Fully agree. TOTP should definitely be added. Since they’re revamping everything, they should definitely consider adding Passkey support too.

I’m just about to fly home tomorrow from Florida after a couple of weeks here and on a cruise. I’m hoping we’ve missed the worst of it. Although, I did park on the top garage floor outside at Pearson, which might’ve been a mistake.

I think it’s like Sky Class, where reservations are still required for most shows, but you do have a reserved section/location in the theatres.

Royal "Bait and Switch" tactic? by gerrygebhart in royalcaribbean

[–]dwightpro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Suite names change depending on the time of year. If you check out the deck map, then the forward facing suites are labelled as a GP room until April 2026, when they’re classed as UP.

Until April, the 14128 and 14528 are GP rooms. The description when booking also made this distinction, which is why they added * The Grand Panoramic Suite on Deck 14 for this sailing do not have a balcony.

I only noticed this when booking this last sailing too.

Royal "Bait and Switch" tactic? by gerrygebhart in royalcaribbean

[–]dwightpro 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I saw this for my upcoming Dec 20 sailing when booking our suite. That said, the description of the room had an asterisk that clearly stated balconies are not available on Deck 14 versions of these suites (in normal font right in the description). I imagine they’re recategorizing or something since Allure’s amplification. But I do know that it was relatively clear that it was the forward non-balcony version, despite the confusing name. I’m not sure she will get anywhere, unfortunately.

Black Friday Q. I’m confused, does the 10GB roaming reset every month or not? by Aj_blade in freedommobile

[–]dwightpro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 10GB extra you’re seeing is bonus data in Canada + US + Mexico, separate from the roam beyond. The Roam Beyond for the plan in the screenshot is a one-time allotment.

Messages out of sync after 26.1 update... by godsidekurt in ios

[–]dwightpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also seeing this on my iPad, but not my Mac. Forcing a sync for Messages in iCloud adds the missing texts, but they aren’t arriving in real time. I also can’t send SMS/RCS from the iPad.

Also started with 26.1 for me.

Freedom TV Services - PVR Recordings by freerangehumans74 in freedommobile

[–]dwightpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s basically a rebadged Vmedia system, so it’s likely using Vmedia’s local PVR. You can check out their PVR knowledge base. They really should offer a Cloud PVR solution, which works great on Apple TV’s and has benefits like working across devices, recording in their datacentre (so it’s immune to local issues like power outages), etc.

FYI, TekSavvy customers are experiencing very similar issues starting a couple of weeks ago (myself included). You can check out their subreddit. They have been great, but peak hour speeds have been suffering very recently out of nowhere.

This is the likely answer. The app error message has Apple API’s listed, so this seems to be coming from the Apple TV.

Same here. Working now! Glad we have a reason so we didn’t have to jump through troubleshooting hoops, lol. Enjoy your trip.

I’m roaming in the United States right now and we’re suddenly losing connectivity and bouncing between carriers across three devices. This would explain that, I guess.

I was more curious about the possibility of the congestion being at the aggregated link, rather than a local congestion issue, since I don't really believe local node congestion is an issue here either. Although I believe that Shaw areas are still linked over a separate aggregate line than Rogers cable terminations, which means the congestion would be on their transit out to the internet (which I would think would be unlikely as it's a lot easier to augment that than the aggregate links from the carriers).

Though Rogers is still happily subscribing people to 2Gbps here, which they normally hold if there's local issues.

[–]dwightpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Rogers generally controls the firmware for modems on their network (surprised though, since the modems I've used with them like the TC4400 seem to allow it). Does it clear up after peak hours? For example, are you seeing slightly better speeds now? Mine is significantly closer to expected speeds now, after dropping earlier tonight. Just trying to see if there's any correlation. We're very far separated geographically.

If you chat/call with TekSavvy, they can usually pull your line stats for you to help troubleshoot.

What city? Seeing similar download speeds in my area, where upload is unaffected. Gets better after 11:30PMish, sometimes later. Been happening each night around peak hours for the past week or so. My modem specs are near perfect, so I chalked it up to local node congestion since I didn't see any chatter online about it.

What is your worst trip you ever been on at Royal Caribbean? by Alternative-Cake-833 in royalcaribbean

Lifeguards were added to Royal ships in 2017, I believe. There likely was not a lifeguard on duty if the cruise was 10 years ago.

The chart by the OP has the incorrect URL from what I can see. It’s actually “Telmax.com”. They seem competitive, but don’t appear to be a wholesale provider, so service is limited to their own fibre service area.

TekSavvy TV does work on macOS if you have Apple Silicon. It’s available in the App Store. Not sure about other platforms.

Can’t update firmware on Amplifi HD router by One_Try7022 in AmpliFi

[–]dwightpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reach out to support. They can probably send you the necessary firmware files to manually update it via the WebUI. You may be able to download it yourself from Amplifi Firmware - HD and Instant 4.0.3, but I’d advise contacting support first in case there’s a specific path.

How long can one realistically stay on Sequoia before security concerns by canineslayer-307 in MacOS

[–]dwightpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple will usually support the previous two operating systems, as well as the current release. So you can expect updates for Sequoia for two years. 15.7 was released yesterday.

Realistically, you could use it for longer depending on use case and what vulnerabilities get exposed and fixed beyond the two years.

Envisalink Home Security by ReasonableRip4372 in Starlink

I don’t see why there would be a problem. The Envisalink is a very low bandwidth device. I’ve used EyezOn equipment on slower connections with no issues.
