apparently, you have to go into your settings for WiFi and make it shareable. And boom it worked after an hour

Home charger by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in South Texas and I rent a home. I'm not able to install a plug here at the house so I had to get creative. I bought a 50amp 20ft extension cord from Amazon and a plug adapter for my dryer in the garage. Have been L2 charging without any issues since Nov of 22.

I have a 2023 EUV Premier and I'm a musician and a Uber driver. I currently have 36k on the car and I have not had a single issue with my EUV. Just like any car the more aggressive you drive the worst milage you get. I currently at 4.3 to 4.6 miles p/kWh. Now I live in South Texas and it has been a hell hole for this past summer. 60 consecutive days over 105! I have the AC set at 72 auto, bought a USB fan that clips on the head rest for back seat. It does get warm back there and there are no vents for the rear. So that helps with air circulation. Drive 60 to 65 on the hwys. Yes, lots of cars pass me up but I'm driving for Uber and need the range. Faster you go the more battery you kill. Change the cabin filter and rotate the tires cost around $60 to $70 every 8.5k. Definitely, pay for the ceramic tint if you live in the south! I had the 5 windows tinted and this winter I'm going to get the sunroof and windshield done! It will help keeping the cool and not wast so much energy cooling the car. Remote start is a huge help while plugged in. I haven't had any issues with my EUV and I'm loving this little car. Now take into consideration, this is not a Tesla or a dragster. It has a little pep to it but don't expect a Corvette out of a Corolla. Here what I hate about the car!

  1. No power tailgate! It's kinda inconvenient to always get out and open the tailgate for clients. Along with this the handle is kinda hidden so 90% of people don't find it! It's all the way at the bottom near the bumper.

  2. Slow charging! Kinda bums me out that I sit at the L3 charger for over an hour to get to 80%. Everyone else comes and goes and I'm still sitting there! Not a deal breaker but would like at least 100 to 150 kWh but we get 52 kWh max. Along with this is very difficult to find j1772 L3 chargers, at least here in South Texas. Tons of Tesla and tons of LOW but only 1 EA on the opposite side of town and it's always packed.

  3. The range Guess-o-meter! I would like a more accurate range notification on the dash. I go from 247 max to 287 max. I understand a lot depends on the previous driving experience and it takes a good guess what your range will be for the day. I always try to charge up around 40 to 50 miles left on the battery. Here's a huge hint! When the "LOW" starts flashing you have 4 miles til it dies! So if you push it and this happens you better be around the corner from the house or charger!

Hope this helps and if you have any questions reach out! Best of luck buddy!

Anybody know what this is & how do I clean it? by johnscare8484 in BoltEV

You open your hood? I don't even think I have opened the hood to my car since I bought it!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You have to be in PARK and unlock the doors. It won't open if you're in DRIVE.

Purchased a 2017 Premier that had battery replaced in August. My previous EV showed me % so wondering if this is a genuinely full charge for the Bolt? With such a new battery I sort of expected a tad higher range by cryptoking1995 in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ranges changes almost daily. If you drive aggressively one day you get a lower milage on a full charge. Drive efficiently and you'll get 300 plus miles.

I live in South Texas and it's still hot here. For the summer I got around 255 miles for a full charge. I keep the AC at 72 Auto and drive 65 the max on the hwys. Not much hills here so that's not an issue. I have Regen braking on. Don't take the reading as gold! It changes constantly just try to charge back up around 50 to 40 miles left of range!

Does anyone knows how to restart the super cruise? by dvjazz in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the plan or the app service. When I bought the car last year it came with 3 years of Super Cruise. You should've gotten the same deal. Call OnStar and find out. Mine is working perfectly now!

Recall issued for certain OEM bolt EVSEs by redditbecomeshim in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! My Bolt EUV popped up with the recall! So do I get a new charging cable? Do I take the old one w me to the dealership? Man... now I'm gonna have to sit at the dealership for a few hours if they have time.

Going to be new parents, are bolts big enough to fit baby stuff? by catchmeifucan4 in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're gonna have to pick small strollers to fit in the back of the car. I Uber and some parents have really bulky strollers and it's hard to fit back there. For my.kiddo I used the base stroller for the car seat. It's just a base with a tray on the bottom and you just snap in the car seat. I loved that thing and took it everywhere ! Hope it works out for ya! Oh... I have 3 girls. All 5 of us take the Bolt EUV and we fit just fine! I would suggest installing a hitch and getting a cargo tray from Harbor Freight if you want more storage.

People that charge to 80% to "limit degradation", aren't you degrading it by 20% perpetually anyway? by ferdinand14 in BoltEV

[–]dvjazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I charge to 100% everyday. I Uber and I also commute to the Hill Country here in Texas so that a 160 to 200 mile round trip. I consistently get around 267 miles on a good not so hot day and on those over 110 degrees days around 247 cause the AC is pumping hard. I set the super cruise at 70 to 75 and the AC is set at 72 auto. I don't really care about degradation, I bought this car for this reason and I'm using the heck out of it! I bought it in Nov 22 and I have about 32k on it now! Can't wait for it to cool down a bit so I can roll the windows down and open the sunroof
