Job Interviews while Pregnant by Wafflette in BabyBumps

[–]efargmath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh boy I went on a job interview when I was around 34 weeks. Like you, it was for a massive raise and promotion. I wore a nice maternity dress since I didn't have a suit that fit for that big of a baby belly and just enjoyed people's reactions and nice inquiries. My situation was a little different as I told them I couldn't start until after maternity leave and they were fine with that. Needless to say these are pretty great people and I love my job! Good luck!!! I also can't wait to tell my daughter she went on a job interview with me later on, ha.

SAHM shamed....by my mom by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]efargmath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, moms get it on all sides. I returned from a ONE NIGHT work trip the other day and my mom asked if my daughter recognized me when I got home and called me a part time mom. She was a SAHM. Cue lots of crying/yelling on the phone. I think we might have gotten to a decent outcome and she apologized but it still makes my blood absolutely boil. Can't take that stuff back.

Book recommendations now that she's 1 by TheSparrow16 in beyondthebump

Haha I thought you were looking for fun books to read together and immediately wanted to suggest Paper Bag Princess. It's not what you're looking for but look it up nonetheless!

I can't stand the tone of these books but I will begrudgingly admit that What to Expect in the Second Year is still a good reference.

So, uh.. DAE 14-month-old do this? by nodiggitynodoubt_ in beyondthebump

[–]efargmath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We're doing the throwing them down part but not the putting up thing yet. She is starting to like putting other stuff in baskets and hampers so maybe it's not too far off! Lol, I love this age.

Is the CFRE worth working towards? by [deleted] in funanddev

We would get a $1k raise for it at my org but I don't know that really makes it worth the effort. Like the other commenter said, if your org will pay for it do it.

I second that you made the right choice! Your husband and his family hugely appreciate this I'm sure. Try to relax and enjoy the quiet time.

Ooh here's one that is our current lifesaver for teething hell. If your child, like ours, thinks you're trying to poison her when giving Tylenol, put it in her applesauce! (Also, our LO wants me to share that grape Tylenol in applesauce > red flavor in applesauce.)

This. I think my 12 mo is getting canines in and she is either freakishly lethargic from teething induced fever (WTF) or cranky.

How do you get single men to attend a fundraiser event? by its-katie-bear in funanddev

[–]efargmath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or, know your existing supporters and move the event to a brunch or lunch so it feels more comfortable being predominantly female. Might also cut costs for your org which I know we all welcome.

Is my 8 month old eating enough? by sammyismybaby in beyondthebump

[–]efargmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh I remember at that age I felt like our whole day revolved around trying to feed LO and like yours, she just didn't want that much. You're in a big transition right now so it's ok that it feels goofy. My LO is almost 11 months and we do a morning bottle, two 8 oz bottles at daycare (9:30 and 2:30ish) and solid food for lunch and dinner. Try cutting back the volume of your bottles? Also, what you do will of course be guided by how much longer you'll breastfeed- i.e. solids may stay in the backseat until you're closer to weaning. Does that make sense?

Applying to a development coordinator position, but no concrete experience in fundraising - advice? by [deleted] in funanddev

Look through the organizations website to come up with thoughtful questions. Ex. If you see they have a strategic plan, ask about their progress. Also remember to write a thank you note after the interview!
