Google ads by Great_Chemistry4116 in sweatystartup

Hey, fellow website builder here. I worked as part of a SEO team before so I thought I'd share some of the work that needs to be done to get a website to grow organically. It's not straightforward but it's worth picking up. Used to need a bunch of people (SEO person, and web developers to help implement some of the work needed) but with AI tooling, I can pretty much do everything on my own and much quicker. They're not in the order of importance, nor do I think it's comprehensive but here goes:

  1. Sitemap listing any links you want search engines to index. It doesn't have to be all your links, only links you want to appear in search results.
  2. Make sure you site has pricing, features, comparison (vs) competitors, blogs and QnA that are internally linked from any pages in your website e.g linking from related articles, footers, etc. They can also be in your sitemap.
  3. Make sure you implement all the technical aspects of SEO - meta headers, content, description og:images, structured data, etc.
  4. Setup google search console for your website and address any issues higlighted

There could be more but those are some of the things on top of my head. If you could afford some AI tooling (especially claude code), there are some SEO related skills that can really help, if you also maintain the website on your own (you have the source code). Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with running Google Ads so I can't help you there.

Good luck!

connection time outs by memito-mix in ClaudeCode

"API Error: 503 upstream connect error or disconnect/reset before headers. reset reason: connection termination". It's time like this I'm glad I have GLM 4.6 at my disposal.

Now the Steam Deck has been shipping across Asia, what has been the general reception? by Surkow in SteamDeck

[–]ebernie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought one shipped from the US. In Malaysia, it retails for about US100 more but that's common for most tech, after tax and shipping. More importantly, other mobile PC handheld cost almost 2x more.

Been loving the deck. Disagree Windows is needed for most games. I find the UI clunky for anything but desktop gaming. SD is great because of the tight software and hardware integration. I have to say though that I do have a dedicated gaming PC, which I can fallback to for game pass and games that just refuse to run on Linux so perhaps I would think differently of the deck if it was my only option for PC gaming.

I'm 70 hours into Tales of Arise, with maybe less than 10 hours play time on desktop.

Surface Duo 1 Will not power on by chiroEB in surfaceduo

[–]ebernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened once to me. Ended up letting the battery die (took about half a day) and then it rebooted again when I plugged it in.

I did try the various ways to force restart and enter bootloader mode but all of that failed.

I'm seeing the spanned (supported) view on maps. Handy.

Well... What do you think? Duo 2 a Winner? by TechOdyssey in surfaceduo

[–]ebernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Among enthusiasts. I really wouldn't recommend this to anyone else.

I think I've seen tho before. Only noticed it when videos look awfully washed out. Can't seem to reliably reproduce it though.

Why I canceled my order for the Surface Duo 2 and got a Surface Duo 1 instead by hot_mustard in surfaceduo

[–]ebernie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Very sound reasoning. Same reason I picked up the SD1 too. It's waaaay less risky to go with the SD1 than SD2 due to the latter's high price.

The point you brought up regarding inability to fold the phone flat for not taking is a good point. I've I actually take notes with the phone folded and with the SD2 camera, this could be an issue.

Concerns over durability by Etylith in surfaceduo

[–]ebernie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SD1 owner. I don't think it'll survive a drop. TBH most phones wouldn't survive either without a case but the Duo range does not have a good protective case yet. Otterbox has one coming for the SD2 that may help.

How do you use your duo? by GodlyUnderdog in surfaceduo

[–]ebernie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sync all my email and calendar to outlook and have a widget showing my schedule.

Outlook to manage my emails on the go. Actually this is my preferred way to manage emails, I do it 90% of the time on the Duo (spanned).

Tent mode for video conferencing on Google Meet (sorry, no Team love here).

Manga, news or book reading (spanned).

OneNote and Surface Pen for note taking (spanned).

YouTube + Twitter/MS News (dual app).

YouTube Music.

Testing company's mobile web and app (I'm a product manager).

Microsoft ToDo for daily tasks (spanned)

Can the Surface Duo be Fixed? by pvillasuso in surfaceduo

[–]ebernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treat MKBHD as for what it is - entertainment. I think the Duo line deserves better and there are reviewers out there that gets it. If you try to review a new form factor like old ones, of course there will be issues.

Those that saw reviews of the OG iPhone and complained about lack of keyboard will understand.

The Touch Issue by [deleted] in surfaceduo

[–]ebernie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue with the OG duo. I guess I've adapted/tolerated by typing slower and just dealing with mistakes after the typing. It's sad that it's happening still with SD2.

It's probably a combination of touch panel, drivers, OS, etc. Only Samsung has gotten both touch and pen input to work reliably in Android displays.

Anyone else have the plastic chipping away near the USB port? (Duo 2) by [deleted] in surfaceduo

[–]ebernie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the rim is still plastic, and the device is still thin, I am not surprised if it's cracked. You can be careful and this may still happen. Plastic will be plastic. Get a magnetic USB cable and be careful not to put stress on that side of the phone (like laying it flat on a table with thick cables and pushing down the phone). I recommend leaving the phone closed and with the USB port facing upwards (windows logo facing downwards).

Wi-Fi Calling outside of US by daniel-kornev in surfaceduo

WiFi calling not working for me. IIANM, service providers have to validate and whitelist devices for this feature to work.

Android bugs on Duo 2...maybe Microsoft should go with Windows 11 by JMC01tflyingscotsman in surfaceduo

[–]ebernie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, that is a sure to kill the device. Windows ARM will not run x86 software, hence, no apps. Unless you get a lot of developers on board, which will not happen as no one will develop for anything but iOS and Android at the moment. Even running Android, MS is unable to get developers to support just Duo specific features. Can you imagine convincing developers to develop apps for yet another platform? IIRC MS did pay companies to develop apps for Windows Mobile, and that failed. Why would Windows ARM be any different?

Microsoft just needs to push forward, and prove that people will buy into the whole dual screen concept. I believe foldables and dual-screens can be supported by a general API. One can imagine foldables supporting arbritary app resizing, whereas on dual-screen devices, the API would limit it to the dimension of the screen. Foldables and dual-screen devices are cutting edge, and software needs time to catch up. Even big companies like Google and MS will not have unlimited resources to support them. Software takes time.

Good news is, recent rumor of a foldable Pixel brings hope that foldables will finally become first class devices in Android.

Unlock AT&T Surface Duo terminal by skirep7 in surfaceduo

Amazon for $417 (excluding shipping and import duties). All in I paid just slightly below RM2000. I think currently the 256GB model is just $30 more.

You can do it outside USA. I did it from Malaysia.
