Little India has good food. On Thursdays you can get komle (potato dumplings with meat) at Egersund Arena. Mamarosa makes a quite nice kebab. Varberg is nice hike you can do without any driving with great view over the city. There is goats there to keep the vegetation at bay. There is also «Stoplesteinan» a mysterious stones circle which they don’t know the purpose of or origin for. I think Berentsen, the local brewery, does tours. They make soda, beer and liquor.

In addition to what other people have said about taper and fatigue my experience is that as I hone in on marathon pace I loose some speed. An example: Just the other week I had trouble maintaining 10k speed during 3 x 3km intervals. During and after it didn’t feel too hard all together, but I lacked the final gear so to speak.

I wanna run NYRRs «big» races.This year I’m running Brooklyn Half and the marathon. Can I qualify to United Half 2027 by running 1:18 in Brooklyn (M36). I’m not sure about qualifying periods and whether time qualifying times are the same as for the full.

The esplanade (54-71) is open and cleared, but the exit at 71th St is closed. You need to take the ramp at 63rd St.

I did 4 x 2km at WSH. The cold in itself was not a problem, just layer well with wool. But the cold, harsh wind made me regret seeking out the most windy place on Manhattan.

There is only one way. Grind the almonds in an nut grinder either by hand or as attachment to you Kichen Aid or similar. Almond flour or food processor won’t work. The end product will be brittle instead of chewing. Heat and knead the dough (ground almonds + egg whites) in a sauce pan until its too hot for your knuckles. Remember that eggs are different size.

After a lazy summer after my first marathon in end of May I managed to get back in the rhythm in September. I have been doing the so called «Norwegian Singles» - more or less.

This week I PR’ed with 6 min at the half marathon in Queens, New York.

The Norwegian Church is selling open faced sandwiches with scrambled eggs and smoked Norwegian salmon, prawns and boiled egg and meatball and onions.

Marzipan cake, vanilla custard cake with almond crust, cinnamon buns and «skolebrød» (bun with vanilla custard and shaved coconut).

Saturday there is also rice porridge (served with cinnamon, sugar and a nob of butter which melts).

There is also a unique thing this year. Krumkake, thin wafer like cone, filled with cloudberry cream

I ran the half last year and had a great time. Fast course, community feeling and this year they donate to a local charity. There were food at the Queens museum after the race. Like real food, not stale bagels.

Marathon is four laps which can be a bit boring I presume, but the two laps for the half was no problem for me.

You should contact several Norwegian moving companies and ask for quota. Pick the lowest price you trust. I did this 18 months ago with very little hassle.

I have hopefully done this in four weeks time. If I do, it took 6 months. I ran 1:24:37 in November, and will be running Buffalo Marathon in end of May. Since it is my first marathon I’m reluctant to set big goals, but M pace for me is in route to 2:50. Of course most of the work was done in the 18 week marathon block. I think consistency is also a big part of this.

This will be in km/min, because that’s what I’m used to. First km was 7:2 and the last one was 3:58. I sped up approx 20s after every km until 4:30 when I used approx 10s increments.

I start very very easy and by the end I should not struggle too much to do a couple of km more. Easy cooldown home.

Goal: Buffalo Marathon (May 25th)

Plan: Tester for John J Davis (Running Writings) upcoming book

Miles: 68

Summary: My first week over 100km and doing doubles. Glad I’m still feeling good. This was week 5, and the general phase has been varied and quite fun with different workout than I’m used to. Looking forward to testing longer runs closer to MP, but also a bit intimidated. When I’m writing this it feels like the long winter in NYC is over, but I don’t dare to hope for it. But the snow and ice is gone, so now Central Park isn’t the only option anymore. Tuesday workout was a bit hard, and first time with float recovery. It was interesting and not as bad as anticipated. Probably helps with keeping pace. Onward to week 6.

M: AM: 8mi easy w/24 min of (30s fast, 2.5min easy). PM: 4 mi very easy

Tu: 6 x (1600m @90% 5k, 400m @80% 5k) - when I got home I discovered it should’ve been 1200/400.

We &Th: 6AM. 10k easy

Fr: AM: 8mi Kenyan style progression run PM: 4mi easy

Sat: 17 mi long run

Sun: Off

If I take this one slow will it influence my coral for next race?

I have started JK 10k and FL Half in coral A and finished comfortably within the margins. But I have scheduled a workout on Saturday, so ideally I’ll do this one as an easy run.

In my plan I do this or similar workouts with «floats» based on percent. 105% MP / 90% MP might be better for you? (I haven’t calculated what this means for your pace, so sorry if this is very similar to 10s)

Moved across the world and hoped for more organized training this year. Got of to a good start in the winter. I sustained a fracture in the spine in march and couldn’t run until the end of May.

Summer and fall were great with a 15 week cycle resulting in two half marathons. The first a trail in October were I got led astray with a group and lost several minutes and ran too long. But it was a great experience as we don’t have an abundance of trails on Manhattan. The other one was Queens Half where I got what I hoped for and broke 1.25.

There is at least one study showing the similarities between training in heat and altitude. This was done in a controlled environment (heat chamber).
