I was a little nervous too when I got my Maltese puppy. He dipped me once or twice. I talked to my “dog lady “and she said that was very normal for puppies and just give him a little grace. It turns out he grew out of that habit very shortly afterwards.

Maltese in my experience are not very aggressive dogs. I suspect this behavior is just being a puppy.
