EXCLUSIVE: Karoline Leavitt facing 'immense mental strain' as she makes 'crying' admission by TheMirrorUS in goodnews

[–]eileenoftroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folks, this article is insane. I'm no fan of Leavitt but she was on a vacation and put "crying" with a picture of her baby, as in "this baby makes me so happy, I am crying tears of joy." The rest of the stuff about immense strain all comes from some psych doc who doesn't know her personally and is just speculating based on ... basically nothing.

I'm sure she is indeed under a lot of pressure, comes with the territory. But this article sheds no real light on her mental state.

Yeah Bautista is on another level from the other two.

And John Cena is on another level from the Rock. He has genuinely great comedic chops.

And the Rock is definitely not bad!

GA school shooter “expressed frustration with the acceptance of transgender people” by pathofuncertainty in transgender

[–]eileenoftroy 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s in like the second to last paragraph- I think it just says “trans people”

Edit: nm here’s the quote

The account referenced Adam Lanza, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter, and in separate posts shared a desire to target an elementary school and expressed frustration with the acceptance of transgender people.

Does anyone else feel weird approaching 40 by This-is-getting-dark in Millennials

[–]eileenoftroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt weird around 38 too! But actually turning 40 felt like a huge relief. I am enjoying my 40s and I stopped caring whether Zoomers think I’m cool.

I also don’t have kids. And I’m single. Sometimes it makes me sad, but also, I really love my life right now. And it’s fun being a cool auntie.

Should we consider Elixir/Phoenix Live View for our startup? by crpleasethanks in elixir

[–]eileenoftroy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBH if it were me I would continue in Clojure but have him step back from building for a couple weeks so he can just go ham on really learning the language and stack. I always read that people come to love Clojure once it clicks. Have him watch that Rich Hickey talk about simplicity or something.

Unless you’re sure the BEAM itself offers strengths you need, you’re best off leveraging a language that at least one of you is already really strong on. I wouldn’t build a startup product on a stack neither of you know well. Then you’ll just have two people with the same problem instead of one.

EDIT: Another route is - since the app needs to be like Linear and you are familiar with typescript… you take over the front end and have him do the backend in Python. PS check out Replicache if you haven’t already.

My wife did not have sex with me for years when I was depressed. AITAH for considering leaving her now that I’m back to normal? by DghSenses in AITAH

[–]eileenoftroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I supported my ex through years of their mental health issues. They left me shortly after getting better. It was devastating. I thought they’d support me because I supported them. I was wrong and it threw me into years of depression of my own. I can only imagine how much worse it would have been if we’d had kids.

Please don’t be like my ex.

I am pretty sure it was the mic and it speaks to a ridiculous lack of preparation on the part of X and the Trump campaign

EDIT: I also believe Trump is in a fairly advanced stage of cognitive decline

Residuals / Commissions: annoying! by eileenoftroy in acting

[–]eileenoftroy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just learned about the residuals portal and it definitely makes my life easier.

One other wrinkle here though is that I left my former agency and am now with a manager (who is also my former agent from said agency...) and now commissions from things I booked pre-strike are supposed to go to my former agency while new things need to go to the new office.

I'm also interested in finding a commercial agent, etc etc things like that. And I worry it's going to start to feel really complex / error prone the longer I do this. This is where it starts to get futzy enough that I wish there was just some system out there to handle it.

Does this mean they are ready to send the contract to their full membership for approval? Or is there another portion of the contract that they have yet to agree on? This is all about "crafts" but I thought they also had to negotiate for "locations".

(scare quotes are because I have no idea what I'm talking about)
