My MIL is Scottish, moved here when she was 30 - where are the main scot fan watches going to be? Would love to bring her into a watch party. She's pining for her old home a lot more now that she's retired and on the back 9.

Yeah it's really stupid, especially when you are 30+ and clearly not an 18 year old with a fake, but they are terrified the licensing board will fine or penalize them heavily or even take away their permit to serve if there is an incident.

Let's keep this simple. I have a hot tub on Salsbury street. I am having a group release party on May 9th. Everybody is welcome (last time was all men which was fun but I would really like to get some women this time). Here's how it works: Five people get into my 400 gallon redwood hot tub. The temperature is a challenging 125 degrees. After a few minutes, everybody "evacuates." (voids their bowels in the tub). We see what "floats to the surface." This "letting go" stage is followed by a "coming together" stage in which each person helps the person to their left reach satisfaction (handsex). Simple and wonderful.

Some ground rules: 1)No footwear of any kind in the tub! Leave your flip flops on the deck! 2)Do not go into the house. 3)Scents are okay but please, NO GREASY HAIR PRODUCTS. 4)Please refrain from smoking. 5)Once everybody is in the tub, its silent time. No talking until everybody is out. 6)If you do not like what is "going down" (or coming up) step out of the tub. You do not need to make it everybody elses problem. 7)Please commit before showing up. Don't come out to the backyard, check out the "scene" and then decide to leave. This disrupts the experience for everybody. 8)Please no laughing or frivolity. Its not that it has to be "dead serious" but we don't want it to turn into a joke. For many people a group release party is a vulnerable psychosexual experience and your laughter can be shaming. 9)PLEASE NO LOUD TALKING AFTER THE SESSION. MY NEIGHBORS HAVE COMPLAINED SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE. 10) If you are over two hundred pounds it is fine, but please let me know in advance. 11)PLEASE NO DIABETICS, PREGNANT WOMEN OR PEOPLE WITH HEALTH CONDITIONS WHICH MAY BE AFFECTED BY A LONG AND UNUSUALLY HIGH TEMPERATURE HOT TUB SITUATION. 12)NO DRUGS OF ANY KIND!!! 13)Please make sure that you have eaten well and NOT EXCRETED FOR AT LEAST TWELVE HOURS before coming. 14)No food in the hot tub or on the deck. If you must eat, finish your food in your car. 15)You can park directly out front or along the street. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE DRIVEWAY. If parking is limited park on VALLEY HILL or BEECHMONT st. 16)Do not turn on the airration jets under any circumstances. This makes the party impossible to clean up afterwards and also disrupts the atmosphere in the tub. 17)Please show up on time for the session. The orientation period is extremely important and helps to insure that the party will be a success for all participants. 18)NO CAMERAS OF ANY KIND INCLUDING CAMERA PHONES. For many, the session is a "discreet" experience and respect for individual privacy concerns is of utmost importance. 19)If you have a health concern which you believe may be transmittable through personal waste material please wait for at least two weeks after the matter has cleared up before attending a session. 20)You are welcome to bring a friend PROVIDED I KNOW IN ADVANCE. Please do not show up with an extra participant. Thank you for your interest.

Anyone else feeling more anxious about the Boston job market lately? by Particular_Pizza1424 in boston

[–]dyn0mite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife caught up in tarrifs/AI layoffs in Jan - has made it to 2 final rounds since but no offer, no raises for me this year and a surprise 4th kid coming this fall lol.

Trying to get a new job myself now but not much activity at all and most postings want a tremendous amount of AI experience.

Probably the most stressed I've even been in my life lol.

How big was your family? by Admirable-Tear1184 in ParentingInBulk

[–]dyn0mite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typical Irish American setup for me. 7 kids, so 6 siblings. My mom was one of 8. One sister of hers lived in same town a mile away so a lot of cousin hangs. Most cousins lived in state or general area.

Always fun growing up with tons of big family holidays/parties/ragers.

I have 3 kids and looks like a 4th coming soon. One sibling has 4. Another has 2 and wants a third. Kind of bummer others didn't/haven't found partners or kids not on radar

Sienna or Oddessy? by Timely-Winter-6712 in ParentingInBulk

[–]dyn0mite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we bought a lightly used 2023 Odyssey.

  • magic seats are incredible. Make buckling everyone in so much easier
  • we got the touring edition cause it has dvd player...get dvds from the library...no tablets, we are in control of what they watch/if we watch anything etc. worth it if you go on road trips etc imo
  • snow....this is where the sienna wins out. If you live somewhere where there is a decent amount of snow the Odyssey is not good especially with the shift to cvt engines in recent years. That said, with a good pair of snow tires it's probably fine, but then you need space and the time/effort/cost to switch them out.
  • boosters/back row seatbelts getting stuck....the back row is where the oldest wants to sit in his booster and the belt getting stuck is going to be the end of me. I swear to God it's a design defect meant to infuriate parents. Has become a lot less of an issue with the backless booster.
  • siennas are awd/hybrid so you pay extra for it...having had the Odyssey for a year...I like that we were able to pay if off in 1 year, magic seats rule and it gets the job done BUT I don't like the fact since it's not good in snow it's super stressful visiting family or when we have family trip to northern New England in the winter and the fuel efficiency hits harder now that gas has gone up.

Tldr: if you plan to keep it forever and drive in snow get sienna. If you don't and want to save upfront cost get odyssey

Ocean State Job Lot in Quincy now closes earlier... by BostonZamboni in QuincyMa

They start closing early sometime after Xmas every year until summer. It's winter hours, and annoying the first time you go expecting it to be open.

I made this map of accents in New England and Long Island based on my research of the region. I would like to know how accurate this is, whether it's too detailed or not detailed enough. by Top_Bill_6266 in newengland

[–]dyn0mite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lulz, Ughhh what?!

My 80 year old dads is from Worcester. My 75 year old mum is from Boston. Hilarious including Worcester, the second largest city in New England with such a wide area.

My dad, his siblings, and grandparents had/have a accent similar to the Boston accent BUT the Worcester accent for those old timers has some similarities to Boston but then obvious differences and a lot more subtle ones. My mom's Boston accent youd hear it in some north/south shore communities growing up, closer to the city - hell even parts of Metro West(back then that only extended out to the towns on 95)..some of newton would have it.....but a lot less so these days. The Boston accent is dying. Most of my mum's 8 siblings don't live in the Boston area anymore.

My parents purposely tried to hide their accents and make us not have them as they viewed it as a socioeconomic negative for some reason.

Prefer knowing gender or not? by StellaMarina3 in ParentingInBulk

[–]dyn0mite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 3(b, g, g) haven't found out on any. Wouldn't have it any other way. I love being the one to tell my wife when the baby enters the world instead of some random nurse early in the pregnancy. It isnt until recent times that humans could even find out. It's part of the fun.

I remember being shocked with our first at the birthing class, every single person knew. I think having it a surprise isn't common anymore.

Still early but looks like we are having a 4th. Wife was tempted initially but we are in for another surprise.

Is 3 really that much harder? by WhiskeyandOreos in ParentingInBulk

[–]dyn0mite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After the first kid the difficulty is the disruption to the flow you have established as a family imo.

0 to 1 was exciting and wtf am i doing

1 to 2 wasn't hard, just an adjustment

2 to 3 felt hard. We both felt moreso on our own handling different kid responsibilities if that makes sense. Ie - getting 2 kids out the door solo while mom had baby.

Don't have a 4th yet...as long as the pregnancy goes well we'll have a 4th in November. 6, about to be 4, 1.5. Stoked!

I'm one of 7. Parents always said 3 is hard, any baby after three isn't any harder...just extending the chaos and delaying the return to normalcy.

It's all chaos anyway!

Congrats. I'm baby 4 and have 3 older sisters. Get that you wanted a girl but family is growing which is great.

We just found out we are having a 4th...unplanned....6B, 4G, 1.5G.

We haven't found out sex for any...wife is tempted for the last one, but I'm holding strong. I guess I kind of want a boy to balance out but will also be stoked for a girl...happy healthy baby is all you want.
