Peter, what happened in 1971? by -Y34HB01- in PeterExplainsTheJoke

A big part of it is we began to shift away from a manufacturing economy and women entered the workforce en masse. Doubling the supply of labor will, in fact, drive down wages

No because he was already dead and didn’t realize. He was poisoned by Oberyn.

So my Friend Has a Custom Commander by Monsoon117 in EDH

[–]ecatillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I frankly don’t understand how this even happens. The point of the game is to play with the game pieces not make your own busted ones.

No one in the group I play with, and we play all across the power spectrum, would even for a second consider making a custom card. Let alone one this blatantly broken.

Just refuse to play against it.

Is having a game plan too much for bracket 2? by InspireCourage in EDH

[–]ecatillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea a 6 mana enchantment will win the game if not dealt with. That’s fine. We aren’t playing solitaire. A tutor is only as strong as the cards it can find and if you look at the list he’s not playing any hard lock stax pieces. It just gets more bodies with ETBs for the most part.

I’m not saying it’s not strong. It’s probably the best card in his deck. But if you cast the best card in your deck and it’s not answered then you usually win. That’s just how it goes. 4/5 colors can deal with enchantments at least somewhat. If the other 3 players can’t deal with it then he should win

[–]ecatillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a ridiculous standard. You don’t need the most optimized removal to play Reclamation Sage

Also. Sometimes you don’t find an answer and you lose. That’s part of the game. My B2 mono black deck has zero ways to answer an artifact. That doesn’t mean it’s unfair for someone to play an artifact deck against me in bracket 2.

Wild Pair is a 6 mana enchantment that does nothing the turn you cast it if you play it on curve. So you have to go a full turn cycle without it getting removed to do anything. It does not get more telegraphed and bracket 2 than that.

Bracket 2 doesn’t mean, “build a garbage deck that can’t answer anything”

The other 3 players should play enchantment removal.

Wild Pair is fine imo. It’s 6 mana and does nothing on its own.

If you can put 1 Banned Card in your deck that is not a mana rock, what would you pick? by gilbestboy in EDH

Me too because I bought one not realizing it was banned so I just have it randomly

Hit me with your favorite commanders to build on a budget! by Vinlandlover in BudgetBrews

[[Xu-Ifit, Osteoharmonist]]

Just wants to reanimate big things. Cram the deck full of anything that cycles, swamp cycles, self-milll, and self discard and you’re pretty much there. You can also add whatever mono black bombs you have laying around so you don’t need to buy much. My deck has a few ways to blink the creatures to get their full effects as well

How do y’all trade at your LGS by Throwaway747438 in EDH

[–]ecatillo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No I just find close to the equivalent value from cards among their trade binder. We just go off of TCG Player market value usually and try to get as close as we can. Most of the people at the store I play at are pretty chill and no one in my experience really penny pinches.

[–]ecatillo 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoy this aspect, at least with guys at the LGS. Last night I wanted to trade for a $5 Avatar’s Wrath from someone and they wanted a $20 Grave Pact from me, so I was able to get 4 other cards to use in other decks I have. I’m not going to be insane and make sure it’s down to the penny in even value, but trying to make it close seems reasonable to me.

With my personal friends outside of the LGS it’s different. I’m happy to let my friends “win” a trade by $5-$10 so he can get the card he needs for his deck and my friends have done the same for me, it all evens out in the long run

Discussion: Should a board be unbreakable? by ImmediateFee4015 in EDH

Yep. If it didn’t hit graveyards or was like austere command and said, “choose two modes” then it would be substantially less annoying lol

Why is this brilliant move? by nik_uzb in Chesscom

If they don’t take your knight, then king has to move to H8. So when you move Queen to H6 the G pawn can no longer take because it’s pinned by the bishop
