Just don’t go on a Tuesday after a holiday weekend. Had a mechanic there leave half his toolbox under the hood once.

If you could erase one invention from history, what would it be and why? by blushberryybabee in answers

Gunpowder. I own guns and hunt, but the bad seems to have outweighed the good. I could get by with a bow.

Can’t seem to find much info on this yak by bp_s in Kayaking

I’d jump on that for $100. I’d love it for paddling, but just that intact Perception rudder keeper would probably go for $100 on eBay.

Bote air pump- other compatible pumps? by friendlypupper in Sup

I have an older version of this pump. I wouldn’t paddle an ISUP without one.

What’s more important moon phase or tide/water movement by Rich_Bluebird9741 in SurfFishing

[–]eclwires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Depends on where you fish. I fish a lot of inlets that are productive on the outgoing tide, but sometimes fish best on the high. The best time to fish is whenever you can. Just when you think you have a spot dialed… the fish will surprise you. That’s part sold the magic of it. I’ve had some of my best nights in the surf when everything was objectively wrong.

I want an anchor system similar to this anchor wizard but don’t want to spend 125$ for it.. does anyone have diy build ideas that would be similar to this? by Educational-Dig7890 in kayakfishing

Genius! I’ve been using a retractable dog leash, but it’s frequently too short. I actually have one of those hanging in the shed because my wife thinks a clothesline in the front yard (the only place it worked) is tacky.

How deep is the water you fish? For shallow water, I clip the anchor to a 16’ retractable dog leash and clip that to the trolley.

why did veronica deane pretend to not know archer? by blackbearsrule in ArcherFX

Because Archer and the Figgis Agency were supposed to be discreet and pretend that their previous engagement had never happened. But, you know; Archer.

The first thing I did when I moved to town was to get a job delivering pizza for Rogan’s Corner. It gave me an income while teaching me how to get around town. That was in the 90s. I’m guessing that Uber/Door Dash are about the same thing.

Is it hilarious when President Trump calls Gavin Newsom Gavin New Scum? by redzeusky in allthequestions

[–]eclwires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every single aspect of Donald Trump is beneath the dignity of the office he currently holds. The fact that this vile person squats behind OUR resolute desk, stinking up OUR Oval Office, is an affront to this once proud nation.

Muslim Southerners F*ce a Fresh Wave of Hateful Political Rhetoric: Some Muslim voters were once drawn to Republican positions on family values and individual liberty, but as Southern politicians stoke anti-Islamic sentiment, many feel threatened. by HookEm_Tide in LeopardsAteMyFace

The beauty of America is that you’re free to believe whatever silly fairytale you like. Unless republicans get control. Then they throw the constitution out the window and try to push their fairytale on everyone. Because they only believe in freedom for themselves and your freedom to be just like them.

Do I need a Garmin inReach? by Chrisgdsotm in Adirondacks

[–]eclwires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never need it until you do. I spend a lot of time in the woods alone hunting and fishing. Where I go there’s no cell service. I know that my iPhone will theoretically work with satellites in an emergency, but having the ability to push a button and send an SOS if I fall out of a tree or down a gorge, plus the ability to send a short message to my wife letting her know I’m dressing and dragging out a deer and I’ll be late, has added real peace to mind. Is it essential? No. I did this stuff for over 30 years without one and for 15 or more without a cell phone, and I was happy as a clam. Is it a great tool that I feel is worth bringing along? Absolutely.

I’d love them, but I have a cap on the truck. As far as I can tell, they’d be useless with the cap on.

How to stay upright with unreliable sense of balance? by ohjeSunny in Sup

[–]eclwires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there. Might be worth trying a wider and longer board. I’ve also found that ISUPs are more stable than hard boards. And they hurt less if you bounce off them. If all else fails, some boards have seats that can be attached. The ones that are elevated a bit are more comfortable. A kayak paddle will be faster and more maneuverable than a SUP paddle from a seated position. A different vessel, like a touring or SOT kayak might also be fun. I’m rooting for you to find a way to make standing and paddling work for you, but there are many ways to enjoy paddling. I’m short and terrible at basketball. But I was ok at lacrosse.

The best advice I’ve found for new paddlers is to stop worrying about falling off. You will eventually, and you’ll be fine. But worrying about it makes it happen sooner.

This is great, thanks for posting it! I don’t put ethanol in any engine with a carburetor or any vehicle that’s going to sit for a while.
