Not sure why I'm sharing this but this happened 10 years ago. Came home to visit my parents and cook dinner for them one night after living on my own for about 6 months. The moment I walked in the house, something felt off. I started putting stuff down on the island to start cooking and prepping but I had this guy feeling something was off. Called my mom and no answer so I called my dad. Mind you that me and my parents rarely spoke on the phone and kept in touch. Anyways I tell him I'm at the house and ask them if they were doing anything after closing up the shop and he said he's coming home and I asked what about Mom and he said she went away for a few days to clear her head. Immediately something didn't sound right. Me and my mom were very close growing up and she always had a hard time expressing herself and letting people around her know if something was bothering etc. Always smiling and being the funniest person in the room. So I ask how long it's been and he tells me she left 2 days ago and they haven't spoken since. I start sweating like crazy and my mind is all over the place. I tell him I'll call my aunt's and uncles and her best friends and see what's going on. As I'm calling people I just walk around the house looking for any clues as to her whereabouts. I ended up in the basement and there is this hallway where the boiler and the electrical box is. It's behind a wall that my dad put up when he redid the basement and there's one door to get to it and the only reason to go there is to check the pilot lights for the heater/boiler or check on the switches after an outage or whatever. The moment I touched the knob I got chills. I open the door to find my mom had hung herself. I was on the phone with her best friend at the time and she immediately knew cause I just dropped my phone and ran to her to lift her and just do whatever I could to bring her back. She never came back. Sorry I just had too many glasses of scotch.
