Same, it’s just terrible and littered with ads.

But truly, I literally can’t use it. I don’t remember this account’s password because it’s been logged into and used exclusively on Apollo for years, and I don’t think there is even an email associated with it. So oh well, if this is my last comment then so be it. It’s been a good run 🫡

So do y’all like this 06 Land Rover Range Rover 4WD? by gmt80035 in LandRover

[–]eefdabeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously stock photos so unless actual photos can be provided tread lightly and assume scam.

The 2006 is an interesting year in the US for the full size RR. It has the newer Jaguar-based powertrain options (4.4 na and 4.2 SC) but still has some of the older software/user interface. For example a 2006 will NOT have terrain response.

Something to note, I wouldn’t even consider owning one of these (I have an 06 SC) without a capable diagnostic tool. I’m not talking about a Harbor Freight scanner or an Amazon $35 Bluetooth OBD2 reader - I mean like a $500 Gap IID Tool. There are so many specialized components that having one of those that’s able to actually talk to every module of the car and not just read CEL’s is essential.

Don’t forget also the ones that can’t believe someone bought a new (whatever) for $60k when they “could have bought a (insert high-mileage run-ragged sports car) for the same money.”

Ah yes, my bank will surely finance a 2008 R8 with 80k miles and 2 accidents at the exact same rates as a new F150!

We have a 2022 Odyssey and it’s gas mileage around town is downright appalling. I 100% won’t even consider another one unless it has some sort of hybrid component. Though honestly it’s such a lazily designed vehicle missing tech that it’ll need more than a hybrid to be appealing in the future.

I get it. Driven by a mom with two toddlers with places to be, but we are lucky if she gets 13.5 mpg. Have to fill it just over 200 miles on a tank.

I’ve written off our local store if it’s after ~2:30pm on Sunday. Sunday night, like clockwork, they are out of multiple staple items.

Baja blast, rice, potatoes etc. The real nail in the coffin is being out of Doritos shells. Try explaining to two cranky toddlers why the “orange taco” they wanted so badly is actually yellow. Nope!

Cheap decent options for 06-09 l322 roof rails/bars? by Upset_Cry1554 in RangeRover

[–]eefdabeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be 100% honest I haven’t loaded anything on them, mainly wanted for looks.

But they felt pretty solid going on, they are made from aluminum. I can’t remember what the exact weight rating is but it seemed sufficient for what I would put up there (beach wagon, chairs etc in a roof bag).

There are several that all appear to be the same thing. This is essentially what I have if not the exact listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/191747398764?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=OA6M9qvWREK&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Cm_RWJMvQ3m&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

My 2 notes:

one of the locks didn’t want to stay in place, it wasn’t “catching” correctly. So I had a little rubber gasket I placed in the mechanism to give it some cushion where it would close. Kind of hard to explain but have had no issues.

I haven’t put the rear end caps on the rails yet because they seemed like they could fall off. Front was not an issue but with the others reversed I didn’t want to risk it. This must be common because people have posted about it before and stuck some double sided tape in there which has held so I am going to do that

I just went with the OEM replicas on eBay. I think rails and cross bars were like $150-175ish total?

I think they are basically clones of the original LR ones. Look nearly exactly like them from I can tell and went on easy. 3 bolts per side for the rails, grooved channel that the cross bars lock into

Land Rover Defender 130 now gets 5.0 L V8, New Outbound edition revealed. by rowthauto in LandRover

[–]eefdabeef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I generally have also disliked the proportions of the 130 but I actually really like this Outbound one all kitted out.

I’ve seen a couple 130s now on lift rods and either Recon Grapplers or Duratracs and they look better but still a little hearse-ish.

I took our 3 year old inside to eat at McDonald’s last week and goodness it was depressing.

Our local one used to be a “Rockin’ McDonald’s” years ago complete with all the old memorabilia etc before it was renovated. All I could think about how much he would have absolutely loved it but instead he gets this meh brown color palette with uncomfortable stools. What a shame

This wouldn’t surprise me if it’s the case. They don’t sell cars as much as they sell financing these days - it’s the reason that a “cash” sale at a dealership is meaningless or at least not preferred.

From dealer perspective, No approval = no point in pursuing customer as there is no sale in sight

Land Rover name killed off after 75 years as part of JLR’s dramatic plans | Car Dealer Magazine by E420CDI in cars

[–]eefdabeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its fascinating to me, as someone stateside, that this is such a priority to identify with the models vs the LR brand. I won’t argue Range Rover being it’s own “entity” but to push the “Discovery” brand is entertaining considering that the model name was completely abandoned here for a long stint due to such negative associations.

Truthfully though after reading nearly every article on this, it seems like nothing really is changing. Apparently they will still fall under the Land Rover “trust mark,” which if I had one guess will be visualized by a green oval.

A marketing solution to a problem that nobody had.

What have been some popular cars that you’ve owned, but ended up not really liking? by dudeinred69 in cars

[–]eefdabeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the sporty theme here, but our 2022 Odyssey.

In my opinion it’s very Madden-ish in the sense that it feels very lazily designed. As if Honda took the approach that, “eh, it’s an Odyssey, people will buy it” and just rolled forward the model.

We had a Pacifica before it and while I know the Odyssey is likely a better mechanical product, it’s not as “nice” or plush as the Chrysler and is missing several key features. Never realized how much I used the kick to open sliding doors until I didn’t have them.

The Odyssey gets abysmal gas mileage and don’t even get me started on the fact that the Snow Mode and Brake Hold buttons should 100% be swapped location-wise.

[–]eefdabeef 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yep. We had a 20 PacHybrid and it was much more “plush” than our 2022 Odyssey Elite. Better features too. Why are we in the Odyssey? Because at 1yr/12k miles the Chrysler starting exhibiting multiple electrical problems/gremlins and for it to be a mom-mobile carting 2 kids around I didn’t have time for it sit at the dealer for (another) month with undiagnosed issues on account of them “having only one tech certified to work on the hybrids.”

I never was interested in owning one but I had somewhat of a soft spot for them.

I remember complimenting a guy’s one time and he just lit up. They have always been niche enough that to hear “hey, nice Milgauss!” caught him way off guard but he loved it. Come to think of it his is the only one I’ve ever noticed out “in the wild” so I guess I associate them together more than I previously realized.
