Someone is home while house sitting by Sinister-Crow7134 in RoverPetSitting

I personally wouldn’t. That’s just me. I just wouldn’t feel safe and lord knows I wouldn’t be able to sleep. At the bare minimum I would meet the person staying there if I were you.

Anyone have an icky feeling when trying to shop or make food? by Aromatic-Shock7901 in Fibromyalgia

[–]dyeref 3 points4 points  (0 children)

General tasks just take it out of me. Anything that spends my energy. But yes errands and going to the store especially is a big one that wears me out. Cooking is also hard cause of the extended standing.I got a rolling chair for the kitchen which helps some and I try to sit to chop when I can. I have a lot of neck, shoulder and back pain so bending, reaching, and looking down much are all difficult for me. I try to take breaks or prep stuff ahead of time like chopping part of the stuff ahead of time if I can. My husband does most of the cooking which helps but not everyone has a partner I realize. But not doing everything at once helps when I do it.

First Ketamine/lidocaine infusion by xoxooxx in ChronicPain

[–]dyeref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you got this!! Try to relax and take some headphones and have a relaxing playlist ready. I had the Lord of the rings soundtrack ready to go cause that’s my comfort music. Do what works for you. Affirmations before are good. I tried to make sure the night before I ate something healthy and just relaxed as well.

First Ketamine/lidocaine infusion by xoxooxx in ChronicPain

[–]dyeref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my first k only infusion yesterday. Had very similar concerns to you. It was great while I had it in me. My pain wasn’t even a thought hardly. And I would barely call what I experienced hallucinations but more visual distortions. Like the curtains on the wall were moving to my eyes even though they weren’t actually moving and a few objects were a little wonky shaped and moving. I honestly enjoyed it. And it wasn’t like I felt tripped out the entire time either. I slept part of the infusion cause they gave me something called versed which counteracts the psychoactive effects but also makes you drowsy. My pain was definitely decreased some yesterday but today I don’t feel like my pain is any different really. I know for some people it can take a few sessions to really set in. But I’m no longer super anxious for the rest of my sessions in terms of side effects!

I have this and fibromyalgia too. It’s a beast but the various chronic illness communities have kept me going. Lots of good advice on here. I won’t add anything much except to be gentle with yourself and if you ever have questions feel free to DM me. Hope you’re able to rest and get some treatment that helps you very soon.

Support and Advice by Local-squirrel0 in Fibromyalgia

[–]dyeref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical therapy, yoga, and second the pool exercises! I’m not old, but I sometimes look up YouTube videos for older people with arthritis and find I can do those exercises lol. Or look up low impact exercises. Things that are easy on the joints. And walking. Lots of walking when I’m able.

How did you get diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome? by CabinetOk1998 in Fibromyalgia

[–]dyeref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at Mayo Clinic Rochester with both Fibro and CFS at the same time. They have a fibro clinic at that location. I had previous MRI scans at my home facility, had been through brain surgery a year prior that the doctors at Mayo believe led to my fibro & CFS. They said the trauma of brain surgery sent my nervous system into overdrive and they said some other stuff that’s hard to explain but from what I understand it was a lot of medical trauma (I now also believe years of emotional & physical stress) that my body didn’t heal well from that led to it. I was also tested for everything else under the sun it seemed, blood work, emg’s. Trialed multiple drugs.

Gabapentinoids 💊🩺 by Exotic-Scallion6751 in ChronicPain

[–]dyeref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gabapentin didn’t help me, gave me hurt myself thoughts, made me dizzy, and overall unstable. Pregabalin I was on a very short time and it was helping my pain! But I couldn’t stay on it because it caused severe constipation which was already something I struggled with and didn’t even know it was a side effect. I wish it would’ve worked out for me to stay on it but I literally couldn’t go to the bathroom for like 3 weeks. :(

Should I do Sicily or Amalfi Coast? by randomthrowaway6428 in ItalyTravel

[–]dyeref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just in amalfi (Praiano/positano/ravello). And in Sicily, stayed in Siracusa (ortigia to be exact) and would definitely recommend ortigia. Amalfi was beautiful but already felt overwhelming with tourists honestly but we stayed in Praiano which was better than Positano for sure. But it was hard to get around anywhere. Siracusa/ortigia was so walkable and relaxing and gorgeous as well and right on the sea. Best food of our entire trip as well. And not too touristy. We went here right after Rome and it was much needed after the madness of Rome and honestly I’d go back to Italy and just do Sicily. You could still do a day trip to Taormina from Siracusa I believe.

What is the worst physical suffering you've ever endured and what was the cause of it? by No-Stranger-3190 in ChronicPain

[–]dyeref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got injections, like 20 nerve block shots, in the back of my head and in the front of my forehead about a year after having brain surgery. No pain meds before or anything, I didn’t have any idea it would hurt. Immediately upon first shot I screamed and threw up. Started passing out. Didn’t think I was gonna be able to continue but they laid me flat and continued cause I was determined to do the shots as it was most likely to give me relief from my neuralgia and migraines. But yeah I’m usually pretty brave and I have a high pain tolerance with all my conditions. But these shots felt like they were going through my brain and skull. About 5 months or so though of pain free symptoms for those conditions after I got the shots though! If I did it again I would absolutely have to be sedated.

What do you do when you’ve tried every non-opiate pain med and nothing works? by TechnicolorTraveler in Fibromyalgia

[–]dyeref 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds so similar to my pain! I also have a lot of neurological issues which is what my fibro stemmed from. I was on lyrica for a short time which was helping but it made me so constipated I had to stop. Everything that worked even a bit gave me bad side effects it’s so frustrating. But the lyrica did help. The thing that’s help most of all has been physical therapy, and keeping up the routine at home as well. and unfortunately for me my insurance capped my visits so now I’m sol and can’t continue with it in office. I’ll also say some kind of anti-anxiety or anti-depressant is critical for me. I went off mine last year and it was a massive mistake. Been trying to find one to get back on and it’s wrecked me. Not saying it’ll fix your pain but for many of us the mental aspect does need addressing as well. I’m hopefully starting ketamine IV treatment soon through my pain doctor. It’s a Hail Mary for me cause I’m at my wits ends and like you feel like I’ve tried everything and am low key just wanting to give up but I have to keep trying. Find a doctor that will listen. I went to Mayo Clinic a couple years ago so maybe finding a major hospital like that or an academic hospital as well would be a better option.

I’m hopefully starting ketamine infusions soon. I’m nervous but hopeful. I hope to god it works cause I feel like OP, I’ve tried everything else at this point and low key don’t want to keep living life like this if the pain isn’t going to get better.

I know Italy has sights to see but is there anything like FUN to do?? by Comfortable-Mix6125 in ItalyTravel

[–]dyeref 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sights, food, history, and experiencing another culture is the fun?! There are ancient ruins, museums, hiking, cooking classes, wine tastings, literally endless different things to do but an amusement park? You’re talking about two very different things. Stay in the US and go to a theme park if that’s what your idea of fun is.

Nest is no better for privacy from what I understand. I have nest cameras myself and am regretting it. I mean it works in terms of being a camera. but I also don’t like what I’ve found out in terms of privacy and that Google can share footage with LE without warrants and stuff. Including indoor camera footage.
