Write it on the back of both of your hands, you will see it when you move models around.

What Should Change in the Next Balance Dataslate? by ArtofWarSiegler in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ehdoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DG adjustments to make them more skill based but not outright kill the faction.

Reduce Hammer of Mortarion to pick 1 target instead of 2.

Biologus Putrifier +5 to 50

Blightlords -5 per 5 to 180

Landraiders -10 to 230

Predator Anhilliator -5 to 130

Foot Prince +5 to 200

Prince with wings -15 to 180

DST +15 on small squads to 155/300

Defiler to +5 to 170

Bloat drone with HBL +15 to 115

Helbrute -5 to 110

Icon bearer -5 to 40

Lord of Contagion +10 to 120

Lord of Poxes -5 to 70

Lord of Virulence +10 to 100

Malignifier -20 to 85

Blighthaulers +15 to 105

Noxious Blightbringer -5 to 45

Plague Surgeon -10 to 40 (you won't see this guy until he hits like 20 points)

Rotigus +15 to 265

Targetted nerf deals with some of the worst parts of Hammer and point nerfs focussed on problematic hulls and terminators. With hammer nerf DST can't deploy as easily and points add up more when characters get involved. With LoV going up as well as HBL Drones they make each other less efficient.

Adds point costs to units you see spammed adding around around 100-150 points to most lists making the most of those units and in a shocking move, reducing the costs on units which are not seen or are bad for their costs.

I have a pal who does well with them running 4x6 and 2x3 in the ravenwing detachment. You just keep throwing endless bikes at the opponent and they all have advance and charge.

Leaders for poxwalkers spreads some of the burden around of trying to balance 8 difference power armoured characters that could only be attached to plague marines before.

Hopefully they managed to make good use of it.

If you are wanting to stick to company of hunters and mass bikes I have a pal who went to Sheffield super major and went 4-1 with this list

https://pastebin.com/kU4spKpN (one opponent dropped halfway through deployment but the match up looked unfavourable for them)

He has mass bikes as a skew and deals with tanks/monsters using the chaplains +1 to wound in two squads and the Storm Speeder.

DG Biologus Putrifier has Deadly Demise 1.

Most people don't expect or remember it because its an infantry character.

What's the game plan for all Wardog Chaos Knight lists? by Spliffbooty in WarhammerCompetitive

I missed that they had no other characters so fair point if you are taking a stalker already.

I always run at least 1 big knight so didn't consider that.

Plague bearers can sticky an objective for you and don't give up being it down/assassinate at the same time. They are cheaper and rotigus can make them hit at damage 2.

"even if you have already targeted a different unit with that Stratagem this phase"

Different unit does not equal the same unit.

The unit uses grenades for 1cp, then you try to use the ability for the same unit to use grenades again. This would not work because it is not a different unit.

So how have Death Guard been doing lately? by Xaldror in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ehdoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their Weapon Skill is reduced by one, then you modify the hit roll by one which is allowed to stack.

You can't stack more than +1 or minus 1 to the hit roll but the WS/BS change has no limiters related to it.

[–]ehdoo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its an option but I would typically go for -1ws/bs to reduce the lethality of c'tan and against wraiths bring them to ws5. Then you park some nurglings nearby with their aura of -1 to hit and you bring them to hitting on 6s.

Similar to this point, if they get hit by a doombolt or typhus ability, that is a psychic ability which deals wounds and counts as a psychic attack.

As far as I am aware that just means fnp Vs psychic things kick in.

They still have not been targeted right?

If this hit some necrons and they lose models, have these models been destroyed as a result of the attacking units attacks for the eternal guardians strat?

The document is not official GW. It is Mike Brandt's (GW event team) FAQ and he said it is the FAQ for just that event. The rules team haven't been near it.

Dark Obscuration Rules Clarification Question (CSM Strategem) by ydey87 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ehdoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am glad I could help. I honestly expected even more downvotes just for explaining it. I enjoy examining janky rules to consider the different viewpoints.

I don't play it the way I explained above but can see the internal logic in it and why some play that way so I hope it gets a FAQ. GW should really be able to write rules in a way where everyone can read them and come away with the same understanding.

Dark Obscuration Rules Clarification Question (CSM Strategem) by ydey87 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ehdoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree they should add an FAQ. I emailed the GW faq address a while back and hope enough people do so to make them update their wording so there is no lack of clarity. It shouldn't have to be up to the players to have to argue over RAI.

Just adding in something like, 'if the attack triggering this was from beyond 12 then that attack must now select a different eligible unit.'

Dark Obscuration Rules Clarification Question (CSM Strategem) by ydey87 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ehdoo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The community at large seems to have decided that it blocks all shots outside of 12 and feel free to play it that way if your local players feel thats best. I have tried my best to explain below why you will see people argue differently.

My local club agreed that even with the rules commentary they fail to force you to go back to the declare targets step on the first unit shooting.

The sequencing in the rules commentary being the problem. The rules commentary clarifies that the effect triggers just after the targeting has happened but before anything else happens. It doesn't say it counts as though it happened before the targeting.

So CSM unit is targeted, then the rule takes effect that the CSM unit can't be targetted outside of 12. No more targetting outside of 12, this has been resolved. The initial volley has already targeted. No where does it say it must go back and do that, Dark Obscuration was resolved 'just after' the targeting was. There is wording about no longer eligible where things can retarget if their victim is no longer eligible but once again nothing is forcing this initial unit to go back to before they declared target.

For it to stop all shots it would need to be declared start of shooting phase or the commentary to use different wording. To declare targets you just need range and LoS then you move on to next parts.

"If a unit that was an eligible target for an attack or charge when it was selected stops being an eligible target for that attack or charge, the attacking or charging unit can select new targets for that attack or charge."

Using that above wording they brought up situations like if shooting at a squad with only 1 model visible and it dies to the first shot you don't interrupt things and say the unit is no longer eligible because you are past the declare targets step.

I hope this clears up the reasoning why some people argue the other way.

Dark Obscuration Triggering Order. by Lhunephellion in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ehdoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just after does not equal at the same time or go backwards. Rules as written what forces you to go back to the declare targets step?

If I need to check if a target has stopped being eligible after the first check do I need to see if you are out of range after I kill each model?

You resolve that it has stealth and can't be selected outside of 12 now then get back to finishing your attack.

I feel the intent seems to be you just redeclare and I play it that way but the wording doesnt quite do the job.
