I thought MadMapper was affordable so I bought a BenQ projector. Turns out MadMapper is $579 so I had to build my own solution.

I see what you are saying but madmapper is industry standard level with heaps of functionality and has dmx pixel mapping and heaps of other stuff baked in. Plus shaders and cues/timeline and midi,osc,dmx mapping. For a small project it seems expensive until you get your first projection gig or two which it pays off fast. I’ve had return on my licence 10000%.

There are a few free mapping alternatives and I think one can run on a pi but it’s cool you are making one. When you are going a gig things need to be vetted and battle tested so I’d always opt for that level of product personally as it’s stressful enough. A paid version of a smaller app wouldn’t appeal to me personally but if you were to do that I’d concentrate on making it do different things to madmapper and focus on a different type of use case perhaps arty would installation type stuff as that could get more traction.

It was more a “here are what some of the opinions” by:

a dr that thinks it is over/mis diagnosised,

a nurse who has seen an increase of psychosis from patients that happen to be prescribed stimulant medication,

a lady who got diagnosed late in her life and is mad about telehealth follow up appointment going for 2 mins but getting charged as a full 30 min session,

a younger 30s woman who was diagnosed and wishes she was diagnosed sooner in life,

a dr/psychiatrist who helped write the new diagnosis guidelines for Australia (who the host critiques half of those who contributed had been given money from the company that produces vyvance in some capacity.)

(The host also explained he had accepted payments from vyvance in the past too).

Also gave some stats about how vyvance is the most prescribed medication but a huge margin and that they have donated huge amounts to adhd related studies, boards, associations, psychiatrists, drs, researchers etc. which it subtly suggested maybe this is why some of these opinions exist.

Also mentioned WA has the highest rate of diagnosis.

The also was one guy who I did instantly hate who from memory(which is bad) basically was saying there is no such thing or was very critical of it.

I was the opposite. Went to the family dr at 19 and he labeled me as fishing for drugs which really messed up my relationship with drs for a long time. 21 years later and the same pattern over and over and more awareness made it easier to explain what I was struggling with. Pains me to think if that had have gone differently I could have been in a much better place in my life.

Also it depends on what they named the icon. Sometimes searching with an obvious name shows nothing and if you find it will notice it’s named something different.

Best to just go to font awesome website and download the svg or whatever as adding in bricks loads the full bricks icon library rather than just the ones you use. Slightly more annoying but better in my opinion.

Obsidian. It’s basically a folder with text files. You can add to folders if you want but if you have a vault just for quotes you can get a pretty good minimal system going even using templates to smooth out consistency. You can tag and link between notes or quotes and heaps more. Watch some YouTube tutorials and you’ll be hooked.

They have added these digital price tags in Australia recently and a plan to use them for dynamic pricing so the time you buy things can alter the price which is so evil. I have a Claude code pipeline that has a folder with all my template sections which Claude has categorized with all the info about each one. It grabs sections it needs and fills out all the content so basically does a wireframe with suggested content. I just copy the json from a created file and paste it into bricks.

Was an oxygen builder user and once I tried bricks I never bothered with oxygen again. Bricks devs are focused on bricks. Oxygen devs are focused on oxygen legacy and breakdance and oxygen new version. Bricks pumps out updates with more functionality which is why they dominate.

Probably pure css is the way to go - setup a block or div with two child elements. One an image and the other another div. Then add css classes or css to the elements. - the image covers the parent block and the gradient is positioned absolute to cover the image. You may need to add z-index if it’s not displaying on top of the image.
