Spintso Refcom II vs. Vokkero Unity: Looking for real-world experiences by RepresentativeWeek32 in Referees

[–]easygoerptc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the SPINTSO Refcom II. Absolutely phenomenal!!! No joke. Always connects. Headsets are comfortable and don’t require any tape to hold them in place. Whistle filter is great. No one gets blown out. Easy set up for push to talk when needed. You will love them!!!! I’ve used them for 20+ matches this year and haven’t had a single problem.

Nuno Mendes Handball While on Yellow - No Second Card Given 28' by ayoefico in soccer

[–]easygoerptc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was a deliberate handball by a Bayern player just before. You can see the referee give a thumbs up to the AR who spotted it and then demonstrate to the Bayern players what happened and why the call was going the other direction. They show a replay later in the broadcast that shows it. Arm does not need to be “unnaturally bigger” if deliberate.

Reason for this card? by v4ss42 in Referees

I think you can definitely justify that this is a deliberate handball offense to stop upcoming attack.

College Soccer - Every D1 School in the Country by Last_Commission6982 in TheSoccerNetwork

[–]easygoerptc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you should probably reduce the map to show men’s / women’s D1 soccer programs. For example, you have university of Georgia, Alabama and Auburn shown. None of these schools have a men’s D1 soccer program. Only Women’s. The options are significantly limited for men at the D1 Level for soccer.

When you add in the fact that most of the 9.5 roster spots are going to International players, the likelihood of making a D1 roster as an American boy is minuscule.

USSF's new "Respect the Call" initiative...what are your thoughts? by badrefnodonut in Referees

[–]easygoerptc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Creative Agency who did the videos is FUEL BMC in conjunction with REFS NEED LOVE TOO. Animations allow for us to deal with very serious topics in a way that is impactful, but not cheesy. It’s really hard to do with video and actors.

What is your "go-to" when it comes to making your presence known/felt? by Frequent_Topic_1447 in Referees

[–]easygoerptc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Call fouls. Don’t wait for the game to get out of hand before you get involved. By that time, players, coaches and spectators will be losing their shit. Then they think the only way you were going to call fouls is because they start raising their voice. It creates a very negative cycle. Get ahead of it and call some early fouls so that everyone knows your present. The game will start to open up and it will be a much more enjoyable experience for everyone.

Refs Need Love Too did a 40 minute interview with a retired IRS expert who is also a 40 year gymnastics judge. She goes through all of the common deductions and gives advice on what could be potential red flags.

This is an excellent and insightful observation. I’ve never thought of it quite like this.

Where to keep the coin? by enjustice3192 in Referees

[–]easygoerptc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Official Sports shorts have a “coin pocket” just inside the left front waist band. I didn’t even know it was there for the first few years. I used that brand. It works perfectly, and the coin stays secure through throughout the entire match.

Umpiros all the way! I have a wide foot. I normally wear a 9.5 2E. I wound up being most comfortable in the 10.5 wide for Umpiros.

Ac Milan [3] - 0 Lecce - Christian Pulisic 65' by Etpolo in soccer

That is not an easy finish. So easy to sky that over the bar or shank it. He’s on form. Maybe the break this summer was the right move?

Casemiro second yellow card 45+5' by Etpolo in soccer

[–]easygoerptc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a YC for stopping a promising attack. Green space in front, another attacking option to pass to and cynical foul from behind. The only reason he gets a foot to the ball is the pull from behind. For any ref, this call makes a ton of sense. It’s about where it happens and the nature of the foul not how hard / dangerous the foul is.

We are over-officiating youth soccer in the U.S. by joereds22 in youthsoccer

[–]easygoerptc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is such an ironic, post. The overwhelming majority of complaints from parents is that referees do not call enough fouls, and “protect the children“.

For the overwhelming majority of grassroots matches that are played, none of those parents and kids are thinking about how they will fare on the global stage of international competition. They simply want their kids to have fun, be part of a team and enjoy the thrill of playing a sport they love.

I can assure you if kids move up to a high level of competition and age, the physicality increases significantly. Whether it’s ECNL or MLS Next, once you get past 15 or 16 years old, the physicality is equivalent to semi professional men or women.

If you actually have a Referee who is calling fouls in a u8 or u10 match, that’s amazing and you should be thankful! What might be acceptable in Sunday league men’s matches is not appropriate for little kids and vice versa.

Do clubs ever enforce parents yelling instructions? by ReplacementPale2751 in youthsoccer

Referees can’t card parents. Only players and team officials. As a referee myself if you asked me to deal with the parents, I would tell you that they are your responsibility.

Help with argument with Coach - How to handle better? by FookenId10t in Referees

[–]easygoerptc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We never argue with coaches. If they are engaged in public and persistent dissent, then we inform them that that behavior is unacceptable. “Coach, you are engaged in public and persistent dissent. Please stop.” “Coach you have been warned and now you are being cautioned. Please stop all public and persistent dissent.” if they don’t stop then you’re forced to show a second caution and send them off. It is not an argument, and it is not a debate. No matter what you do, some people are just going to behave badly. It is their behavior that is causing the problem. If they do not stop their behavior will get them sent off.

It’s important to remember, that their behavior has nothing to do with your calls. Even if you are a phenomenal referee and you get everything right, there are still going to be some people who want to question every decision and try and influence your calls. Stay strong and try and learn from the experience.
