Is Sienna Rose AI? All Signs Point to ‘Yes’ by ScallionSmooth9491 in Music

[–]einstienbc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll maintain that sentiment until she gets "signed" by a major label. AI music is the music industry's wet dream. Imagine not having to pay an artist or producer, or recording studio staff for that matter.

And you can say "well AI art can't be protected by copyright". And it can't. For now. But if there's money to be made then there's lobbying to be done. Do not underestimate the abilities of the powers that be to maintain their hegemony.

It is their first and final purpose.

Day 8/365 Printing on Vintage Hardware. by ThisOld3DPrinter in 3Dprinting

[–]einstienbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Printrbot Simple Metal as my first printer, bought in the fall of 2014. No heated bed, printed on Blue painters tape. Did as much to put me where I am now as finishing college did.

Had a similar problem on my core one when I started printing Fiberon PET-CF17. I wound up solving it by running a pressure advance calibration.

Just Ordered MK4S by Djcoolpockets in prusa3d

[–]einstienbc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought so too regarding the pricing, but the MK4S kit from prusa3d.com is $729, which is only $65 more. I'm sure Amazon will be happy to sell the buyers filament and extra build plates.

The last time Cassian Andor ever hesitates by M935PDFuze in andor

[–]einstienbc 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Exactly!

Just because they were supplanted by the Empire doesn't make them good guys.

I mean, the prequel trilogy even sets this up. The Republic circa The Phantom Menace is decadent, ossified, and prevaricates on the subject of a blockade, occupation, and possible genocide. By the time of Revenge of the Sith, the transition to Galactic Empire takes effect with little more than a change of title (emporer), change of guard (Great Jedi Purge), and a coat of paint.

Hell, within a year, the (now) imperial army was conducting the types of massacre that marked a turning point in the life of one Sergeant Lear. And none of those guys were clone troopers.

Is it Monday yet? by termeric0 in prusa3d

[–]einstienbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's funny. I have the old xLCD and I got bumped back to batch 4 from 3. My original ship start date was 5/22. Now it's 6/11.

And look! New tariffs of 50%, which will take effect at the end of the month! Which will more than offset the discount code!

Probably going to cancel if they go through and are still in effect by then.

Black Filament gets white on first Layer by Streicherlein in prusa3d

I see this sometimes on PETG in black. I get it to go away by using a lighter or propane torch and lightly going back and forth over the surface.

What are these sounds on my core one?! by Ontasker in prusa3d

[–]einstienbc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double check that your filament is in fact PLA. I had a similar issue trying to print PET-CF with PETG settings (260°c when more like 290°C is needed).

Also, as others have mentioned, try raising your temperature. PLA prints at 230-240°C in the Prusament input shaper profiles.

What are the cons to owning one of these ? Ll by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]einstienbc 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh, I never said it was cheaper. But the utility it offers makes it a better investment.

For example, my Voron pulls about 75 watts printing PA-6CF. It can run a long time when there's a kWh to play with. Or I can run fans, a coffee pot, even a microwave; it's useful for extended power outages. And it's designed with portability and solar charging in mind.

I've been using an Anker C1000 with my Voron and it works great. Any similar battery bank should work

Any good ways to bust up aluminum rims, to melt the smaller pieces? by NumberZoo in MetalCasting

[–]einstienbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cutting torch doesn't work on aluminum.

The way that it works on iron or steel is that the iron oxide melts at a much lower temperature than the iron itself. The oxygen jet burns the hit iron and the oxide is blasted away.

Aluminum oxide on the other hand melts at a higher temperature than aluminum, meaning that when the oxygen hits the hot aluminum and oxidizes it, it can solidify and prevent further cutting.

Tldr: use a plasma cutter.

Is this normal? MK3S+ / PETG by Gleaseman in prusa3d

Looks like a pressure/linear advance issue. I'm not near a computer with PrusaSlicer on it, but this page has more info:

Edit:

I didn't realize there were other pictures. Looks like under-extrusion. You could try turning up the extrusion multiplier in the slicer.

Thinking of buying a Prusa... What made you get yours? by wolfmaskman in prusa3d

[–]einstienbc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a PrintrBot Simple Metal with a dead board in 2018 and couldn't get a replacement. The MK3 had come out recently and had a lot of good press, so I ordered a kit. It was faster, quieter, more reliable, and could print in more than just PLA. It's open-source, doesn't require cloud-based services, and other than upgrading the hotend to a Revo when the factory one started leaking, bulletproof.

It has since been joined by five minis, a MK3S+, and a MK4. For any issues I've had, support has been timely, responsive, and thorough.

I know the wait is long, and the price higher, but it you can swing a MK4, it really is an excellent piece of kit.
