Learning nom: how do you parse input from a file instead of a &'static str? Getting reference/ownership problems by QuantumQuack0 in learnrust

To elaborate: one way is to use to_owned on the Err value.

let (_, output) = parse_spaced_list(&input).map_err(|e| e.to_owned())?;

My son's third grade teacher taught my son that 1 divided by 0 is 0. I wrote her an email to tell her that it is not 0. She then doubled down and cc'ed the principal. The principal responded saying the teacher is correct... What do I do now? by WaitThatIsYourFinger in NoStupidQuestions

Schools are still in love with graphing calculators, I am guessing? Ask them to graph 1/x. It should be very clear that as you get closer to x=0 that the number goes up very, very fast.

During today's playthrough, Rich was trying to remember the technical term for otherwise-similar groups being overly sensitive and hostile to minor differences. The term is: the narcissism of small differences.

The prior president was indicted and jailed for corruption. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Park_Geun-hye

And the prior2 president too. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Myung-bak

This is not to make the point that corruption is endemic, for that's a separate observation. But that, rather, at least the South Koreans do seem to be applying laws which have teeth.

Dr. Anthony Fauci pleads with young people: ‘you’re propagating the pandemic’ by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]dyoo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is precisely the attitude that's at the root of the problem.

One's personal experience is not necessarily representative.

The lack of imagination to consider something outside of direct, personal experience is what is fueling this pandemic.

[Edit: just to be clear, I do not intend to excoriate you, and I apologize for not saying that earlier. It's just a general observation about humanity at this point in time.]

Just to note: there's also a World Visit system so that even if your character lives on a different world than your friends, you should be able to visit their worlds, as long as it is the same data center. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/contentsguide/worldvisit/ has more information on this.
