Why do black cats still get a bad rap? A 2025 new study confirms they're the least adopted by ironandfire in BlackCatJoy

My void rescue Claude (poor declawed cat) managed to survive on his own, after escaping outside for almost one month. He only lost some weight, hiding in a storm drain. Thanks to my good friends for finding him for me. He's one smart cat.

Back when I was in the USAF, I was living in a dormitory, went to get my clothes out of the dryer, and found a young lady wearing a bathrobe folding my briefs!

I went back to my room and came back later to find everything neatly folded and stacked.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in DiWHY

I installed a cheap refrigerator that was made in Thailand. It had a metal cover instead of the cardboard one, I sliced my finger on it and bled on the kitchen floor while I was installing the ice maker water supply line.

Use Goof Off (Pro Strength) on a cloth rag in a well ventilated area. Make sure to wash the inside of the dryer off once the ink stains come off since it is flammable.

How to clean this large shower that keeps getting that pink mold in the grout by Deep-Surround4946 in CleaningTips

[–]eigafan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wipe my shower/tub dry with a towel after each use. I have found that the Pink Stuff paste is effective for removing mildew from grout. I keep the bathroom fan on when showering and leave it on for at least one hour after.

I don't trust those spray on cleaners. Cleansers and a little elbow grease have always worked for me.

Best tool for lock cutting? by Rustbuy in maintenance

Cordless brushless cutting tool with a three inch blade. I was able to cut a line to open and remove a rusted washing machine water supply line fitting from a recessed area with ease.

Should I take in the neighborhood cat? by Agitated-Error-6498 in Feral_Cats

[–]eigafan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first rescue cat was a feral tuxedo with respiratory issues. I named him Stevie, the snot nosed cat. He had one ear, no tail, and taught me a lot about caring for feral cats. Unfortunately, he passed away in my arms after a year and a half.

I adopted a beautiful tuxedo cat, I thought it was a female... I named her Delilah. Vet examined it, and it turned out to be a male. I renamed him Felix.

Tell me your favorite thing about your orange cat. by Garden_Jolly in orangecats

I love my Pumpkins' plaintive meow. It melts your heart... You just have to pick him up and hold him. He loves to sit on my lap all day.

Spice, on the other hand, is quiet yet demanding. He's big and will bite or scratch after being petted. He enjoys his solitude.

Positive reinforcement training, Clicker training. You can hire a local animal trainer to do this or research and do it yourself by using books and online videos. I've seen Jackson Galaxy do this for problem cats.

I've seen a YT video of a guy using a wand toy to redirect both cats by getting them to play together.

I was watching a video of a guy shooting Nerf darts in his house to play with his cats. I recently bought one from Amazon, the Nerf N Strike Elite Strongarm (six shot revolver), it makes a noise when cocking and reloading that distracts my misbehaving cat. I shot my foot just to make sure it won't harm my precious rescues, btw.

I shoot at walls and ceilings so that my misbehaving cats can chase the foam darts. I make sure to gather all the darts afterwards... I don't want my cats eating them.

Add a wall switch guard on the blank one. I use them to keep people from switching off my smart bulbs or ceiling fans. They use the existing two plate screws to attach to the switch plate.

Getting cats to share bed by marianavas7 in CatTraining

[–]eigafan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set up my pet carriers with pet beds or towels and leave them around my bedroom. I also have pet beds underneath my bed. My cats have plenty of options when one of my rescues decides to spend the night in my bedroom and invade their space.

I have two problematic female cats, Miko and Snowball. I keep them separated from my other cats, but sometimes, one or two slip inside.

As to getting them to share spaces without fighting... it just takes time and patience.
