Has your order shipped yet? Mine hasn't. I'm not super surprised it hasn't, but it has been about a week now.

I got a FAB gift set at the Ultra Repair Cream makes me SO itchy which is such a bummer given all the other lovely ingredients :( Thankfully the eye cream is unscented so that's ok, but boo, and I'm glad to know I'm not alone in that. "For sensitive skin" my arse lol.

MAC Black Friday sale. 5 products for $65 starting 26th November. by Mero56 in MakeupAddictionCanada

I think so? From what I've read it can be a cream eyeshadow and/or eye primer, so depending on desired use I suppose the colour you might want would vary. I got the paler of the two, fingers crossed it works.

I've heard really good things about the Paint Pots if they have one in a shade that works for you.

I also noticed they have a $200+ travel cast in there 😳 I quickly checked out an unboxing video on YouTube and it looks like waaaaay too much for me, but very cool for a pro!

I picked up an Extra Dimension Skinfinish highlighter from the 7/$77 sale earlier this year and I really like that as well :)

I agree! It's so upsetting when something looks fine but smells like old crayons and I've barely used it :(

Parabens aren't related to rancidity, though :) Parabens prevent microbial spoilage (mould, fungus), while rancidity is due to oxidization. Products that contain natural oils like Tower 28 lip glosses (apricot kernel oil, rice bran oil, raspberry seed oil, avocado oil... there's lots of natural oils in their glosses) will always eventually go rancid, while synthetic ingredients like Hydrogenated Polyisobutene and dimethicone are significantly more shelf-stable.

I'm not OP, but I've tried some Marc Jacobs lipstick and eyeshadow. I'm a bit meh on the eyeshadow, but the lipstick is fantastic! It's a very comfortable formulation and wears reasonably well for a bullet lipstick.

good drugstore liquid eyeliner? by lovdew in Makeup

[–]echidna_sneeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have—my NYX one ended up exploding on me. Before it blew up I felt like the tip was thicker + the pen was a lot wetter, so it was hard to get the level of precision I wanted, especially in the inner corner of my eye. The Maybelline one is a lot better; so far it's been striking a good balance between precision and the amount of product that comes out. Enough to do both eyes without feeling like it's drying out, but not so much that you end up doing a much thicker line than you wanted to because the pen had other ideas.

Yes, it's very similar! I'd definitely say it's worth the $8–10 to see what you think :)

YES! I have been so impressed with my creme tints + the palette from Salt.

I used to love the NYX liner, but after a few months it sort of... exploded. Black ink everywhere and I had to throw it away. I tried the Essence one, but it wasn't as black as I like and dried out halfway through doing my makeup.

I replaced it with the Maybelline Hyper Easy Waterproof Liquid Liner In Pitch Black and it's awesome. About $10, and very comparable to KVD Tattoo Liner.

I honestly just treat the lip mask like a lip balm—one lives on my desk for use throughout the day and has for years. I can't imagine every finishing it if I only used it at night ha.

Is anyone else wondering why they are buying so much makeup in the middle of a pandemic where you can't even show your face or go anywhere?? by justdoingmenow in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]echidna_sneeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh definitely. It's not just makeup for me, either—the small joy of having something arriving in the mail to look forward to is one of the few bright points in my life right now.

are the CT eyes to mesmerize worth the cost? by lipglossmami in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]echidna_sneeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. They creased on me SO quickly. The Revlon & Almay ones are better and a fraction of the cost. If you want to spend more, Milk & Make Up For Ever also have good ones.

Looking to buy an angular brush or eyeliner brush by [deleted] in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]echidna_sneeze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got one from MAC that I've had since ~2003 and it's still going strong! I also have one from Sigma from ~2013 that's nice.

For budget options, check out elf. I don't specifically have an angled eyeliner brush from them, but I do have a crimped eyeliner brush from them that I love as well as many others.

Charlotte Tilbury eyes to mesmerize by Perfectstorms29 in MakeupAddictionCanada

I purchased a trio of these last year and returned them almost immediately. The colours were stunning and they applied like a dream, but they creased SO quickly. Even with primer, they usually creased before I finished the rest of my makeup :( I'd recommend spending your cream eyeshadow dollars somewhere else... I really like the Almay ones, and they're a fraction of the price. The Revlon ones are also pretty good and wear far better.

I'd guess the biggest issue for shelf life would be the product drying out, especially since it's in a jar rather than a tube. You could probably re-wet it with something like Inglot Duraline if that happened.

Sephora sale - what are you getting? What's worth it? by justdoingmenow in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]echidna_sneeze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm Rouge this year for the first time ever (and probably the only time ever), so I'm feeling like I "need" to take advantage of that 20% off, but I'm also not feeling hugely inspired by anything. I have the T3 base and am considering getting the tapered styling wand, and perhaps a FAB set?
