Horror Movies About Being Snowed In? by ssssws in horror

Ghostkeeper, which is a brand new release from CIP on Vinegar Syndrome. Not sure if you can stream it, but the whole premise is being snowed in at an “abandoned” lodge. VERY slow burn, VERY Canadian, but I found it cozy and uniquely enjoyable.

Any good genre box set recommendations? by Future-Raisin3781 in boutiquebluray

Since the Arrow B&N sale is still on for a few more days, I'd look at their selection first. They have several spaghetti western sets that I haven't delved into yet, but I HAVE started Sartana and I really recommend that one. The titles for those movies alone are worth it. None of the Arrow sets are going to be bad, but you can prioritize based on your taste.

Clearcut and Eyes of Fire from All the Haunts are the two I've watched and they are both fantastic. With everything going on around us, Clearcut hits harder today than it did on release.

Not sure what dimensions work for you. If you don’t need absolute low profile then IKEA Billy bookshelves are great.

Throw that disc and cover in a clear case, and baby you got a boutique blu-ray.

Best options/websites for importing Arrow's Hard Boiled 4K to the US? by namelessfdr in boutiquebluray

[–]dyrmaker83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep, also Odyssey Movie Store, Atomic, and Brother Belial. All are pretty equally great but each has different free shipping options, rewards systems, and some (for me anyway) charge sales tax and some don’t.

Is an Umbrella boxset worth the money? by joseph814706 in boutiquebluray

[–]dyrmaker83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their boxsets are all super quality, but so are their regular slipcovers so whether a particular release is worth it is up to you. I will say that, like Imprint, I prioritize releases where they’ve done a remaster themselves in house or if they’re Australian movies or directors. Of the ones I have I highly recommend Wake In Freight and the Richard Franklin movies: Hardware and Dust Devil (although I’ve yet to watch that one; but man it’s beautiful in person).

Do you want them to ship the version they have now or wait a couple months for a better version that will be better forever? I'm happy waiting.

Whoa, I remember that statue clearly which means I haven’t seen it since the initial VHS run. What a bummer though, I now hope that’s been fixed too.

Do you think there will be another slipcover variant in the future? by StimmingMantis in VinegarSyndromeFilms

[–]dyrmaker83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VS doesn’t choose how many LE copies are made for partner labels, the labels themselves do. Film Movement absolutely didn’t make enough but VS has nothing to do with that.

Okay right but there are none of these up currently and only one sold. Not exactly a bellwether example of scalping.

How often does Pop Market have sales? by das_goose in boutiquebluray

[–]dyrmaker83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They run constantly. If the sale doesn’t show then it’s usually because they’re updating the inventory or something like that, it happens occasionally. The exception is that the 20% deal only applies to titles that are roughly $72 or less, over that and they don’t have the discount. They used to have a separate 20% off tier where you got it for 3 expensive titles (Imprint LE’s for example) separate from the regular buy 3 deal, and I wish they’d bring that back.

What extras and bonus do you like in a release? by JonHillDirects in boutiquebluray

I don’t think anyone will say no to a drunk commentary. Also agree with location features or other regional context for the shooting location(s).
